I just want people to know that Denis has been arm wrestling all his life. This narrative that he was fresh coming from strongman sports never competing in arm-wrestling tournaments lacked experience or not being strong at arm-wrestling is not correct. There is footage of Denis competing in tournaments since he was a little teenager to his early twenties before he was big and even back then he had perfect technique. The difference between Denis Now and back in the early 2000s is that he developed Much MUCH stronger hands and pronation.

Tim Bresnan Taras Ivakin Mat Grinder (Maybe), Semerenko, and many more he destroyed them all very easily. Denis didn't lack experience or strength he just came across the GOAT. Denis though for the next years shifted his training methods. If you notice now, Denis never hangs onto his opponents with his fingers like he used to which is honestly why the very few were able to beat him back in the day. Now he just clinches his fist not hanging onto his opponent and just pronates the sh*t out of them

Devon beats Denis up until around 2011-2012. Devon demolished Richard Lupkes at the MGM Grand in 2011, Richard gave Denis a very good fight in 2011. Hard to imagine that Denis could get much stronger to challenge Devon's experience and versatility. Devon got much weaker after and got surgery. I don't think 2008-2011 Devon could win 2015 or 2018 Denis though. Current Devon has much better chances

@@karunak5983 mike beat Pushkar on the right dominantly around that same time. Denis’s and Pushkars right arm matches were good matches. Mike almost did it again at Pushkars peak in 2017. Denis last pull with Pushkar was like 2014 or so if my memory serves me correctly. He didn’t pull him right arm when he was killing everyone. He was supposed to in 2018. Denis was always in wars on the right arm and his technique wasnt as good. I think he’s a better arm wrestler today.

@@Dmgolfer22 Mike beat him oncr in a tournament..and while that's still meaningful you get a good measure of how athletes stack up over multiple meetings..consider Ron Bath vs John ..Ron beat him 6-7 times and he's amazing but he lost 17 times..Travis beat John about 4-5 times and lost at least 25 times..so you even out the variations and get a more reliable comparison that way.. Pushkar was better in later but still phenomenal while Denis was killing him..I agree with you in that Denis is probably better in terms of technique today ..I never quite noticed the difference in that aspect on right vs the left though ..interesting observation

You are right. Denis was the epitomy of the extremely gifted hard working and also ultimately enhanced athlete. And he paid the price, almost fatally. I know the use of PEDs is everpresent in today's sports at that level, but the degree of PED abuse varies greatly and ultimately the best of the best are the ones who are willing to also take the biggest health risks. Just like Dennis, just like Levan. And the common pattern, is that it doesn't last. In the sport of armwrestling especially, where an athlete can be successful even at older ages compared to other sports, it is very obvious how shortlived the success of such athletes is. Devon is at peak shape of his life, give or take, while others younger have already struggled or are about to, with life/death health situations. To me this is valuable truth because I am nearing 40. Athletes like John Breznk and Devon inspire me, in that they still compete and doing what they love at older ages, especially Devon who is younger and still super relevant and punching above his weight. How amazing and inspiring is that. People usually ignore this dark side of every sport, they just like to cheer on the higher numbers.

Voevoda idolized John and prepared like maniac to beat him..John never trained anywhere near as hard and 2004 was a low point in his career when he was mulling retirement..he didn't do very well in 2005 either even though he's bulked up a bit..didn't place in any category at Zlotys 2005..then he went on a tear from 2006-2009 and won several titles at Zloty..a rematch with Voevoda was scheduled for 2006 and there's a good chance John would have won that one
