Cort has always made good guitars. I had a Samic SG back in the day that was a great guitar. The problem with Cort is they don’t have any big box and very few independent store distribution. Other issue is for $750 you can get a Charvel, Fender, Jackson, PRS or other “name brand” guitars. Cort needs to partner with Zzounds or American Music for distribution or even becoming the house brand like Michael Kelley or Harley Benton. Harley Benton has circumvented distribution issues by being incredibly priced, which in the buy to play retail environment we’re in now has helped their branch become a household name for guitar players.

The Charvel DK24 will have more options for strat and tele-like tones since it has the additional switch to go between series and parallel for the pickups. From reviews of other guitars (check Daryl Braun's review of the Charvel So Cal Tele) and other info I'd expect the Charvel to have neck/fret treatment that is exceptional (as opposed to just very good on the Cort) and the Charvel's tremolo would also be very highly rated. If you mainly use humbucker sounds and aren't good enough / fussy enough to appreciate an exceptional neck then save some money and buy the Cort. If like plenty of single coil-type sound options and/or would appreciate outstanding neck and fretwork, save for the Charvel and you'll probably never want to upgrade. I don't think either would be a "wrong" choice for most people. But watch some more reviews to help you decide.
@iangray97913 жыл бұрын
@@Baggmanau bought a brand new charvel dk24, the neck was phenomenal, the gotoh 510 was one of the most solid bridges ive ever played on. Had to return that guitar due to defect electronics, bought a second one that was also brand new and the guitar seems to have been misrouted as the bridge pickup was so high it pushed on the strings, tried to lower the pickup and it would not budge. I’ve previously played the DK and loved it, I’ve been sold on Charvel for so long but as of recent with the QC issues I’ve personally experienced I would pass. As far as frets go, I’ve played guitars that retail for 500$-600$ that have had considerably better fret jobs than the Charvel I received
@Baggmanau3 жыл бұрын
@@iangray9791 Good info Ian - thanks for sharing. Many reviewers have said very good things - maybe they get guitars that have been thoroughly checked or maybe you were unlucky. Got 3 Cort guitars. My g290 fat model is my go to. I also have a cr100 that I got back circa 1999 as a kid. The cr100 is not playable at all. The humbuckers are bad, the switch is playing up, the buzzing is hard to control and needs a proper set up (if I ever get to changing the humbuckers and have a look at the wiring). My 290 fat model plays so well though and my sfx acoustic is also nice to play and beatiful to look at. So to summarize. I got a shit cort guitar as a kid, but maybe it was a one off bad product or they were not as good guitar manufacturers back then. I kept it only for its sentimental value. The pots that came in my Gibson guitars don’t need to be sprayed out because they never get static. All the other guitars, some of which are quite expensive, need to be sprayed. I wish I knew more about this Phil, I would upgrade all the electronics as needed. I don’t like to spray out pots, it can get everywhere. The Rickenbacker pots never need to be sprayed, and so far the MIM Fender is A-ok. The 3 way switches are a different story, the only one that held up is the Les Paul. 335 and Explorer need help. I don’t want to work on the Ibanez UV77, collectors item etc. But the pot is staticky. Suhr, static. ESP, static. I would like to know how to tighten the 1/4 male jacks. All my plugs get loose, and I’m tightening them all the time. I just don’t want to put pliers on the metal and scuff it, cause issues with contact. There are some old pots on my preamps too, they’re basically shot. I would like to refurbish those because apparently they’re not for sale anymore. Just thinking out loud here.
