Ive always found when removing the seal its easiest to pull the sleeve out first most of the time its easy as crap to pull out I did mine by hand and after you can fit a pick under the seal and you dont have to screw it and risk hurting the case

Everyone of them I have taken off has been lock tited I just did my bike yesterday and again they were locktited so I would recommend using locktite on those bolts

I only need to use 1 o ring? and what is the metal part of the kit that you have not used for?
@DanMX2112
@DanMX2112 2 жыл бұрын
Yes only one o-ring, but the kit supplies two. The metal ring is the retainer for the nut, used after you install the sprocket. Thanks for watching!

I believe those bolts are supposed to be loctight in cause mine has it to plus the vibration from the engine

I believe your right. I have never had them back out in any of my bikes, so I wasn’t to worried. I think the manual actually calls for it too. Thanks for watching and love the discussion!

I just went and torqued mine just because you asked about it, and they are still spec. That’s just a seal retainer anyways, it does nothing for sealing oil so your good either way! Good luck with your race!

Was the two o rings they provided the same size? Mine still leaks after I replaced the seal and o ring. I think it’s from the o ring though cause the seal looks perfect.
@DanMX2112
@DanMX2112 8 ай бұрын
I’m almost positive they are the same size, but if it’s leaking past the collar and the shaft than it’s the oring bad or pinched.
@thomaspham8852

@@DanMX2112 I tired both of the o rings and they both leaked after 2-3 rides. Unsure. I ordered an OEM o ring, I remember it being fatter then the all balls ones. I’ll keep posted. I used a a lot of grease. Can’t be pinched I don’t think.

@@thomaspham8852If it has a lot of hours on it you may want too micrometer the shaft. It may be out of spec to seal properly

So the All Balls ones didn’t work for me. I went ahead and installed a fatter diameter one that I found at autozone. It hasn’t leaked a drop after installing the new o ring. With the All Balls o ring, I noticed that the sprocket went on really easily. After putting the fatter o ring in, I had to use my hand to push the sprocket in far enough to install the washer, then I torqued everything down to spec, while still pushing on the sprocket. I’m guessing the all balls o rings were just to thin..

@@thomaspham8852 sounds like that’s a issue All Balls needs to address. I’ve had great luck with most all of their products, but orings have been an issue in some. Good info and I’m glad you sourced something that solves the issue. Thanks for the comments and for watching my friend!

I’ve since seen that in the service manual, but red seems excessive for a seal that fails fairly regularly. Kinda funny that Yamaha is the only one with that plate. Since that install I’m still going strong with tight bolts and no leak. Happy with it!!!

Glen Morris it’s easy to damage the seal with the sleeve in. But it would probably work, I’ve never had one leak after a install using this method.
@glenmorris1903
@glenmorris1903 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Dan. After removing the new seal it looks like I pushed the sealing lip off when pushing in the sleeve. The sleeve has a tapered outside edge which would explain the sleeve on first method. Your videos and mechanics are very good and I enjoy watching them.

Even without a perforated eardrum i am sensitive to it too, im no producer but i mix the music in at around 20-30% vol max and bring it down 10-15% if im trying to show anything else but filling an auditory void. Nice video better than what im seeing for countershaft seal replacement. Looks like in ready to do it! Thanks!!
