My 15 just recently today developed a murmur, she has a cough, tomorrow X-rays at Banfield Hospital, I’m glad I listened tonight. Thank you so much! I feel a bit more educated! I have a wellness plan for my cat and my Dog Sophie. The plan doesn’t cover the cost of the exams. I thought she was covered for the testing at least.

After you start vetmedin, are dogs expected to be on it for life?

Every case and pet are unique. Generally the medicine will be required as long as the underlying problem persists. Again, every case is different.

@@ConeOfShame can an enlarged heart ever heal as long as the mitral valve is the cause? My dog is only 8 and I brought him in for an occasional cough, so it was a devastating and unexpected diagnosis. He’s a schnauzer mix. I started the lasix and vetmedin yesterday and my dog is lethargic and doesn’t want to eat. It seems like a miserable life. Thank you for responding. I seriously feel like I need a support group for dog CHF! 🤦🏻‍♀️

⁠@@michellenyscI just had a CHF diagnosis for my shih tzu mini poodle mix 2.5 weeks ago he turns 8 in May. ER put him on lasix and pimobendan so we’re going through something similar. How’s your baby doing?
