Hi AxeltAnubis, I'm assuming you are using a Commander Core with the attached AIO. And I'm also assuming that the AIO/CORE are not being detected within icue. Are the fans running that are connected to the controller indicating it has power? It's likely that the pump is fine and has power, you should be able to hear it if you listen closely and/or feel it. Also, just use a common tool to check your cpu temp and make sure it's not rising until you figure this out. As for the controller, start with the basics, make sure you have the latest iCUE software, uninstall/reinstall. Power off and disconnect your HUB's power/USB connector. Try using a different sata connector (but physically disconnect it for a moment regardless...that has solved multiple issues for me). and try a different USB connector. if that doesn't solve it by using another power connector or USB port and reinstalling. Remove the fans and any other devices except your AIO plug. Reseat the AIO plug and try again. If you have another system available, try the hub by itself to see if it's detected. It's possible it's a controller gone bad, but if the fans are running and you're cpu temps aren't rising, the pump should be working. The pump should always be running if the controller has power. There can be other system/windows issues causing problems to which you can reinstall windows if necessary or investigate other added hardware. let me know what you find, good luck and have fun....Troubleshooting is fun, isn't it? Thanks for watching!

From a previous review Ive seen having the pump on one channel seems to also reduce the amount of other devices you can install to the same channel. With the cables on the hoses ,maybe after fitting the user could run hot air over them to heat the cabling and get a better forming on the cabling removing the lumpiness. Im sure there was mention of linking hubs for larger systems.

Agreed! I know a builder who swears that he has to keep the AIO on one side of the controller and the fan banks on the other, or he gets weird fan issues (like some of them just turning off at random). I'm thinking maybe a power drain issue? I'm about to drop a serious amount on a full setup that will require two controllers, so wish me luck! Great video, btw. I love the way you stick to the topic and don't stray into the weeds.

Hey man, I have the same case was thinking about getting these fans and aio. What I am wondering is how would I connect a total of 9 fans. 4 in the front, 4 on the side and 1 in the back as exhaust, plus the aio with 3 fans? I see what he is doing, but you can only connect 7 fans per plug on the hub, total of 14 I guess. Soi I am wondering if I would need 2 hubs, cause cant see connecting the 4 front and 4 side fans to the same hub?? Any advice would help thanks.

I've had such a bad experience with these fans. 1. The screw holes are slightly too small for the included screws with the kit as well as the screws with the Corsair 7000D case. This makes for an agonizing time trying to screw the fans onto the case or trays 2. The cables always feel too short or too long. Every fan came with a 90-to-90 135mm cable, but i only needed like 2 or 3 of these out of the 9 fans i bought. What i really needed was the y-splitter ($20 + $10 shipping). 3. The 7 device limit really doesn't play well with the 7000d 4x120 front and side fan intakes. It means i have to split the chain after 7 fans and connect them on a different way. If this was an 8 fan limit, or had i gotten an extra hub this would have been no problem. Because it's an issue, it's extra cost to buy another cable or hub. 4. No actual guides to setting up the fans, especially for Corsair's own cases. I spent hours searching to find what cables i would need, what daisy chain configuration, etc for this to work with a 12 fan 7000d setup. No one could provide a concrete answer or guide. Corsair's website claims how easy it is to install, yet this has been the most frustrating part of the build. This was an expensive lesson on doing my own fan setup with "premium" fans. I know next time to stick with something tried and true and pay a professional service to do it for me.

I had also heard that the components with LCD screens(both the AIOs and the Hydro X parts) were going to need an additional USB connection, I believe for more data bandwidth. Overall, I really like what Corsair has done with the iCUE Link system. The two real negatives are ones you mentioned in the video: the provided cables and the overall price. Not including a cable with a 90-degree connector for the fan 3-pack seems like big fail for them, that seems like the most useful place for the angled connector. I also don't get why there isn't a better cable option for conneting the AIO fans to the port on the radiator. It's their AIO for Pete's sake, they know exactly how much space there is between the fan port and the radiator port, and they know the exact alignment. Why not include a custom cable that's just the right length and is shaped to fit smoothly around the tubing? The one you used, which I assume came with the AIO, seemed much longer than necessary, and just looked awkward. As for the price, I get that these components bring more functionality and thus warrant a higher price, but it's still a big hit to the wallet. Especially when they provide a sub-optimal cable to do with it. I wouldn't mind seeing them offer an extender which connects to the straight-end cable, adds maybe 2-3 inches of length, and ends in an angled connector. I'm also hoping they eventually offer parts that scale back or eliminate the RGB to perhaps cut down on the cost. I understand why they introduced the fully blinged-out versions up front, but they've offered reduced-RGB versions of fans & AIOs in the past, hopefully they'll do that here as well. Not all of us want our computer to look like it belongs at a rave :)

Hi @pdegan2814, yes, I did use the included AIO cables and thought the same thing, it's slightly awkward , not sure why they didn't include a shorter cable in that situation. Hi ThomasLiberty, some of the non-elite sp120's aren't compatable with the core XT. But the SP120's that are elite have the 4 pin ARGB connector so they are compatable with iCUE. Just check the specs of your specific fan. It has been confusing on the SP120's specifically because there are a couple of types of that fan. Corsair usually notes in the specs if it's icue compatable. Good Luck, have fun and thanks for watching!!!

Hi Atrociousnes, you will generally connect this to your cpu fan connector on the motherboard if your motherboard requires it for normal operation. It's not required for operation within iCUE and is needed only if your motherboard needs to see a signal on that port regarding the cpu fan. You can likely change that in the BIOS as well. Still can't get my older Corsair black boxes to talk to my motherboard or dectect in iCUE over the USB headers. So the big question really is, how backwards compatible is it with all the other Corsair products that already exists. I just ordered the Corsair LC100 RCB Triangle starter kit a few days ago, lets see if I can get *that* to detect in iCUE and work. The huge Achilles heal of this whole system seems to be the USB header connection, and that you have to have Windows and iCUE running at the time for it to have any effect at all on your lighting. If you cant' get the USB to talk to iCUE (like me), or Windows or iCUE isn't running for some other reason (you're booting up, shutting down, in BIOS, or in Linux or some other OS)... then you're Corsair lighting just will not respond. iCUE should of been some kind of add inor plug in for UEFI BIOS, or better, just soem entirely independent hardware box controller you can actually push buttons or turn knobs on or with a keypad you can stick on your case IMHO. Something that runs entirely independent of what your computer is doing, is simle, intuitive, and just detects whether your computer is on or off and mirrros that state.

The 5000D/X was cramped enough to build in, I don't know how you'd buildi in a 4000D. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the 7000X, even though it only gives you maybe a few more inches forward and a few more inches upward, and no more inches in depth. It's not much more for the huge jump in price to be sure. But with the 5000 my motherboard and all it's top and bottom edge connectors were right up against the radiator fans and the bottom PSU shroud which made them a PITA to route cables to and plug in and search around and get fingers in there to find a way from the front to the back side for any cable.

I have to say I love the whole link system, Im just not a fan of the pricing. I live in South Africa and basically what that entails is insane mark ups on electronics. Just as an example a RTX 4090 MSI X trio costs on my side R45 883.95 which after conversion is $2568.09 at the current rand to dollar exchange rate (ps that’s on special). Shocking and that applies to everything, PC cases, CPU’z etc. unable to compare pricing on the ICUE link products as none are currently available or listed for preorder

Bought the AIO and 10 individual fans to avoid getting 2 or 3 more system hubs I wouldn't need. The fact they don't have great cable options makes this way harder than it needs to be. I'm installing 13 fans total in a Corsair 5000D airflow and the cable headers that are not 90 degrees are almost never a good fit. I have 2 200mm normal connector cables, the 1 600mm cable with the AIO, 1 splitter I bought separately and the double 90 degree cable that is exclusive to the AIO. I can't get the configuration to work with those cables. the 3 fans I have on top of the case for push/pull with the AIO the only one that works is the 600mm 90 degree end. I had to order another 2 of those. And the connection string is janky because each port only support 7 devices and the AIO pump counts as 1 separate from the 3 fans on the AIO. So the "14 devices" is literally 14 individual fans or a mix of AIO pumps/future custom loop pumps, etc. It's an expensive, proprietary setup that almost doesn't seem to help with saving time during setup. I've had to take apart all the fans 2 times already and will need to a 3rd time when the expensive extra cables come. Also they need to sell more double 90 degree cables at all the lengths. Those are by far the best cables for fit and look.
@ProfessorSquatch
@ProfessorSquatch 11 ай бұрын
By the way that's around $100 of extra cables on top of the setup which is terrible. They should really have way more cables included with the package instead of making you buy more. The fans are way too expensive. Also out of the 10 fans I got in my Amazon order, one was defective with weird Red/Green/Blue Flashes during normal color cycles, Amazon replaced in in 2 days no problem, but it was clearly a bad fan. Just hope they learn from this and make the "easier" solution actually easy to install. It took me a whole day of messing with to get the cables in the right way.

I think u don't need that AIO u can do that with the old Corsair Icue Elite lcd xt AIO. Just connect the fans to system hub and then connect the command core to the PCIe port on the hub as well then the usb to the port on the mb, give it shot if u have it laying around. Lol

Can you help me, what is the power cable that runs the radiator and control? Can you send me a link from Amazon so I can purchase it? Note that I purchased a cable and installed it but the motherboard crashed
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan Ай бұрын
Hi n__i_z_a__r , I'm assuming you are referring to one of the iCUE link AIO's. In that case the pump head power and control are done through the icue link cables themselves. There is a power cable to the icue link hub itself, but that would have come with the hub. You can find a replacement one on corsairs website. To summarize, you connect the hub to your system using the PCIe power cable and the USB cable. Then, using one of the icue link cables (there are many to choose from length and connector angle, but they all work the same) you connect the icue link hub to a port on the AIO and then the second port is used to continue daisy chaining fans. There is a USB c port on the AIO control block, this is used if you are using the LCD screen. If your AIO doesn't have the icue link control block, then icue link won't work with it, it has to be a specific icue link enabled aio. I hope that helps, I may not be understanding, but as for the cable, just buy the proper length icue link cable that will reach from the hub to your aio. Let me know if that doesn't help and if you can provide me your AIO model# and what cables you have, I'll be happy to help. Thanks for watching!!!

I bought 3 starter kits. The no 90-degree cables is a huge problem at this price point. They should be included. Or at least sell a kit with 3 fans and 3 cables and no controller box. Spending $169for a kit and $30 more for an extra cable is a huge problem. Tried to use it with custom cooling build. They don’t fit. Have to run cables outside the case. Then leave side panel off to hook up the ‘link’ cables to the controller. Right now the 99-degree cables are on back order. Only have 9 days left to return en to Newegg. Probably will have to do that. I’ve already delayed finishing this waiting on fans then the cables.

I cannot get version 5 to install any tips?
@HardwareArtisan
@HardwareArtisan 10 ай бұрын
Hi Ready1299, It would depend on what the problem is, but as a general start, uninstall any/all versions of icue, then restart your computer. download a fresh copy of v5 and tray again. Version 5 uses 'modules' in the software to control individual devices. If the software is installing but doesn't see your hardware, if may have not detected it and therefore didn't install the righ module. In that case, I'd start with trying a different usb connection. If possible, try a different pcie power connector, if not at least power off and reseat them. I'd still try uninstalling and reinstalling if that doesn't work. If that doesn't help, let me know what your specific issue and i'll be happy to help.

I totally get that sentiment, they are pricey for sure. Do check out the RX120 RGB fans for corsair. They are icue link fans, but cheaper, coming in around 95 for the 3 fan kit with hub. (still not cheap) I'm working on a video for those, so check back, but just throwing out options. In the mean time, the rat's nest is still ok, my main PC still has a rats nest of RGB cables in it. The big problem to me is that they've over-complicated the system. It's a lot like USB, but with extra power capacity, which together makes the cables far more expensive and the devices a bit more expensive to produce. With each component more expensive to produce, it makes the overall system much more expensive. As much as I like Corsair products, I will not be buying this line of products specifically because it is too expensive.

WOW Corsair has become one of the most money hungry products for and mainly gaming desktop computers. I have the 4000D case and the thumb screws that you would use to mount your gpu the screw holes strip out so very easily and mine stripped when i only did a snug because i did not want it tight cause i use a gpu support rod so one day i had to reset my bios by taking out the mobo battery and putting it back in and my gpu was in the way so after i did all of that when i went to snug the 2 screws for the gpu they would not even snug they just kept turning and it took me talking to corsair tech support 2 months just to get them to honor the warranty and i did get a new case and they no longer talk to anyone over the phone for support it is now only through email. I will never but from that company ever again.

It's a shame they didn't think of including a plug for existing iCue AIO's so as to consolidate controllers; I'd be happy to swap out the fans that came with my AIO and replace them with Link fans if it meant I can replace the Elite XT controller with the Link's, but nope. Between the price, and having to add yet another controller in my case (not to mention an internal USB hub - I already had my share of problems with the iCue supplied Y cable), I'm going to have to pass on this. I can understand why these are more expensive, but almost double the price of the Lian-Li's? Update the Link controller to help consolidate controllers with at least the iCue Elite XT's and drop the price a bit - then we'll talk.

The issue is that it's not in any way similar. :) The old controllers run fans by pulsing analog power (pwm). iCUE link is a digital system, there's a MCU in the fan and the controller "tells it to run at 1200rpm". The fan then does the pwm work itself. In a way, it's like changing a simple power cable with a dimmer for a network cable. That's what lets you control fans individually and opens up a layer of space for future features. In short, even though it appears at first sight as a cable solution, there's a lot more going on under the hood.
@pdegan2814
@pdegan2814 10 ай бұрын
With the way each device in the new ecosystem self-identifies through the data channel, creating a "bridge" of some kind isn't really practical. The old devices have no way of declaring themselves, so you'd need separate bridge devices for each legacy component, or some way to program the bridge device and tell it what legacy device(s) it's connecting to. Backwards compatibility is usually a good thing, but sometimes its more trouble than its worth and a clean break it necessary. I don't think iCUE Link is going to be the kind of thing that gets added on to an existing setup, this is clearly aimed at people who are either building a new rig, or are completely swapping out an old cooling/lighting setup for a 100% Link system.

Costs just far too much, they don't give you all the cables you need (resulting in costing more out of your pocket) and other manufacturers were already doing similar (cough Lian-Li cough). Also those fans are very plain looking, in a fugly homely kind of way and there are other manufacturers who make much better AIOs that work and perform far better.
