I am so pleased to have found your 30 day training, I love your teaching method. Usually I plunge straight in, I have done your handstand practice for beginners twice, so the idea of taking it slowly and methodically is excellent. My two boys are into calisthenics and are doing handstands too, so it will be interesting to see the different approaches, ages and strengths... x

Thank you. day 2 done. just some of my thoughts on the session, be good to do a journal here of experience if ok.. rocking forward back on balls of feet in squat position to increase decrease weight on hands was a nice introduction to weight on hands. Maintaining contact with my belly and thigh whilst loading hands and stretching hamstrings felts good although "Naval to spine!!" i guess important as back in a bit of a vulnerable position it felt. So 3 things to think of: wrists, hamstrings and back just above tail bone and of course naval to spine naval to spine!!. or maybe just wrists, hamstrings and naval. The Neck stretches felt good and becoming more aware of motion of body from hips to top of head and shoulders and hanging arms with grounded feet, might start doing that when just waiting for the bus, maybe even walking which might be a tricky mental exercise.. also when weighting hands i felt ok pushing tips of fingers into the ground but the pads at the palm below the fingers weren't making contact, see what happens in future, i've added a wrist warm up from other channels before the session as i have floppy weak wrist ligaments that might be a problem later (theres so much great content!!), i like ur wrist warm ups so far and i shouldn't rush it I guess. Thank you. This might is my break from the day, thank you.

Hi Natalie! While I am capable of doing a handstand and holding it and feeling mostly in control, I decided to take this course because I feel I am still missing some fundamentals that are necessary to get me to the level of control I wish to have and ultimately the press handstand. I am noticing a pinching sensation in my left outer hip when I did the arm stretch in this video with knees bent, and also again the same pinching sensation with hands on the floor, in a pike position when I further extend my legs and bring my weight forward. Do you know what needs to be adjusted ? Thanks so much!
@NatalieReckert3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for sharing your experience. I usually have good remote analysis skills, but in this case I have no idea what this could be. Try warming up your hips by circling the leg in the hipsocket liying on the floor and stretching your leg beforehand.

Hi Natalie, just wanted to say thank you in advance ( since Im at day2 now) and hopefully in 28 days I’ll be able to do handstand ......I wanted to learn the handstand last month and was willing to join a gymnastic gym, but as you know Coronavirus is taking over the world now and everything is closed, you are my only chance to learn it so thank you 😊😊 I do have 1 concern though, I have a very tiny skinny wrist, do you think that would be a problem?!
@NatalieReckert4 жыл бұрын
Hello Mara, thank you for your lovely feedback! This program has a few wrist strengthening exercises but you are very right to be concerned because the wrist strength often takes a bit longer to develop. I'll try to describe one of my favourite exercises: Take a broomstick or normal stick and hold it in front of you with both arms at shoulder width. Elbows must be straight! Then turn the stick backwards using only your wrist, flipping them up and down. do 20 rotations, then turn the stick forwards for twenty. This should be hard work for your forearms. Also squeezing tennis balls is a very good way to strengthen your wrist. Try to add 5 minutes everyday for wrist strengthening exercises to the program, that should be perfect. Hope that kelps, Best wishes

Hi natalie Isn't tilting the pelvis forward ( posterior pelvic tilt) better than pulling the navel toward the spine to engage the core?
@NatalieReckert5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think both are really important. Ultimately pelvic tilt and core engagement work together (if you try it, you will feel that you cannot tilt the hips without using your core and vice versa). But as in this 30 day series is for complete beginners, I have not introduced the pelvic tilt yet. I think at this stage it is more important to gain confidence. But your point is very important!
