I always watch this show and I’m 14 years old so it’s never been on tv for me. I think this show is the funniest thing ever and me and my dad both love watching it! I feel so old to see Michael so old now but I’ve always been used to seeing him at this age. Frank Spencer is the funniest character ever and Michael plays him so well. I hope I get to meet Michael one day to tell him all the joy that this show has brought me and how funny the character Frank is, it would be a dream come true!

I dont think the POTO voice was quite developed here. He could sing but it wasn't deep and rich as the Phantoms.
@droses16002 жыл бұрын
It's actually a very difficult thing to do - to sing out of tune and time, even though you are highly skilled at it. Like Les Dawson - he used to play really badly for comic effect, whereas in actual fact he was a virtuoso.

Mr. Frank "Lock Up Your Daughters" Spencer? . . . I don't wanna know. Seriously, though, Michael was the best in that role. No wonder people at the time looked at Frank and went, "HE'S going to be the Phantom of the Opera? You're kidding, right?" :)
@shanecorcoran82255 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I'm a huge 'Phantom' fan and I'm currently binge watching this fantastic series and every time as the credits roll, (especially after this episode!) I find myself thinking... He's a CBE, which is the level of honour just below a knighthood - but he should really have one. Broadway, Phantom of the Opera, Some Mothers, coached Torvill and Dean, extensive charity work. There are knights and dames with a lot less achievements.

Yes it is Christopher Timothy. Yes it is the same Michael Crawford who played the Phantom. And yes, Norman Wisdom was the first choice to play Spencer. I think there's been a bit of dialogue cut out here. Doesn't he say "I can't go too fast, because of my Vesuvius. On my back" ? Or something like that. I'm sure he says "Vesuvius" somewhere. I'm thinking back to when I saw it as a kid. I haven't forgotten this scene even after 20 years. LOL Funny thing. Spike's Trigger in Buffy always had me in stitches because I kept thinking of Frank Spencer. LOL
