Plus Lelouch has experience or at least the capacity to identify unnatural powers and their exact properties and limitations through a single encounter. Look at rolo and if you take the new films as cannon, that one girl who has to die to go back in time. Lelouch identified the nature of the power, then figured out the mechanics and proceeded to exploit/neutralize them by putting her to sleep instead of killing her thus making killing her irrelevant and still waited the necessary time frame before doing anything to her just incase.

Notably if you all watched the movie (SPOILERS) Lelouch was able to figure out that someone had the power to rewind time (well he narrowed it down to either his power or the power to rewind time), but was able to pinpoint exactly how far back in time they could go, and tricked them to reveal it. He has the advantage over L that he knows supernatural powers exist and he has powers of his own. Not only would lelouch win, he would’ve caught and gotten a confession out of light in less than a week

@Ahmad munif light didnt properly assess how he could use mikami as a tool which lead to him failing light and light getting killed. Kira misusing his own tools is still his L. Compare that to lelouch who at the end has only told the whole truth to 3 other people, jeremiah, suzaku and C.C. and managed to completely control the world to set that stage. Lelouch simply had a better idea of how reliable his allies were than light did, cause lelouch was a leader and kira was an egotist.

Light as an individual character is a far more capable mind. It's not even close. Lelouch is great in the battle field as a mind, but when it comes to out thinking Light that isn't going to happen. L and Light as deductive and non war-strategist minds put Lelouch to shame. Lelouch was figured out to be Zero by people who have nowhere near the deductive or strategy abilities of those two and Near/Mello.

It should be noted as well in S1 episode 12 Lelouch was figured the names of Kyoto members and figured out who the leader is, his backstory and that he’s a double agent. Lelouch did all that in one episode without any information on the Kyoto members names or identity. Yet he did it in a matter of minutes. It should also be noted that if we’re talking Prime Lelouch which is L.L. then Light could never win. Lelouch has Code which means he’s immortal so you can’t kill him. Plus he still has his Geass power so Light can’t win

You forget 1 thing Lelouch doesn't need to make direct eye contact a reflection would do just fine, so he doesn't even need to face Light as turning his back would do, which is how I think that would end with Lelouch turning his back on Light saying he was just a false God, while Lelouch is the emperor of the world!

Honestly I think the real issue here is that Light is at WAY too much of a Disadvantage here. Not in terms of intelligence persay, maybe, but everything else. Namely, Lelouch is basically someone who actually wants to save the world. He’s the sortve person Light and L pretend to be. In terms of ideology and any contest of motivations, Lelouch would diagnose Light the minute he started killing members of the security team. Up until that point, I don’t even know if Lelouch would be inclined to consider Light an enemy. He’s a pragmatist after all. He could very well see Kira as a misguided but practical solution to evil individuals, and seek him out discreetly at first, but once it became clear what sortve person Light really is, Lelouch would drop him. Using Geass to access records regarding the killings, he’d just have figure the average time criminals died between when they appeared in a news broadcast during Kira’s “work hours” then use Geass to cause a delay to news broadcasts of criminals. From there he’d narrow it down based on the delay, and find Light, all without putting Light on guard. From there it’s over. The moment Lelouch has his suspects that short, Kira is dead. He’d just Geass them. “Are you Kira?” “Yes” “how do you do your killings?” “*comprehensive explanation of the Death Note”. “Kill yourself.” Lelouch wouldn’t need to faff about. Light has no chance of winning, especially Late Game Lelouch, whose actually immortal.

Kira's biggest problem was containing his victims to Japan only. Had he started with a figure in another country, and actively killed off other people from other countries, he couldve thrown the detectives off, they wouldn't know what country Kira resides in. I'm sure everyone knows a few criminal or politians just by memory, so he wouldn't need news broadcasts at first, or he'd watch OLD news broadcasts via a virtual machine connected to a VPN with a fake host in another country. The very first flaw Kira made, was using the death note for someone in his own country, in his own city, on his own area. That unexpected discrepancy was traced back and that's why they found him as quickly as they did. What he should have done was go through a dozen or more in a certain country like the US, Russia, or China because they're big, huge countries, that would make the detectives think he resides in that area, meanwhile he could do a dozen criminals in every country he can come across, but most importantly saving the worst ones for his own country. And he would need to split them in different cities.

Well with geass he can’t do all three things, he would have to actually kill light himself that way. It’s still hard though if he’s under the rules of death note which means under the restrictions of the law, so he can’t just straight up kill Light without consequence since even if he admits to being Kira others did that in the death note series. If light also somehow manages to figure out Lelouch has some sort of power he could also erase his memory, but Lelouch is obviously at such a great advantage with geass, but he’s going to have to prove light is Kira without just a confession unless he does it in a creative way.

The main reason Light beat L is because L's self-imposed win condition was to prove, in the eyes of the law, that Light was Kira. The law has no rulings on magic, even though L spent 20-ish episodes knowing the truth of Kira's identity. Even when fighting Near and Mellow, they both know of his guilt immediately as well, despite all of L's data being wiped. Lelouch, however, doesn't care about the law. The moment he has reason to suspect Light, he's ordering a hit or Geassing him to confess.

That’s not a fair assessment of Light if you’re bringing up just Episode 2, which is EARLY Death Note where Light didn’t embrace the Kira persona. That alone just discredits his feats of: 1) Using sheets of the death note to kill and keeping a piece in his watch 2) A failsafe to burn the evidence of the Death Note 3) Exploiting the rules of the Death Note and Creating Fake Rules to cover his tracks 4) The galaxy brain play where he forfeit his ownership of the Death Note and accurately predicted the course of the anime, down to the minor details of the fake rule being the accepted reason, Higuchi got killed and Light and Misa getting their names cleared (Fale rule being: If Kira doesn’t kill in 13 Days, they die. Light and Misa were incarcerated for weeks/months 5) Manipulated a God of Death 6) Made L, the Number 1, 2 and 3 Greatest Detective and someone who preventer WWIII, depressed. 7) And notice that Light alone didn’t lose. He lost because he relied on the people he manipulated to get the job done 8) This Man even had AMERICA bowing to him On another note, it really depends on what the victory condition is, whether it is apprehend Light or Kill him. Lelouch does win in most encounters but I’m not going out Light because of two factors. 1) Lelouch can’t use the Geass on the same person twice in a row in the moment. If he uses it to discover Light’s identity, it could go either way in one’s favor but overall, Lelouch because he has WAY MORE OPTIONS 2) Light could take up the Shinigami Eyes. This is how I think it would result in a actual scenario of Lelouch vs Light. Lelouch and light happen to meet lets in a school festival or they are both trying out for college and since both are literally the smartest students of their respectful school they would most likely end up in the most prestige College. There Lelouch and Light meet up they introduce each other when they lets say bump into one another in the hallway, and Lelouch gives his name as Lelouch Lamperouge which is in character for him to do so. Light introduces himself as light yagami and then if light were to slip up or say something out of the ordinary that might bring Lelouch’s suspicion on him, he might 1) send out CC to sky on him or like how he manipulated the order which was watching him at first, he might get the order to watch all of lights moves etc. 2) Lelouch might just deduce that light is Kira or has some relations to kira depending on what light says. If it was the opposite and lets say Lelouch might slip up and say something (which is not in character for him to do so because Lelouch like mao says has a critic watching his every move while there is another persona of himself watching the critic, watching himself so he would be extremely aware of himself) Light at most might be able to gain a suspicion on Lelouch that he might a sky to the FBI or L however it can’t go anywhere from this inference because light has absolutely no knowledge of Lelouch’s background… Lelouch has advantage because Kira is literally publicly known killer while Lelouch’s alter ego, Zero is too a public figure. The correlation between Lelouch and Zero is as Thin as Light and Kira so to deduce that Lelouch is Zero is as hard light as it is for Lelouch to know light it kira. However, Lelouch is at the advantage to deduce light has relations to kira because Lelouch as the geass all he has to do is ask the question “are you kira?”

I think discounting all the resources Lelouch has at his disposal, Lelouch would still win. An element of Death Note that I don't think people realize is that Light thinks he's way smarter than he actually is. It's just that Light has a killing method absolutely no one expects to be possible. But aside from that controversy, I think part of what makes Lelouch faster is just how quickly his plans are thought out. Sure, the big time ones have careful preparation but more often than not, Lelouch is able to see just a specific tweak in a battle and is able to adjust to account for it. And most of Lelouchs plans work a lot, he rarely loses. Meanwhile I think Light does himself a lot throughout the show and part of it is the entire point of the show, trying to kill L. Yes, it wouldn't be as entertaining, but Light purposefully leads L to suspect the police and gets close to Ray Pember to kill him. Two major elements which allows L to zero in on Light. I honest think that Lelouch, while a close fight, beats Light in terms of complex problem solving.

@DA BEAST Did they? He get's played. A lot. 2nd episode speaks for itself. L is able to connect Ray Pember back to Kira. L in episode 8 immediately suspects light. L is able to connect the time that Misa found Kira was when Light went to the Note Blue. A lot of what light gets away with is similar to Lelouch's Geass power, a method that is just totally inconceivable. Also I could point to everything after episode 25 as Light's plans consistently going wrong all of the time.

@DA BEAST Again. I highly disagree, Light used the death note every time to wriggle himself out of situation after situation. He Ray Pember, his wife, the potato chip scene, to get out of confinement, to locate Mello’s base, even Naomi’s death was something that only helped them with the death not scrap he had in his watch. Also it took Light a while before he could figure out plans that would work, the Naomi situation is a good example as it was planned out beforehand. Meanwhile, Lelouch is more adaptive, coming up with plans on the fly to wriggle out of situations like a game of chess.

C saves lelouch twice, both against measures that were really too big for Lelouch to control, he was helplessly outnumbered by Cornelia (not to mention the terrorists with him did nothing) and once at Narita (because Suzuku has the special weapon of Lancelot) C) Euphy’s massacre was a problem that he didn’t even have enough time to know of as C. C realized what was happening to Lelouch’s geass moments before he lost control of it and told Euphy to kill the Japanese. D) The statement you said about Light using the death note less after Higuchi’s is 100% true. Though mind you this is exactly when Light starts to lose. Getting baited by Mello twice. Relying on people like the TV show host and Mikami, and not mention Light being dumb enough to say “Well Near looks like I win.”. Who in their right mind would do that? I mean I could see Lelouch saying something like that out loud but having the foresight to at least do it in the zero outfit, but Light is trying to hide his identity and for someone who is so smart he sure does take a lot of risks. Lelouch does the same but it’s always something that would push towards victory in the end. Plus I feel as though Lelouch’s plays on the board are a lot more impressive than Light’s as Lelouch would make use of his Geass power a lot but doesn’t rely on his power as much as you see Light do throughout the course of the show, resulting in Lelouch’s moves being far more impressive. Not to mention Lelouch does a better job at studying the people around him and how to exploit them (Cornelia, Euphemia, Suzaku, Charles, Shenizal), something we don’t see light try to do with the police. Once again. I’m not saying that Light’s moves aren’t impressive, they 100% are and ofc you would use everything at your disposal. I just think that saying Light is smarter than Lelouch is just wrong (and this may be bias talking bc I do think Lelouch is a better written character) due to the amount you see Lelouch use when he is not relying solely on Geass compared to most of Light’s moves which are effective because of the death note’s power.

It makes me realize how weird it is to compare the 2 as a whole as they are used differently but fair play. I feel like this is a tricky scenario, Lelouch's area of expertise is strategy not mystery. I can picture Lelouch making some progress but he obviously wouldn't be making the same progress that L did. However one of the things Lelouch has going for him is that unlike L, Lelouch wouldn't be trying to capture Kira to arrest him and win some game of pride to inflate his ego. The moment Lelouch finds out who Kira is he's not going to hesitate in using his Geass to make Light end himself. Also the moment Lelouch starts suspecting people like Misa he would definitely use his Geass to make them tell him what they know and if that person personally knows Kira like in the case of Misa then it's game over for Light. The only thing that I can think of that might hold Lelouch back is whether or not news of a disowned Britannian prince would be readily available on the internet where Light might be able to discover Lelouch's true identity. Of course that's assuming Light already knows about Lelouch which is doubtful since I can't imagine Lelouch openly letting Light know that he's after him like L did, and since Lelouch wouldn't have ties to the police like L then it would be EVEN LESS likely that Light would find out about Lelouch.

Regarding Lelouch's intelligence, that part is a win in his favor. If you expand your research to audio dramas part of the DVD collection, you'd find a lot of feats involving Lelouch predicting an entire chess match the rivalz was losing, writing the moves his opponent was going to make, take rivalz's seat, win and show others the notes he wrote which ended being absolutely accurate. Another feat where he formulated a plan on the fly when robbers that invaded the bank he was in, using Geass to make them think he had a bomb on him, all while not raising suspicions from his friends nearby. In another one, just like light he was able to think of many things at once.. But in this case, hundreds of different possibilities, subtracting, adding them on the spot based on stuff others said within milliseconds, and even planned exit routes to escape... And it was just because of a grain of rice in his teeth that the others were too scared to tell him about. He's incredibly smart especially when overly paranoid

Lelouch is really cautious and does things by himself more often. Also, Kira is likely to be destined to lose since he wants to be a "king". After that he saw how Light's profile matches Kira and deduced Light is Kira, not to mention how Light slipped up during his test. This isn't speculation, he's using lines of reasoning on top of another to reach an extremely likely conclusion. Even if the probability in his head was 90% or 98%, the fact remains his deduction was correct every step of the way. Speculation is mere theorising whereas L had a very firm line of reasoning and an extremely likely conclusion. His deduction was correct all the way. I think Lelouch's greatest advantage is that, for the duration of the conflict, he could simply have C.C pose as Zero like when he approached Kyoto Group. Even if Light or Misa or any other Death Note user find out C.C's face and name with Shinigami Eyes, she's basically immune to it. The Black Knights also all wear black masks to conceal their identities (at least at first in season 1), so Light would be really hard-pressed to attack even Lelouch's powerbase. Other than that, there's one major flaw in Light's general strategy, and that's his overreliance on the Death Note to kill his enemies and the fact Ryuk won't lift a finger to help him in any way. Lelouch has his Geass, yes, but he's also got the Black Knights and Knightmare Frames on his arsenal, a literal guerrila terrorist army with mechas AND an immortal partner that can lead the manhunt for him. Light only has Misa and Kira worshippers like Takada and Mikami, but they are unlikely to have nearly enough manpower, skills or gear to even stand a chance even if they were an AU Kira Cult that originated in Code Geass World; most of them would be "lowly Elevens" who would hard pressed to acquire Knightmare Frames and learn how to pilot them, especially since none of them are likely to be cowardly "Honorary Britannians" like Suzaku who would join up with Britannia (can you imagine people like Light, Misa, Higuchi, Takada or Mikami licking the Britannians' boots?). Lelouch wouldn't care about directly facing Kira unless he strictly wished to interrogate him. He doesn't care about "proving" himself out of pride like L did, and would just unload his guns on Light if he felt it was more trouble than it was worth trying to capture and interrogate Light.

Another thing is Light most likely wouldn't be able to join the police force either as there's a very high chance Lelouch would use Geass on all the members to respond to whatever he asks if he does a certain pose or something (like how he used Geass on schneizel to force him to follow all of Zero's orders, or how he used Geass on Guilford to recognize him as Cornelia whenever he does a certain hand pose). i personally thing that the first two rounds would easily go to Lelouch . Lelouch was able to create the United Federation of Nations with the chinese federation using manipulation and strategy as well as winning the masses easily even after having to rebuild his army due to the failure of the black rebellion which Lelouch would have succeeded if he didn't leave to find Nunnally, He also tricked Schneizel one of the only people who can match his intellect with his recording a trick he also used with Mao someone who can read minds. As far as strategy goes he won against the Democles and the Black Knights at the same time by using the sakuradite or the time he used air bubbles to save the black knight after he had finally brought himself together after being conflicted about the "Special Zone" Nanaly proposed, the first fight with Britania where they had one Knightmare and Lelouch finished the fight himself by killing Clovis and there is also the Battle of Narita where Lelouch turned the tables being close to ending the Britanian army in Japan due to almost capturing Cornilia. Light is quite smart but compering the situation he and Lelouch where against i doubt Light could acomplish many of the things Lelouch did even if he had a Geass(Or Lelouch's Geass). Lelouch is a rebel leader who is also participating in the battles while light is a serial killer who kills from a distance so they are mostly not to comparable. Overall i thing the video was good and enjoyable

I haven't watched the video yet but I'll say it depends on circumstance. If Lelouch goes after Kira as his Zero persona then I don't think Lelouch will be able to solve the Kira case, even if he does have geass as from that perspective Lelouch doesn't have much way of narrowing down who Kira is. If however Lelouch is put in a position similar to L then it's possible Lelouch could make similar connections and by chance do some things better than L, but it's also possible he'd do some things worse or differently which could lead to different events taking place meaning some information might be overlooked. After watching the video I'd switch strategic planning to Lelouch and preparations to Light. Lelouch as a smart character is referred to as a great strategist whereas Light is more referred to as some who's great at deductions. As for preparations, Light prepared for if the case eventually caught up to him, having set up his door for if someone entered it and what he'd do if under surveillance where Lelouch left his room with his Zero costume in it completely unguarded. All it would take for Light to kill Zero is for him to discover his real identity in Lelouch as Misa could just look at a picture of Lelouch and tell Light. That's the endgame at least. As a smarter character overall, I still favor Lelouch though.

I just had an idea. If Lelouch would be able to control Light, could it be possible for Light to predict such a thing then write his own death in his death note? Like for example, Lelouch commands Light to kill himself. But, Light wrote in his Death Note months prior "Light Yagami dies from being under Lelouches command from trying to write his name after hearing his name?" All he would have to know is Lelouch's caviot is him saying "Lelouch Vi Brittannia commands you...." Then he could, even during a trance, write his name in the Death Note, killing them both? whichever is applied last overrides the other i'd imagine. i'm not too familiar with code geass, but the death note has a specific limitation that people under i`t's control can't actually do stuff that is impossible for them. thus if the geass was used on someone under the death notes control, the act of defying the geass would be from this point on be impossible and the death note would no longer have control over that person, until the designated time of death that is.

No matter what scenario you put them in, Lelouch has the advantage, because his power isn't as limiting. The Death Note may be able to kill people remotely, but you still need their name and face, something no one knew about Lelouch for most of the show, either by having a fake name or a mask on, or both. Lelouch needs to make eye contact with someone to use his Geass, but once they're under his control, they'll do whatever he needs for as long as he wants. The Death Note can control people like Geass does, but only a bit before they have to die. I think Light's best plan would be to manipulate Suzaku into giving him Lelouch's real name and face. I do think Lelouch would figure out the Death Note and how it works far faster than Light figuring out Geass and how it works, mainly because it's much easier to tell when someone dies via the Death Note than when someone is being Geassed.

Lights feats are impressive thats no lie, but Lelouch has far surpassed them. For Example the Shinigami eyes would be all but ineffective as Lelouch wears a mask as Zero. Light's impressive acting while under survaillence in his room isn't as impressive as Lelouch's seeing as he had his entire Home, School, and frequently visited places bugged as well as being trailed by around 47 agents every day. As an extra thing of note Lelouch's fate was already pre-planned according to his plan while Light's fate was never planned and was only due to his own failures.

very good analysis, I agree with the result, but, its kinda funny to imagine it, the way I see it, if Lelouch existed in light's world (or vice-versa), they would definitely become alies, both would recognize each other's extreme tactical skills and would want to join forces to bring down hellworld, ofc, its very likely that one of them (if not both, which would be even more likely), would betray the other, when their egos clashed, in that scenario, Lelouch would still probably win, unless he somehow failed to predict kira's betrayal (which would be extremely unlikely, if not downright impossible), but maybe, Lelouch would be merciful, and instead of downright killing kire, he could just brainwash him into never betraying him again and always staying loyal to his orders, kinda like he did with many of his foes in the anime.

I thought we were putting Lelouch in L's position, to test him as a detective and how good he'd be at that, not "What if Death Note and Code Geass had a crossover?" Let's just get two things established off the bat: 1. Lelouch has a MASSIVE advantage in the scenario you're providing. A Geass is a much better ability and is a good matchup against the Death Note. Even if it was Matsuda or Ibiki using the Geass to catch Kira, they'd almost be able to do it due to how big of a matchup advantage it is. Light won't be able to kill Lelouch unless he investigates Zero himself, which he has no reason to. Lelouch's army under his Geass is an advantage Light just doesn't have. Against L, even though he had the Death Note, Light was already at a disadvantage due to the immense resources L had. Lelouch has even more resources and a Geass on top of that. 2. Light is smarter than Lelouch, just pure intelligence-wise, and would likely become a far better strategist if he decided to study warfare. This is due to the fact that L is considered a super-genius, smarter than every human on the planet and better than several investigative bureaus as a 7 year old, and he gets even smarter as he ages. He stopped WWIII without any help from a Geass or a Death Note, and is literally smarter than anyone in Code Geass at just 7 years old. Light scales to an even smarter L, being slightly less intelligent or equal or smarter than L depending on who you ask. Meanwhile, no one in Code Geass is stated to be so smart that they're the smartest in the world or anything like that. Lelouch's battle strategies are basic ones no one with any decent amount of warfare experience would fall for. This is even more blatantly obvious when you consider that Lelouch isn't academically anywhere near as smart as Light and L. Light is at least the smartest person in Japan, whereas Lelouch never gets scaling like that. The scenario is extremely unfair for Light, and I'd agree, Lelouch would win in the scenario you posed. Now switch places between them. Give Light a Geass but give Lelouch the Death Note. Who wins now? I think even the biggest of idiots would bet on Light now.

Drop him in L’s spot and he might be less intelligent but he can use his intelligence better thanks to his charm so his ability is still better than L’s even if he doesn’t have geass just because L is antisocial and couldn’t unite people well. If lelouch was tasked with stopping kira he’d win. Lelouch would understand the danger involved and he would rally a unite together among mutual benefit. L just sucks at leadership, he’s the nerd thats right but can’t utilize his resources correctly due to distress and fear he can’t quell. Lelouch could command random terrorists he just met, Lelouch is just better, well rounded person that could structure a unit below him that could efficiently and effectively defeat kira. L and light might be smarter but they don’t have the skills that lelouch does. Intelligence without ability is really nothing in the end.

"Just watch the show" is an argument that can be used for Light as well. Many people think Light showed better feats, many people think Lelouch showed better feats (mostly because they like the character more) And just to be clear, yes, we DO need statements saying this character is this smart or that smart to scale intelligences. Marvel and DC comics are known for this. Characters like Thanos, Darkseid, Batman, etc. in the movies don't really have any intelligence feats that put them above even someone like Aizawa. But they have to be smarter than Light and all of humanity combined because they are above human intelligence entirely. This is a similar case with Light vs Lelouch, as one of them is battling against average-intelligence mind readers, braindead immortals, almost getting caught because of a fking cat, whereas the other is rivaling someone who is peak-human or greater intelligence. Lelouch's leadership isn't exactly relevant in this case. The reason Zero immediately has the loyalty of the Black Knights is because he is able to show them results right away. He beats the Britannians multiple times and gives the Japanese victory. Against Kira, no matter how good your leadership is, you can only do so much when the people you're trying to lead are about to get killed if they follow you. Lelouch wouldn't be able to get those W's on Kira to gain the support of the police anyway, unless Lelouch does the same thing L did in the 2nd episode, which I doubt he will. Without that confrontation, he won't be able to force Kira into a battle of wits and thus won't be able to deduce anything that would benefit him in the investigation. Reminder that Light only revealed information about himself to either piss L off, pressure him, or bring them closer together.

Ok so I have a lot of thoughts about this match up but I will sum up all i got as best I can. So if the fight comes to face to face, i'd say that lelouch would win thanks to his power being more useful than the death note. However if it came to a long distance (AKA: Guessing each other's indentity) I think it'd be a draw since none of them would really be able to find who the other is. Light however is smarter than Lelouch but lacks the will and drive that Lelouch has, Light is only chasing after a selfish dream while Lelouch wants world peace for his sister. So would Lelouch solve the Kira case as a detective? Probably not but depending on the circunstances he might kill Light outright due to Light's outright corrupt and insane mindset.
