Country English Pleasure 55+ at Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show

The Country English Pleasure classes are really cool to watch. This one is class 224 for half Arabian - Anglo Arabian horses for riders 55 years and "better" at the 2023 Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
The Scottsdale show is the biggest Arabian horse show in the world and has the best of the best Arabian and half Arabian horses. This horse show runs for 11 days with several arenas showing classes all day long!
The Country English Pleasure class features riders in formal wear with hats similar to top hats and is very visually pleasing to watch. So come on along for the ride as we watch these magnificent horses and their riders!

I'd like to see an English equestrian comment on this "Country English Pleasure" class. I'm from Australia, and have been riding arabs and attending shows for 50+ years, and only ever see stuff like this from USA. We expect our Arabians and Arab derivatives to move like Arabians, and less like Hackney Ponies. It seems that we (and maybe the rest of the world too) also use what you folk call 'hunt seat', and not what you call 'saddle seat'. THIS looks way too much like Big Lick to qualify as visually pleasing to watch. Yes; the horses look beautiful. Yes; they are well-trained. But, why are they wearing (what are they? Weights on their hooves? 1:50 - 1:53) stuff on their hooves? Just so Big Lick???

Thank you for your comment! It's certainly your right to prefer more of a hunt seat style of riding, but like you noted, that's not how this class is. The Arabian shows in this country do you have hunt seat classes--many of them. But to be honest, they're not as popular as some others like the Country English Pleasure classes. You are not the first one to comment on some of my videos about preferring that type of class, and I do have hunt seat classes filmed from the Scottsdale show, so I think I'll publish one of those in the next couple of weeks. So keep an eye out for that! If you have not subscribed to my channel yet you could do that to be notified when that and my other videos come out. I usually do one a week on Saturdays.
