Stanley makes some excellent crescent nwrenches which are fairly tight and hold their settings very well. Their 6 inch at Amazon is less than $16. Might make it easier getting those fan blade fasteners loose.

Every new install gets an Intermatic AG3000 surge protector installed at the condenser and furnace. It’s cheaper than 2 free warranty calls for us. We also offer them to new customers for a modest price on existing equipment.

Curtis, I bet you could change those motors blindfolded. You have probably have changed many in your sleep. A surge could do it, but probably not. One may have been hanging by a thread and just sitting up may have finished it off. Nice work

Remember when an electric motor would run for 50 years... even if you never oiled it. And surges never phased them.

Such a motor could be made today if folks were willing to pay for it. They are not, so "good enough" motors at prices that consumers will sit still for are used.

@mxslick506 ай бұрын
Most likely not a surge (which would have fried the control board if it was strong enough to take out both motors) but more likely one of two things: One, an extended brownout or two, spiders got into the windings of the motors and shorted them out.
@JimAlderson-cn6ek6 ай бұрын
Would agree probably not a surge but in hvac first rule don't rule out any thing and if a brown out why not the compressor to witch is most aseptable to brown outs best advice is wat curtis is doing don't over think it replace wats wrong check all tolerances and go home relax and have a beer
@mxslick506 ай бұрын
@@JimAlderson-cn6ek Why not the compressor? Because it has a built-in overload, wheres the blower and condenser motors usually don't. Yes, it is more susceptible but it will cycle on and on with the overload, as the other two won't, they'll sit there and cook.
