With an all-aspect VLO fighter, altitude is life. It adds to the slant range that the enemy's radar has to travel along to detect you, while also allowing you to shoot them before they can get close enough to even get a lock. Basically, your slant range to the target is the scale that you look at to determine how far away the 'MAR' (the MAR for stealth A/C is basically at what distance the target can get a track which is good enough for a firing solution. This is because the range at which they can detect and track VLO A/C, like the F-22, is multiple times smaller than the front quarter NEZ of pretty much all but the oldest and smallest, Soviet-era missiles. Once you realize that in this setup, if they can fire at you, you are almost certainly within the MAR of their missiles, it makes much more sense to supercruise up as high as you can get. Your missiles get very good launch parameters, you are in a very high energy state whist not burning that much fuel and you never need to get anywhere close to that danger zone around 15-20nm (a flat 20nm MAR against the Su-35S seems like a safer choice, especially with regards to its IR EOS capabilities.). The F-22 is also kinematically good enough so that it should always be able to dictate the engagement, keeping that ~20nm between it and the enemy, but we see none of that here. Also, the c-5 is *really* bad, even against mid-level AI, but especially when compared to the modded missiles that the Russians get.

This isn't accurate because they gave the su57 a lower rcs rhan the raptor and a better radar when we know its not true. F22 raptor rcs is an order of magnitude smaller than the game version because of "balance". Alter the numbers to reflect real life. Su57 is .1rcs at best

@@Annonymous0283745 exactly. Kind of begs the question of why bother with stealth at all at that point. All it has is thrust vectoring and maneuvering. And given Russia's poverty who knows if the actual capability of the su57 matches the claims. The exposed riveting is the first obvious giveaway this is a propaganda jet because serious stealth absolutely will not have any exposed rivets or panels. Plus this game is made by russians. The fact they overpower the su57 and nerf the f22 while claiming balance is an obvious indicator of this. The F22 model still doesn't have thrust vectoring. Stealth model is extremely simplistic. With raytrace modeling common in games now they can raytrace radar signals to simulate reflections and add an absorption characteristic to the stealth aircraft to approximate the actual performance at most angles. The only thing they couldn't reasonably account for is the internal structure of the aircraft's effects on radar.

DCS has intentionally nerfed NATO vs. Russia from the getgo because DOD would demand to know their sources if they went beyond the published data (which is at least 50% nerfed for OPSEC). Russia on the other hand brags about capabilities it does not (and has never) actually had, which are also taken at face value by DCS. Honestly I used to watch this channel a lot more before Ukraine happened and he suddenly decided "This is the ultimate simulator for real life!". It's not. Not even close.

The last time, when Russian SAM sites were somehow opening fire on B-2s at a decent range, it was a big clue that this game is incapable of modelling actual RCS parameters. And if the F-22 doesn’t have LPI AESA radar, it’s even more pointless.
@Xenomorphine
@Xenomorphine 2 жыл бұрын
@@kartikaslia9810 No, completely untrue. F-22s and F-35s have routinely flown at very close range around Russian anti-air sites over Syria and they never change their alert level, allowing them to leisurely vacuum up lots of valuable emissions data from them. They are never detected, much less ever tracked. The reason wasn’t that. I mean, why would it be? Turkey can detect its OWN planes? That wouldn’t be an issue. The problem, as detailed on sites like Strategy Page and elsewhere, was that if a nation purchases Russian or Chinese SAMs, that means Russian/Chinese technicians have to visit them for periodic maintenance. The F-35 has a game-changing, huge advantage of being able to plug directly into an operator nation’s integrated defence network, which allows it to launch weapons from ANY other platform in theatre, from artillery to warships, at targets it is designating. It effectively gives them an unlimited magazine and not need to fire any if their own weapons. Russian technicians would have been able to gain access to that critical new NATO capability, analyse and then copy it. This was regarded as an intolerable possibility. That’s why the transfer never happened. It had nothing to do with Russian SAMs somehow being capable of detecting or tracking them. After all, if they could, it would mean stealth is suddenly obsolete, which it clearly isn’t. Plus, both Russia and China have been pouring billions into their own (inferior) stealth technology. If stealth was no longer a valid technology, they wouldn’t be doing that.

As a matter of fact, DCS radically oversimplifies and probably massively over-represents the abilities of stealth technology. RCS is not a single number in real life. Radar returns are attenuated to greater or lesser degrees, depending upon the angle the radar is hitting the aircraft from. So a 5th generation fighter may have the radar return of a large insect from some angles, but from others it probably has the return of a bus. Add to this that the stealth geometry is optimized for straight and level flight, and the moment control surfaces start deflecting, you start returning a lot more radar, and things get a lot more uncertain. Now that’s not to say that the air defense radars the Russians are using always perform as advertised either, but one detection ruins a surprise, so DCS’s consistency and predictability generally favor stealth more than real life.

You would probably do well to keep your own radars off until quite late, and maintain altitudes above 35000 feet for your initial AMRAAM launches. The bandits can see your radars for hundreds of miles and will vector themselves in your direction until they can see you. If your radars are off, they won't know where to look initially, giving you a chance to use their radars to vector in on them and volley fire AMRAAMs from effective ranges well outside their abilities to detect you.

@@eustace2c2 so.. its all just theories and speculation! LOL!!! to be serious though. most of the stuff you mentioned are already employed by NON stealth fighters. its not just a thing for "top of the line stealth fighters". actually these technologies have been around for a few years already. ever heard of electronic counter measures(ECM)? what about electronic jamming? jamming is about sending "the false returns" you are talking about. common modern jets like the f16 have this ability(except old models). alot of other jets too. you can even have stronger jamming by using ECM pods specifically designed for more powerful jamming. the su34 and su35 can use pods like these. you can also do jamming with your main radar. the more powerful the radar, the more effective the jamming. the eurofighter typhoon, su35, f22, f35 and others can do electronic warfare with their radars. the one on the su35 and f22 are quite powerful btw. they have big high powered radars. some electronic warfare are already modelled in the game for some certain jets.

I mean from the tacview, that northern flight was almost at 90 degrees to the F22's. That RCS number everyone floats only applies directly head on at co-altitude. From a lower altitude looking at an entirely different aspect of the aircraft makes it far far more visible. Flankers also have data link so if any of them get a return, they all know where you are. Between both the F22 and Su35 being fan made mods, I doubt that this was a realistic simulation, but what occurred is probably within the realm of possibility.

Also, it seems like the AI cannot provide that much of a challenge for a talented human pilot, so in some future mission, I suggest you have a GrimReapers crew versus Growling Sidewinder, Long Shot and their crew match-up. Your side posts videos from your perspective, and their sides posts videos from their perspectives. Preferably, either China vs US missions, or Russia vs European planes, or US and Europe vs Russian planes, or Chinese versus Japanese, South Korean, and Indian planes. Note that the latest Growling Sidewinder video is about a new AI update, which supposedly much improves the AI, but which has not gone live yet. Is the DF-21D modeled yet? It would be really interesting to see a carrier operating in a area that might be held at risk with DF-21Ds, hopefully with the TV camera terminal missile guidance, ideally. But, of course, then you'd need US subs with cruise missiles to hold the land-based anti-ship and air defense systems at risk.

The Su-57 has technically 2-3 stealth mishaps, there is a couple of big screws that make the radar cross section bigger, but not disastrous, but what is, is the Su-57 canopy, it almost ruins the entire stealth capabilities! If you look, you cant hardly see behind you in the Su-57 because the ejection seat is located all the way rearward and the internal bays jut up to the back of the seat so the canopy had to be raised at its peak point to ensure the ejection seat cleared the cockpit. This is what I've read and matches up closely while looking at the cockpit design. They were off a little in cockpit design and the canopy had to be heightened. If you look at it side by side with the F-22 and F-35 you can notice a great deal in the design especially next to the F-22 Canopy.

as far as I understand it the su-57 is ment to fight stealth fighters on wild-weasle missions so under cover of large networked radar stations, s-400s s-300s L-band installations. stealth fighters if they want to maximize their advantage have to fly very carefully planed missions to optimize the angles they expose and generally speaking L-band can tell you where they are (even if it cant lock them for a firing solution) having to deal with an su-57 in these conditions sounds a lot tougher, its fast its manouverable, it has good radars, it will know your general location and have IRST and if it can force you to take evasive manouvers or enter combat chances are it will be picked up, tracked and target illuminated by one of the ground stations. pitting an f22 and a su57 over neutral territory obviously gives the f22 an advantage, but thats like its not a very realistic scenario

Something else to consider: Russia has nonexistent friend or foe (IFF) technology. That's why their air defense radars are turned off most of the time so they don't shoot down their own planes. Might be why the radar on moskva didn't work. If you risk shooting down your own planes when they're on combat missions then you have no air defense. Basically if Russian planes are on patrol then the s400 has to be turned off.

Either it's because they don't work or the IFF on Russian planes don't work making it an operational risk to keep them on. So I don't know if you know about it, but there is a simulator called Command: Modern Operations. The commercial version is available for purchase on Steam and Matrix Games. It's a bit costly, but I think you will really like it. It's not a flight sim like DCS but rather at the broader operational level (you command units rather than flying them yourself). I think it's perfect for these videos you make. You can use it in videos like these alongside DCS and maybe compare the two. All the aircraft in this video are already in the base version so you don't have to rely on mods which may cause problems as seen in this video. And the reason I asked this is, since I'm not familiar with the F-22, I noticed you open the hatch for refueling. As I heard cap said to make sure you open that, does that then automatically close afterwards? Because if it doesn't then you're not stealthy anymore. Do they both have data-link with the A-50? Would it be possible to get enough of a radar return from an F-22 with both the Mig-31 and A-50 radar painting the F-22 that with datalink between all aircraft involved (triangulation of a rough position) that a good enough firing solution could be worked out to fire a missile with some chance of success for a hit? At what range would this be viable? If not possible with an F-22 would something like this work against something less stealthy like an F-35? If you gonna use Ace Combat Music then I recommend music from Ace Combat 0. I believe it’s Called Ace Combat The Belkan War in the UK.

This same thing happened to GS on his channel. For whatever reason, the Su-35 can easily see the F-22 in DCS. Makes no sense

maybe AI used data link and EO sensors with radar as range finder... also what makes f-22 all frequency not visible they are great at 1.5 ghz and up, bellow (1.5ghz) its range of detection is exponentially extended ... again AI must have utilized some other assets that human factor on red side last time didn't.. you might wanna check into that..

Something was fucky there, F22s were visible way before they should have been, the A50 and ground radar were well out of detection range for your RCS... You did shut your fuel doors didn't you?

Cap, I just love watching you guys carryout different scenarios! I think I've watched them all know so you guys need to MAKE SOME MORE NOISE!...lol! How about maybe a few A10 Warthog on those russian tanks that's protected by some F22s for aerial support, followed by a naval attack of our best warplanes against russian ships. ABSOLUTELY a video attack on Crimea under secrecy as a joint attack with Ukrainian forces to retake the naval submarine base there with as much intact as possible for the Ukrainians to use Russia's own equipment against them! This attack with keeping some of the Russian ships alive as possible would DEFINITELY be a WIN - WIN because Crimea would be back under their control AND they would have Russian naval ships and at least 1 submarine to carryout an attack on the Kerch Bridge destroying more of it than just 1 section to ensure Russia can't rebuild it quickly and it would sever Russian resupply leaving just the East as Russia's only chance of infiltrating Ukraine. Ukrainian Forces would only have to focus on 1 area then ultimately creating a kill box of eastern mine fields, kinda like between North and South Korea. Thanks guys for all of your work!
