@mannyftw9 жыл бұрын
Chris Powell There are jazz stations on the radio, you just don't listen to them. I don't know what your local station numbers are, look them up. Also, in this day and age of computers, smartphones, and tablets, there's no excuse to use one of the various free online radio stations and listen to their jazz stations or make your own. You won't find many new artists on the radio because the internet and social media have set the precedent for how to get yourself out to the public in this day and age.

Amazing how many innovation police there are on this thread - Maybe if Laurens Hammond had listened to the doubters, he wouldn't have bothered inventing the B3, or maybe Don Leslie would quit realising his vision of taking the tonewheel sound into a new realm..(allbeit to replicate natural chorusing of multiple pipes) Bottom line is, we should encourage and support innovators, because whether traditionalists like it or not, that's how all the 'old shit' came about. Innovation and people with vision.
@razvaz8 жыл бұрын
+Mark J Perry It's phrases like "The Piano of the Future" that probably wind people up. The inventor of the Hammond probably didn't have loads of doubters because we didn't know about it until it proved its worth. Stop telling us its the piano of the future and prove it.
@petrus79778 жыл бұрын
+razvaz who the hell says its "the piano of the future"??.... anyway, the guy is absolutely right about innovation

+Lean Drusi One of the related videos on the right "The Seaboard - The Piano of the Future". The era of music being culturally important is over and it's more about technology these days.
@petrus79778 жыл бұрын
razvaz Nonsense. Music is as culturally important as always, and maybe even more given the broad access common people have to it nowadays. What "era" are you talking about? past centuries of classical european composers? Just because some new instrument manufacturers use pretentious words it doesnt mean everything is about tech in this era, proof of that, for example, is the vast complexity and beauty of things being played by that man Henry, to mention one.. There were no such things back in the "past eras" you mention...
@razvaz8 жыл бұрын
+Lean Drusi The Beatles and other mid 20th century pop groups helped change the world. The guy is playing "killing me softly" by Roberta Flack for crying out loud, proving my point. Pop music does not influence society like it used to, technology in general is what's changing the world today.

Dan Edmiston You should find Marco Parisi doing Purple Rain on this thing. THAT’S impressive. I’m sorry to say, but even the genius of Cory can’t mask the fact that this is a digital guitar - the slides sound like a portamento or a wheel, it’s very artificial to me. And it bothers me because I’m a keyboard player and I immediately notice the shortcomings of the failure of a digital replication of an analogue device.

@hellomate6398 жыл бұрын
Johncowk I can find flaws. Lol. I think it's funny when people look at someone who is ultra skilled, but then can't see the flaws. Right off the bat, some of the repeated notes sound a little wooden. But it's still very good, and I don't think that this instrument has been around long enough for anyone to have that kind of mastery, so it's expected. He'll get better and grind through those diminishing returns to hit that perfection.

The fact of the matter, Cory is demonstrating the capabilities of this splendid keyboard with a somewhat familiar tune!! He is NOT in concert!! I think the main problem with playing the sea board is making sure your fingers are in the right place while playing chords so u dont pitch shift all the notes. Thats prob why he looks like hes having a hard time with those wide chords. I think the touch sensitivity is ver good. Ive never used one tho so idk.
@cavemanraveman16 жыл бұрын
The keys are very touch sensitive but the amount of pressure you have to keep on them can make it difficult to play wide chords. The sensitivity for bends is also very high, but you can adjust that right on the board. You cannot, however, adjust the sensitivity of when it registers a key press.

Music is not in the instrument you've got. An instrument is only a tool. The person makes the music, and that is what you are enjoying in this video. With a normal piano he could have played exactly the same piece. And for special sounds you don't need a "Seaboard", just plug your keyboard via MIDI into your PC and run some VST plugins. Some keyboards also have a pitchbend option so that's nothing 'worlds first'.
@thisjustin775 жыл бұрын
it's the ability to not have to use your left hand to pitch bend. Nor use any form of expression other then your hands on the keys. How you move is how you play

Also. I've tried one of these and it's a bastard to play. A large reason for criticism is the fact that traditional keys HAVE been improved on (midi aftertouch, modern hammer designs etc) and the seaboard is likely a blip in music history while traditional keybeds have retained their same basic structure for around 600 years without any major need for redesign, only addition of minor features.
