This is so helpful, especially with regard to some Walmart bundles I've had in the past. You're right, that poly french terry is usually junk fabric - it has its uses, obviously, but I totally agree with you. Love that jacket you made and I'm in love with your top - thanks for the great info - xox

I use color catchers in just about every wash. 😊 This was very informative. I'd love a video on ponte because there seems to be a bazillion kinds. The top you're wearing is lovely.

That was great! My FAVORITE make from years ago was a Tillie & the Buttons Coco tunic with a standup collar (very Audrey Hepburn) in a fuchsia pink. I’ve never been able to find cotton French terry again. Thanks for the resources.

I've never made the Coco but it is SO cute and perfect for French Terry!

I loved French Terry from the 1980’s, along with the sweatshirt fleece of 1980’s. It seems like I’m not finding excellent sources for either unless I want to order overseas. You had great examples that cleared up many questions.

This primer on French Terry was excellent. This fabric was kind of a mystery to me, never used it before. Your detailed description and uses for each was what I needed. Sorry to hear your dad has been ill, I hope he is feeling better soon and that you can talk to him.❤

Riverside Fabrics had some amazing bamboo cotton french terry that was super soft, very pretty colours and had great drape. They carried matching ribbing too.

Thank you for this deep dive into French Terry! I am currently in love with Bamboo French Terry. It is softer and less stiff than Cotton FT and a little more stable than the Rayon FT. After watching your video, I had to check out the loops on the backside. :)

I do like the bamboo FT its super cozy and pretty easy to work with too!

So glad the color catchers worked. I’ve never used them before, seems I should give them a try. I think I’ve been really lucky with fabric purchases as I rarely ever have bleeding. Thanks for the information on French terry! Especially the Rayon type. I don’t think I have never seen the rayon FT in person, that I know of. I have a favorite pair of cozy cotton spandex FT joggers that I wear for warmth at home. They are so comfy!

Thank you for taking time to explain about different French Terry fabrics. I was just wondering last week what french terry fabric meant. Have you made the style arc anderson knit dress pattern? wondering if it fits loose around body?
@thebigsewalong Жыл бұрын
I have not made the Anderson but if. you look up #saandersonknitdress on instagram you can see quite a few made up and they all look loose, oversized even. Hope that helps 🤗

Great information on french terry! I also have had a disappointing experience with a poly french terry make. I see a lot of french terry blends (poly rayon spandex or poly cotton spandex) and always wonder if they would wear better. Any thoughts on the blends?
@thebigsewalong Жыл бұрын
I think the poly blends are probably a bit better. Poly/cotton seems to be around a bit, I haven't used it but I wouldn't rule it out. I also have seen cotton/rayon blends I think those are probably fine but again, I haven't tried them myself.
@thebigsewalong Жыл бұрын
The rayon/spandex and cotton spandex I have used and have been pretty happy with.
