The best Scotch single malt whisky I had in 2022 is the Port Charlotte SC:01 2012. A killer dram !

Glad to hear it's good. Sauternes + peat rarely miss. I missed purchasing that bottle yesterday. I may have to continue my hunt. I usually enjoy the MC, MRC, OLC, ect. Series of Port Charlotte's.

My Top 5 would be: Edradour 12 CS, Thompson bros highland park 13, Auchroisk North star (the 2019 release), Glentauchers north star (2018 release) and Tobermory 16 edition spirits (2012 release). Honorable mentions: Edition spirit Mortlach 10, Malts of Scotland Craigellachie 11 Port, Williamson 7 Berry bros, Ledaig signatory cuvee 2.. so many good whiskies i tried this year, cant name them all

Thanks for checking out the channel DayKlight! It can be tough to cut down the list! So many good bottles out there. All are worthy choices from the sounds of it. Edradour 12 CS has been lovely when I've had it in the past. I'm a bit of a fan boy for North Star Spirits releases. I've got a few open and a few more on deck(including a 26 year old Tobermory, can't wait). I'll probably get into reviewing more IB's in the future but I'm not sure if there is broad appeal for the reviews. Sounds like you might be one of the people interested in IB reviews. @@whiskyonthewestcoast i mean i really enjoy IB, but i guess if you are at this stage in your whisky journey, maybe reviews of certain bottlings is difficult or shouldnt be made too often, since they are often single casks and very fast out of stock. But a general knowledge video about it is interesting, ralfy did one too. Id guess when you reach this stage, you kind of understand what you want and looking for and research your own bottlings, some bottles dont even have reviews and might never will but are amazing.

Totally get that. As it stands about half of what I have is IB, and they are almost always the only bottles I feel any amount of Fomo about...ok maybe SB and KK too haha 😄. I should consider some IB videos though.

@@whiskyonthewestcoast Maybe a General IB video on what to look out for (depending on personal preferences ofc), or how different IB are. Gordon McPhail feels more sanatized than for example Thompson bros or North star, which are more "raw", can be good or bad^^. Oh and let me know how that Tobermory was, my 16 from 2012 is the tobermory style (the little eukalyptus) cranked to max, its more like little sour vegetables with fruitiness from the bourbon cask and oily, like grilled pickled oily vegetables and fruits. weird but i like it :) Gladly enjoying your videos and your style, keep it up :)

Kilkerran has probably been my favourite malt discovery of the past year (heck probably two years). I very much wish Octomore and Port Charlotte weren't more impossible to find than the loch ness monster where I am because I love Bruichladdich and also heavily peated whisky so I'm sure I would get on well with them. Excellent selections.

Kilkerran just always delivers with a truly classic profile. Bruichladdich is solidly in my top 5 personal favourite distilleries. I just can't understand not having some version of Port Charlotte available. Really a shame for you guys 😔

Nice list. Can’t get everything from the list here in Québec very often, so I’m not familiar with some of them. I once had a bottle of Octomore 9.1, and dearly loved it. I’ve loved every Octo that I’ve tried since, but it’s been lifted out of my price range of late. I have that Kilkerran, i think. Haven’t seen it around of late. Oh: love your logo.

Dribs! Fun to get a comment from you! Hopefully the SAQ can shape up and bring a wider range of bottles in. I still have a bit of 9.1 left, and am sad to see it dwindling. Likewise I am very choosy in what Octomore I buy now because they are pricing me, and most people, out of the market. Hey and thanks for the compliment on the logo! My partner did a fantastic job of taking the concept to base it off of the local mountains and rivers and making it a reality. Without her, this channel would be shite! 🤣

Holy smokes literally for your #1! I don't have Octomore but I do have a couple of Port Charlotte's and I have tried some other Bruichladdich offerings. It is truly a great distillery. I have tried all of your top 5 including Victorianna. I agree with your take on Kilkerran 12 another beauty and sadly hard to get your hands on nowadays. Luckily I did pickup 2 when they were around and killed off one. Cheers!

YOU got a-l-l the classics . . . in 2018 Ontario saw a Single-Cask Ontario-Only ARRAN 20yo 58% for 200 $CA. . . Octomore has not returned to Ontario since 2017, so I blend the bottom 25% (when things go a bit flat) with Port CHarlotte-10 to make it last a tad longer . . .

Yea Kilkerran 12 is my scotch of the year. Luckily I have been pretty lucky finding bottles on trips to Alberta and got a decent stockpile of it, along with the Springbank 10 and Longrow.

New Arran 18 is superb, far superior than the 21. Arran 10 & 12 Mctaggart limited editions tho… those are glorious as well. Regular Arran 10 is ehh

Yeah I'd agree on the 18 being the better whisky. The Mctaggart 12 I nearly pulled the trigger on a bottle last year but delayed and missed it. Sounds like I missed out 😄.

That's something I didn't even consider about the SAQ! Sorry to hear. I'm glad you get a decent amount of Springbank/Kilkerran(though on lottery). We haven't had it(Springbank) imported to B.C. since 2015 as far as I know.

Ledaig 10 was actually my first review on the channel because I LOVE it so much.
