On point 4 of the viewer complaints, I fully expect that a multi-regiment bomber raid launching from Russia will be identified (subs/satellites/whatever) before it even leaves its own airspace so having defenders airborne is realistic, even if it's just a CAP over Guam rather than having assets out actively looking for them approaching

The People’s Champ on form again!! Beautiful shot Simba on that first Hail Mary Bear you downed!! I feel like viewington’s regularly recognize Simba’s flight skills, but don’t often recognize his ability to get the most out of any aircraft or weapons system. He’s consistently the guy with the best fuel conservation, and also consistently putting his aircraft in the best position to get the most out his weapons. People’s Champ indeed!! Great flying as always Grim Reapers!!

Guam generally has three Arleigh-Burke destroyers tasked with missile defense. In future they will be replaced with AEGIS ashore, which will free those ships for other duties. I think any defense of Guam should always have those ships present. Maybe CH can create an AEGIS ashore system?

Yeah, in the very near future, Guam is going to become one of the most heavily defended places in the world. It's already got several THAAD sites, it's getting Aegis Ashore with a SPY-6 equivalent radar and SM-2/SM-3/SM-6 missiles, it will have multiple Patriot sites, multiple NASAMs/US equivalent sites, and multiple C-RAM sites, plus one or two other types of air-defense sites that I'm forgetting right now. In total there will be like 20+ air defense sites around the island, creating a multi-layered, interlocking air defense network, presumably all tied into the Aegis combat system. It's reportedly going to be capable of defending against nearly any conceivable threat.

I would argue that 2 regiments of Bear bombers would be immediately detected and tracked, given US, Japanese and Korean surveillance capabilities. Also, US satellite surveillance would have detected the Bears being amassed long before they even took off and would have been tracked once they did take off. Given that they took such a route that took them east of Guam, they would have been given such a high threat priority (fear of actually attacking Pearl Harbor) that F-22's would have been tracking them visually as soon as possible. Note: a pair of F-14's intercepted a Bear 1200 miles before it could locate a carrier naval group and a pair of F-22's intercepted a Bear and took pictures without the Bear even knowing they were there. So, i will argue that you are grossly underestimating the capabilities of the American military's ability to detect and deal with a 50+ year old bomber. This simulation, while fun, does a disservice to the capabilities of the American military, especially since Russia can't even handle Ukraine. Just saying.

Currently there is no OTH radar near Guam that I know of. However I suspect they see those planes from further away than in this simulation. Guam doesn’t have a patriot system currently. It does have a THAAD system and an Israeli iron dome system. They are putting in a patriot system, an Aegis ashore system, and a SPY-7 radar and a TOTH radar system on Palau which is 800m from Guam. The TOTH will be finished by 2026. Then they will see anything from bare minimum 500-1000 miles. The stats on the TOTH are very tight lipped atm.

The thing about that first video is that a few minutes made a crucial difference. The Raptors slaughtered the Bears. Unfortunately, the Bears had launched their cruise missiles literally 3 or 4 minutes earlier. Thise few minutes made a huge difference, and it's almost impossible to script it tight enough to get an even contest. It's almost certain to be an overwhelming victory one way or the other. What would happen IRL? Who knows...

The kh101 is used as a swarm weapon instead of a long range weapon. These missiles have a range of 2500+km with some ministry of defence claims of up to 4500km. They cruise at very high altitude, 6000meters high to get an edge in range and then dive down on approach to the target, flying at 30m. The bombers carrying these are not in danger of fighter jets and the attack will not be detected untill the very final part of it. The awacs if its on the air will see the treat the last 100 or maybe even lower km. This is about 10 minutes of time. The patriot and cram are the only way to defend the island. Ofc, the amount of missiles will be much lower, try 2 bombers with 16 kh100 missiles.

Here's a thought: Most of the base's planes wouldn't be ready to take off at a moment's notice for a surprise attack. To simulate that, don't have any AI planes, but when the humans of the first wave are out of missiles, have them despawn, then return as the pilots of the next wave. That way they don't have to return to base, and get maximum boom-boom!
@tristandaries1129
@tristandaries1129 Жыл бұрын
On that second point, if there was a full scale strike with 22 tactical bombers and that many fighters in one foreign base, there probably would already be some sort of war going on between the 2, so hypothetically I see no problem with there being that amount of missiles, since none of this would have happened without at least preparation

Question on hardware for all the experienced flight simmers: is anyone using or has used the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog or the T.16000m FCS HOTAS? Opinions/thoughts? I'm a rookie to flight sims and though I'm happy being a casual gamer, I would like to feel immersed in it. The hope is to eventually go PCVR with a HOTAS system. I've only ever used a simple joystick and played on "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" and "F-15 Strike Eagle". Yes, that's how long ago it was. And yes, that's how old I am....lol. Hardware brands are limited here in my country. The main gaming gear brands with authorised agents here are Logitech G, Thrustmaster, Moza, Next Level Racing, and the odd used Saitek. Some of them are more racing than flying, but I do play driving sims. I was thinking of buying a cheap, used Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X or 1 to try before deciding if I want to take the plunge. Would appreciate suggestions/advice. Thanks in advance.

It wouldn't have changed anything, but fighter escorts can absolutely fly over the ocean, using tankers and mid-air refuelling. I don't suspect they'd actually _do_ it (largely because it wouldn't change anything), and it'd be pretty unpleasant for the pilots to be sitting in the cockpit that long, but I don't see why it _couldn't_ be done.

So Canada is upgrading is cf-18 hornets with the f35 - imo - it would have been better for Canada to have gone with the super hornet or the f-15ex - cheaper aircraft but cheaper to operate and no need to upgrade the mechanics and building logistics from 4th gen to 5th gen. What if a friendly plane suddenly switches side and starts attacking friendly planes/assets. Does Patriot systems (or any system at all) could automatically recognizes it as a threat?

highly doubt it. If anything id assume that sam sites would use IFF or something similar and unless that person did something with their transponder i dont think any automatically controlled thing would fire on them

Only one question: would the bears really come from the east to attack Guam? That is only issue I would have. Other than Japan having a heads up on a mass flight heading out of Mother Russia. And the fuel requirements of da Bears. The 15000 km range MAY make it feasible...with it being empty...fully loaded closer to 9 or 10. Regardless they would be down 2 flights of Bears.

LOL yes I just brought it up on a map and you are right. For some reason I thought Guam is where Midway is.

sorry but "russia doesn't have that many missiles" argument is great considering the amount of aim 260s that were launched and how they're barely in service yet LOL

Cap: If you really, absolutely *have to* insert "present day" / Daily Mail coding into stuff (eg "dark skin: demonetised waaa" in a monetized vid) maybe consider switching to "that's what she said" humour? It's just as cheesy, but it'd fit better with your spunk filled boyz loving schtick - especially with today's wonderful "that was a quick 6 minutes" intro, and would allow those of us who aren't obsessed with American culture wars to continue with the relaxing suspension of disbelief 👊
