When you build your escape ship, perhaps have a piece spark and fall off at a few hundred meters after launch for the cinematic scrap just barely holding together shot.

For getting off the planet, I recommend having atmo thrusters just to save hydrogen, once atmo thrusters aren’t enough then you could use the hydrogen, possibly even dropping the atmo thrusters if you dont care about them to save weight

Getting up to max speed quickly saves so much fuel on the trip to orbit. More than enough that you can skip the step of dumping the booster stage. I recommend at least 120% thrust to weight ratio (google "Space Engineers thruster quick reference card v5.0" for hard data).

I did this with my Chinook escape ship in single player had a huge bank of atmos that I ejected once they no longer could lift

It might be fun and interesting to go full Cape Canaveral with the launch site. So that could mean a dedicated Vehicle Assembly Building, with a crawler-transporter to (very carefully) move the finished launch vehicle over to the pad. A proper launch tower for fuelling, embarking and dramatic lighting. You have plenty of room on the lake-bed, so you can space the pad(s) out a fair distance from the VAB, train station, fuel storage, rover charging bays, cafe etc. Both to give it all a nice sense of scale, but also to make sure things don't start to feel too crowded. A Launch Control Centre might seem pointless considering there'll be nobody left behind to use it, but it might be a fun community build all the same, and give everyone an alternative place to gather and track the progress. I'm assuming the idea is for the configuration of the launch vehicle to be a more or less a traditionally arranged rocket ship, rather than a more sci-fi Nostromo style lander? For one thing I think that might make it much easier for people to design their own custom modules since they'd all have a set form factor to adhere to; in this case a rough cylinder (full, halved or quartered depending on the scale and cross-section of the thing.) Which also makes the final assembly much easier, since once you have the engines, power and fuel systems built, you can just crane on the modules on top, or stack them off a central spine, with the command module being the final touch.

28:00 Splitsie had another Goose moment? Personally I would use an advanced rotor on the gooseneck to mount the fuel tank. With some ingenuity you could even pipe up a fueling arm to it that way too. The gooseneck could be built out as an extended raised loadbed.

You could make two additional copies of the pig, to have it be the Three Little Pigs Launch Site. Though if you do that, I'm pretty sure your escape vehicle needs to be called The Big Bad Wolf.

For the hydrogen transport truck a few medium cargo containers or barrels on the gooseneck part of the hitch would definitely fill it’s look out. It’ll be handy to carry some supplies over as the same time and the weight over the rear wheels of the truck will help with handling

Got algo-rec'd this series a couple weeks ago, watched it pretty much every night while dozing off (your voice is soothing). Finally caught up! Really neat concept. This was my introduction to Space Engineers and I think it should be an official mode! Now to start on your other series with 100 episodes...

Truck suggestion: If you're game for a 'bit' of refitting, spin the LG Tank around, put small connector into the wall of the trailer and plum the gooseneck up... behind the truck cab: fuelling arm (park'ed of course) with connectors at the end for loading and unloading.

The way I deal with wind turbine is with a fondation, hinge, 2 merges blocs. I put the hinge 1 bloc away from the final position of the Column. Then I build 9 blocks on the hinge, a merge block at the end, A block under the wind turbine, a merge block on that last block, then I merge the 2. The column is ready. After that, I grind the 2 merge blocks and put 1 next to the final position, the second to the frist block of the column. After that, I use the hinge to rise the wind turbine. The merge blocks will blink Yellow / Red because of the hinge. Grind the hinge, hop... merge block merged and Wind Turbine in place on 10 blocks tall column. easy peasy, wind trubine easy.

For the van survival kit: You should use the wheel blocks, but replace the wheels with rotors to make it look like a the tires are gone. Then put it up on blocks.

Stay down at sea level. Im on a 400m tall plateau and have to transfer my base down to get over to an ice river 80km away. The plateau is 32 square km and has been a great flat scrap farm. If you want to check it out its called Nacho Survival.

You could build a skeleton with just the communal parts of the ship and necessities to launch and have people build modules that attach to it. Connect with merge blocks so they all work together and it will have a definite scrabbled together from a junkyard feel

this is got to be my first comment all together here but been watching for long... i think an "Air control tower" could be useful for launch platform and spaceport area, with antennas and visibilty to all the different launchpads to "control" the flow of air trafic, both flying grids and ones that can reach into space. been enjoying this series a lot!

The conveyor convertor on the survival kit van could've easily been a block lower and connected directly to the port on the connector. I don't know why that specific piping choice interested me so much. Doesn't the new facility need a scrap beacon? Maybe the one off the crane, attached to the survival kit grid. If you really wanted to fit the Mad Max fuel truck theme, the front of the trailer could have a manned turret that never gets used and just gets left pointed vaguely at the sky for the aesthetic. Cargo and fuel shipments are lucrative after all. Otherwise I'd say, like, searchlights or something. Maybe one of the pixel art signs. For the launch facility, having some hangars and then a long pathway to the launch platform proper like a real rocket assembly and launch facility would be cool. The rocket probably will need some dedicated carrier unless you launch it from the middle of the building area. The facility could maybe use a large grid crane for it too, given how large the modules may be. Plus, it will look cool.

Planetary Escape vessel, modified from available vehicles, I suggest using an RV (from the movie Space Balls). Depart the planet in a bit of mobile comfort. I'm liking the idea of a fuel tanker truck to transport hydrogen from the base to the launch facility. You could call it The Rubber Duck (from the movie Convoy). I thought using merge blocks set to AUTO while using a flying ship was part of "Space Engineers: Bad Ideas 101" tutorial?

As for the concerns about the fuel truck, i restored one and i had no trouble at all with the mudguards, even with short suspensions (it was on a server aswell) it handled alright, but I understand u might not like to risk it (sorry if u already did it im just 22 mins in the video :D)

Another Thing that is pretty Hard is to find the best mods.. I would love to see a video from you, showing your 2024 need to have mods. Not really, it would take so long that the voxels would reset and you'd fall to the centre of the planet. We've got that behaviour on the server to optimise performance so people can still have lots of loose grids around the place

Largegrid - no. Smallgrid large - they spawn, but rare.
