Zacapa is my go to sipping rum. I’d love to know which one, leaving the Bacardi 8 out, you like the best for sipping.

I picked up the Port Cask-finished a couple weeks ago, thinking “how bad could it be for $19?” Turns out it’s pretty darn good, even without the price caveat. To me, used port casks tend to give liquors less prominent vanilla and wood spice or tannins than virgin oak or even bourbon casks, but add more subtle complex flavors from the port, like stone fruits, berry, and red wine. It’s subtle here, but you can pick those notes up underneath the typical brown sugar, vanilla, and caramel notes. It makes for a nice, “gets along with everything” aged rum, without any sharp corners or hard elbows. Sometimes that’s just what you need. At $19 I’m going back to stock up. This will be my go-to rum for hot toddy and eggnog season. Unlike Trader Joe’s, whose house-branded stuff is often pretty vile, Kirkland seems to be able to match up good quality and a good price. I’ve had decent London Dry gin and small batch bourbon from them. I’ve heard their Islay scotch was great, but missed out on it. If I’m buying for a party, making a punch, or batch cocktails, etc, I’ll usually check Costco out first and see if there’s a Kirkland offering.

I've managed to get my hands on all 3 (from 3 different stores) but unfortunately I can't seem to find the 15 year anywhere anymore.

I'll keep my eye out for one of these next time I'm at Costco. I'm always looking for decent cheap rums for my partner who loves Cuba Libre's. A few months ago my local Costco was selling Appleton 8 year bottles for a lot cheaper than I've ever seen so I stocked up on that.

I thought I saw a Kirkland rum with a black label recently at my local Costco in San Diego North County. I will have to go double check if it was that 15 year from Panama.

I'll have to look for these again. I tried their scotch and islay, not great. The vodka is vodka so no worries there. I'm looking forward to trying these if I find them.

I couldn't help but glance over the bottles on display behind you during the presentation...you might be due for a new bottle of Worthy Park 109.

It would be fun to try these but Texas won't let Costco or other stores sell anything except beer and wine unless it is specifically a liquor store.

I have the Guatemala XO, definitely some overstock or b stock of Pasador De Oro. A bit more harsh than the real stuff, but totally fine when mixed.

Are you using the same recipe for aged rum daiquiris as for your other daiquiris?

man I wish I lived in a state that let you buy booze in a grocery store

Costco can't booze in Texas. I wonder how these stack against Flor de Cana Eco? I think that's 8 rebranded....

Sadly the crappy liquor laws in my state don't allow stores like Costco to sell hard spirits. Yes, the Costco generally has superior products. This includes spirits.

Where are you. Are you in the US? They are not there when I check at costco.
