Thank you Lynn for your reassurance. This happens to me every year when I see all these lovely videos jam packed with ideas for gifts! I need to sew them all year round not just for Christmas 😂. I actually opened my fabric cupboard today and had forgotten I had so many fabrics in there that I wanted to sew for winter! Oh well, there is always January. Thanks for watching and such a kind comment 🧵😊

I am sure your grands will be delighted with the things you have made them. The little robe you made for your granddaughter is so sweet. I have used the same pattern for my grands. Why are things that are little so much cuter than those for us big people?😍 I have also made pjs from that pattern in flannel. I hacked the girl version into a nightgown by lengthening the top and adding a ruffle. It turned out super cute. Enjoy your weekend with family and that sweet baby girl!

Thank you Katrina, I do hope you are right! I need to use that pattern for the boys now, I feel mean I have never made them a dressing gown 🤣. As you say, little things are just adorable to make and sounds like you had amazing success turning that dress into a nightgown, that is genius! I can't wait to see Chloe as she is now rolling over and becoming a real little person 🥰 Have a good weekend 🧵😊

You've been a very busy bee, Carole! The dressing gown for your grandbaby is so stinkin' cute!!!!!!!!!! 🥰 And, yeah, the kangaroo pockets blend in so nicely on the Disney shirts for your grandboys. Had to watch your video before going to bed. Been doing a lot of hand sewing of binding onto the microwave mats (XL mug rugs) that I'm giving for Hanukkah and Christmas gifts. Fat quarters are great for this project and I've been going through quite a lot of them. I'm making sets - 2 to 4 mats per set. I can watch YT videos while hand sewing the binding. Tonight, I've lost all track of time. It's 1:30am and I need to call it a night. Thanks for another great video, as always. 😊 xx

I machine sew on the first side of the binding, then hand sew down the back side. The final outcome is just so much nicer. Honestly, I don't mind hand sewing except for getting stuck by pins now and then. 😬 I'm so glad you have a granddaughter to sew for now. So much fun sewing pretty little dresses and shopping for girlie fabrics. I remember how much fun it was sewing for my daughter when she was a little girl. 🥰@@socarole66

Such cute outfits for your grandkids. The dressing gown is adorable. I hate sewing with that fabric, the fluff always gets up my nose. Sewing for kids is so much fun. This week is the last of my granddaughters concerts, recitals, etc. that I need to attend, so I'm looking forward to a couple of weeks of sewing. I made a Christmas top for myself this week and it was a total fail. My daughter told me to put it in the time out basket for awhile. I think the next item I make will be a from a pattern that I know I love and that fits well. Looking forward to some fun sewing next week. Thanks for sharing all your cute makes.

Ha ha Carole, you’re right. Cuddle fabric IS devil fabric! I’ve just finished making a full length hoodie (for lounging on the sofa) in an adult size as a gift. I was hoovering up all the time, my sewing machine hated it even with a walking foot and my overlocker wasn’t keen. It turned out well though. I have three other 3m lengths of cuddle fleece in different designs but I’m donating it. I can’t go through that again!! 🤣🤣 My machines have just had a good clean as a reward. Your makes were great. You’ve been busy. Right onto my Hubby’s pyjamas. My Christmas dress will have to wait …. Again! 😃

Thanks! Glad it wasn't just the version of the fabric I bought. I can't imagine making something Adult sized out of that, just a little piece of it was bad enough 😰. The little robe turned out so cute, so tiny! That fabric makes a mess, all right. I’m the same way, I flit from one idea to another without actually doing anything, I have to make myself calm down so I can actually sew something. I’m working on T-shirts for my husband right now, he stole some fabric that was going to make his pjs with, he said he’d rather have shirts, so that’s what he’s getting. Then I guess it’s on to pjs for my littles next. I broke my serger today, but I’m hopeful that I can fix it myself, because taking it to a repair shop is not an option, there are any within 100 miles of me. If I can’t fix it, I’ll have to buy a new one, not exactly what I’d want for Christmas, but that’s life. Lovely pics at the end😀

Good for you making something for your Hubby, I've forgotten about Chris this year 🤣. Glad he knows what he wants though, shirts not PJs. So sorry to hear about your serger, this is not a good time for things to go wrong and get them mended. You live so far away from any machine shops! Hi there, Carole! That little dressing gown (robe?) is so cute. And I'm sure the boys will love the shirts and the embellished hats that Grandma Carole made up specially for them. Kids remember that sort of thing! Look at that -- you completed a skirt that your Mother started. I have a feeling she made that without a pattern at all, right? It has been years since I've had a real, live tree but I remember the lovely smell of a fresh cut tree AND, unfortunately, the big mess the pine needles made in the house. LOLOLOL... Anyway, have fun decorating!

Hey Deb, I hope the boys like those bits and that Mummy and Daddy love the dressing gown! I hope it is true that they will remember Nanny making things 🥰. I think my Mum must have made that skirt without a pattern which is so intriguing, I need to ask her if she can remember! I have just finished putting up the tree and hoovering up all the needles that dropped whilst I did it😂. We have put it up a week earlier so I do hope it lasts and of course, we have had to turn the heating off in the lounge near it so we are now freezing 😂🎄, Have a great weekend in your warm house! 💗xxx

My Mother used to put sugar in the water for the Christmas tree and she made sure it had water in the little holding tray until just after Christmas. Years ago, I switched to an artificial tree and prefer that yet. No fuss; no mess. And we leave all the decorations up and lighted at night through the first week of the New Year. That's just our preference.
@socarole66 Жыл бұрын
@@DebsWay sugar in the water? Now that is interesting as I suppose with cut flowers there is always a sugary solution that you put in, I need to google that! We have a neat contraption that holds the tree and has a water indicator. I do have this thing about it being unlucky to remove the decs before the twelfth night so yes ours are up until after New Years as well, or at least one piece!! 🌲😘

Carole, you have been very busy. The sweatshirts, dressing gown, and hats for the littles are adorable. You really do need to make something for yourself. You had a vlog on a make of Butterick 6388 top which I absolutely fell in love with. I purchased the pattern and had some fabric here at home that I made it out of (such an easy makek). Love the top, except there are wrinkles all over the top and it looks terrible. I just can't figure out how to fix it so it looks better.😢 I am so bummed. Oh well, I will find someone to help me figure out what to do to remedy the situation. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with the family.

The cutest bear fabric but wow.. the devils fabric! Oh we’ve all had those haven’t we! Well done for persevering … that is the most gorgeous dressing gown 😍😍😍😍 the Disney pjs are just fabulous!!! Does that embroidery machine use a lot of thread? And does it use special thread? The result is amazing! Totally feeling the same about December not having much structure in the sewing room!!! Thanks for such a lovely festive Friday sews!
@socarole66 Жыл бұрын
Although I loved the finished result of that dressing gown, I will never work with that fabric again and others have said the same. All remnants are in the bin 😂. Funny you should ask about the embroidery thread on the machine, I do use Brothread and I bought an assorted box when I got the machine and still haven't used hardly any. You use black the most and that is running low but considering all the designs involve black I'm very surprised.
