US and UK will not turn on each other we are like brothers now; actually more like father and son than siblings. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Great Britain The Empire? I thought not. It's not a story the Americans would tell you. It's a European legend. Great Britain was a Great Empire of Europe, so powerful and so wise it could use the Navy to influence the natives to become colonies… It had such a knowledge of the imperial side that it could even keep the ones it cared about from losing colonies. The dark side of imperialism is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. It became so powerful… The only thing it was afraid of was losing its power, which eventually, of course, it did. Unfortunately, it taught its colony everything it knew, then its colony killed it in its sleep. Ironic. It could save others from decolonialism, but not itself.

I love the wildly over optimistic Americans - they’re good fun. They chant “USA” like they’re at a sports event and immediately assume a large military will guarantee victory but it has never worked for any of the huge military forces which have tried unsuccessfully to invade Britain before: Spanish Armada, Napoleon, Hitler - all out gunned the UK in numbers, sometimes technology and always with supreme confidence - and they all failed. Like everyone else, I’ve taken nukes out of the equation and in order to answer this question I feel you have to answer another one first: Can the US even reach the UK to invade it ? At the first sign of hostilities the five US bases in the UK would be occupied, cut off electronically from the US and closed. The personnel within them interned and all the assets; bombers, cruise missiles, fighters, munitions, comms equipment - captured and requisitioned. Huge amounts of intelligence and materiel will be garnered from this operation. It’s about 4000 miles across the Atlantic and whatever kind of fleet the US launched would have to immediately contend with the Royal Navy ships, planes and submarines stationed in and around the Caribbean before it even reached open ocean. Obviously UK subs / ships / planes / missiles / drones would ruthlessly and repeatedly target the US carriers and just damaging the carriers that far from target would probably be enough for US military planners to think again. UK would probably lose this encounter overall but the US is now in a shooting war much closer to the USA than to the UK and that is how the UK would try to keep it for as long as possible. Some US casualties already and they are not even out of home waters, support for this action at home is diminishing fast (dead sailors 100 miles from home doesn’t play well on the six o’clock news) and UK special forces are already entering the US from Canada (who is invading whom) ? The UK home fleet by this point would be massed well into the Western approaches ready to defend the Islands, of which by the way, there are many. Believe it or not the UK is made up of 6000 islands - yes, six thousand. The US had better make sure that one (or many) of those house sized rocks way off the Irish coast wasn’t actually a very specialist anti-shipping weapon that they will never have seen or heard of before (remember how the Brits kind of specialise in secret weapons)? Now consider that weird thing the Brits have that blows sulphur up from the sea bed turning the surface into foam (no ship can sail on foam). How many do they have? How far out do they go? No one knows ! It’s a very small and very rich island nation which is bristling with anti ship and anti aircraft defences. RAF fighters are in action every single day patrolling for Russian bombers prodding at the boundaries and they know their stuff - this is not Iraq. Now let’s think about the US supply line and position. By this point the US no longer has any friends in Europe so no safe harbours, no European supplies available and 4000 miles from home. No arial refuelling is feasible for US long range bombers over the Atlantic, the Mediterranean is closed to the US by now (who owns Gibraltar and the STRAITS of Gibraltar)? That’s a very long supply line back to America which is very vulnerable to UK and European subs. Russia is rubbing its hands with glee and Israel will stay completely out of it (Who has a permanent army and air base on Cyprus)? Morale in the US ships is low having never attempted a solo military attack on a developed Western nation before and having lost every air to air war game ever played with the Brits... The same pilots who lost those games are on the carriers. For real this time. The US fleet is also now being harried, maybe not directly attacked yet , but certainly bothered and hampered by a very large combined and coordinated naval force from France, Norway, Sweden, Spain - essentially the whole EU plus all of Scandinavia. The USA has by now been expelled from NATO losing out on all that offers in terms of intelligence and assistance. Europe and Scandinavia worry that if the US invades and occupies Britain it will serve as a beach head for further invasions around the region. They won’t stand by and watch for long… Assuming most or even some of the US fleet makes it across the Atlantic, as it approaches anywhere near the Irish, Cornish or Scottish coast (say 600 miles) it will be attacked relentlessly day and night by a combined and coordinated Euro and Scandinavian force of naval and air assets and although the US fleet may be huge and very strong, it simply can’t take that kind of battering. The Euro and Scandi forces are close to home, support, repair and everything that home advantage offers. A damaged French plane can land in Britain. A damaged British plane can land in Norway - and guess what - we’re all flying the same plane - the Eurofighter Typhoon so parts and pilots are available all over and behind the front line and battle space to the defending force. In contrast, all US planes must return to carriers which are under constant and relentless attack. The US fleet will have lost some ships, many air assets and lots of support and repair capabilities given that the entire effort of the Euro and Scandi forces will be against US carriers and their support vessels. Imagine the morale of a Marine on one of those boats… Imagine the morale of a paratrooper in a big fat slow C130 flying into air space which is completely dominated by the enemy with state of the art fighters - this is not Iraq. The dollar has crashed and is now worth next to nothing and 53 Commonwealth nations, all of Europe, Scandinavia plus China and Russia are crying in unison at the UN for sanctions against the US (Oil, Financial services, Diplomatic permissions). The whole world is appalled and sanctions kick in. China takes advantage and the dollar collapses. Financial free fall hits the US just as the SAS turn out the lights all over New England and New York State. Britain now deploys the requisitioned US assets against the embattled and shrinking US Fleet causing “Blue on Blue” confusion. A more realistic answer, including allies 👍🏽

The UK and it’s citizens would never surrender. The yanks would have to fight meticulously house by house hill by hill. Then, the long-running gurreila warfare that would happen after the conventional war is eventually won by America , would probably force them to leave the country eventually or come to some type of peace settlement , refer back to Vietnam and Iraq/Afghanistan.

@@AzaiReacts I understand your point and respect the American military through and through. I can accept a American victory conventionally though it would be a lot more costly than this video shows. However, I don’t feel a long term occupation of Britain would be feasible, these are tough people who have never actually capitulated to anyone in history, even after America gained its independence, it wasn’t stronger than Britain militarily until the after ww2, specifically when Britain lost its colonies. You also have to bear in mind, the guerilla warfare won’t be like anything anyone has seen before because Britain is a first world country with first world armaments, these weapons would be trickled down to the provisional-government military providing there is no peace settlement aswell as the civilian population partisans

@@liammcshane7985 the only tax enforced was the tea tax. The other taxes like stamp tax where it in place but never enforced because even parliament knew it was stupid. The US was taxed more because the empire was broke after the 7 years war. And the American colonies did little but got the most in return being the new lands taken from the French. Yes the king made his line baning further exploration past a certain point but that was to keep relations peacfull with native Americans. But either way the colonies got a shit tone more land. So parliament thought it shouldn't be to bad to tax them for a bit to recoup the money we lost. No taxation without representation was a silly concept back then and is lost in translation no with the American identy. The colonies thought them selves as Brits living overseas. Parliament saw it that way to. So you where represented by parliament. But what the colonies actually wanted was colonial diplomats to sit in parliament. The war was started for silly reasons . Because the colonies didn't wanted to be taxed. But the empire needed money after fighting a war that mainly benefited the colonies. But that's just my opinion Also if I'm not mistaken one of the reasons the 7 years war started was colonial French and colonial America's fighting over the Ohio valley.

Matches the video. Jesus wept. If these guys had been looking at say the UK in summer 1940 with the vast Nazi military machine 14 miles away across the channel and us with one tank, a few boats, a rag-bag army just fresh from a retreat, and a moderate air force they would have chalked it up for the Germans using the same erroneous logic as they have used in this video. History of-course, tells us that the Battle of Britain was won by the British. You have to remember that the English don't really get down to business until we have our backs against the wall, and then we change the game plan bringing in black swans of our own making. And they leave out one vital factor - the character of tenacity eg when we ruled Indian (of 100's of millions of people) at its peak we had no more than 100k people on the ground and bits of the Royal Navy floating about the edges.

Robert Firth Yeah well if,if,if if the Germans rode dinosaurs they would have won the war. The English and the French sat on their hands for 8 months after Germany invaded Poland allowing Germany to reinforce their position and cast those slackers into the sea at Dunkirk it was called the "Phoney War" look it up. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoney_War. (Quote from link) "At the Nuremberg Trials, German military commander Alfred Jodl said that "if we did not collapse already in the year 1939 that was due only to the fact that during the Polish campaign, the approximately 110 French and British divisions in the West were held completely inactive against the 23 German divisions." General Siegfried Westphal stated that if the French had attacked in force in September 1939 the German army "could only have held out for one or two weeks". IF... England and France had shown some back bone in 1939 the war would have been over before it started.

I have read that, partially for a real possibility of political hostility about foreign policy, partially in order to take US Army planners exercised, US General staff did elaborate a war plane for conducting a war against the British Empire in 1920-1930 ( War Plan Red). That time UK army was very large and, of course, Royal Navy had got dozens of powerful battleships and her training was very high, so US strategist thought that it would be impossible, or extremely costly, to attack British in Great Britain. Curiously, this plans showed that the best way to fight in the sea against a fleet with many powerful battleships was to rely on air attacks from aicraft carriers, instead of a long gunnery duel and that, if an islander enemy is too strong, it could be weakened by a long submarine warfare against cargo ships. It was according to these plans that US Navy in the 30-ies invested heavily in aircraft carroers and in GATo-class submarines
@egosumhomovespertilionem2 жыл бұрын
Your comment is partly right, partly wrong. The U.S. military did have a contingency war plan to fight Britain, as it did for every major power (mostly Europeans, in that era). War Plan Red for Britain focused mostly on seizing Canada and countering the Royal Navy. To my knowledge, it did not have a component for an amphibious invasion of the UK proper, which would have almost been technologically unimaginable in the decade after World War I. FYI, the huge American investment in submarines and aircraft carriers came mostly after 1940 when war in the Pacific and Europe were viewed as unavoidable eventualities by most American war planners. The Gato-class submarines were specifically designed to operate in the Pacific, not the Atlantic, with much larger fuel capacity, air conditioning, food refrigeration, and even laundry facilities, all made necessary by long-range operations in the tropics. Moreover, when World War II broke out, the Royal Navy actually had more operational aircraft carriers than the U.S. Navy, which did not start to mass produce large aircraft carriers until 1942. Bottom line: War Plan Red was not a particularly serious or in-depth war plan, unlike for example, War Plan Orange, whose outline strategy was ultimately followed in the defeat of the Japanese empire.

@PAGSF Goofy. By Trumpism you actually mean national populism i.e. America First. Trump's been basically said let's get out of all wars and let countries defend their own borders. If there's any one president who'd probably NOT attack the UK, it would have been Trump.
