On your final thoughts, Joey Belladonna is a big fan of Journey. He models his singing from them. Musically, Charlie Benante (the drummer) writes all of their music. Each member makes their own alterations to what he came up with for the album. Charlie was heavily, HEAVILY influenced by punk rock. Your observation was spot on. Anthrax, compared to Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, embraced the punk rock influence more out of the Big 4 thrash bands. Good reaction. As for recommendations: Skeleton In The Closet Live in Chile Inside Out (album version, features Dimebag Darrel from Pantera on guitar) Safe Home (a love song Scott Ian wrote towards his then gf now wife Pearl, the adopted daughter of Meatloaf) Keep It In The Family Live (any version live works. Heavy as hell song about racism)

Huge band of the thrash scene. Have a listen to the studio version of something like Keep it in the Family. A slower more groove based track, with a far more serious lyrical subject too. Great stuff. Otherwise something more recent like In the End or Suzerain. You can't go wrong with these guys.

Out of the Big Four of thrash, Anthrax definitely has the most punk influence, specifically the NYC punk and hardcore scene.

Nice 👊🏽⚡️They have a song called, “Indians” that is worth checking out. There is a live performance playing in South America where the whole floor area becomes a giant circle pit. The sound isn’t pristine so if you want to here the song better justo with the official..

Guitar riffs are definitely thrash. They are one of the "big four" of thrash that started in the early 80's. Their style had a lot of punk and harrdcore influences though, compared to the others.
