I think instead of “don’t be scared”, you could instil in yourself “be courageous in spite of your fear”. There are always new things to try and fear can hold us back from doing the fun but scary things. Appreciate both of you sharing the different perspectives of the relationship. 😊

A healthy relationship is about good communication, openness, honesty, trust, accommodating, understanding, respect. Couples will have different opinions at times, and it takes time to understand each other preferences. Never use finance matters as the key factor in a relationship. Building a good and healthy relationship takes time.

Escape room story - siding Pat on this one, she shouldn’t be forced against her will to go to something she doesn’t want to. Don’t think it matters what her reason is as that’s personal to her, so I feel like it’s quite unfair to guilt trip your partner into going and being so dismissive of her reason for not wanting to go.

precisely.... what is "dont be scared" ... that's so dismissive.

Thanks guys. But I also see his POV on irrational fear luh. I was scared of sky diving. Would have given in to my fear if he didn’t persist. End up, I enjoyed it. 🫣 We will work on this! 💪🏼 - Pat

Love that you guys are so transparent, very authentic content that has been so easy to watch. Fellow catholic here, saw you shared briefly that "ivf is against the catholic church's teachings", will be great to hear more about this as a lot of young people now are christians but don't want to live it out? props to you guys!

Love this episode! You guys have been together for so long and Pat can still run to the door to welcome John back everyday wow! Also kudos that Pat apologises for most fights! I would think guys usually would make the first move? I feel for Pat because i think John is not an easy person to ‘win’ an argument against. 😅

He apologises a lot also luh. 😅 but yes you’re right, not easy to win this man. Hahahaha! - Pat

I really like the discussion about supporting each other during difficulties! I feel that men and women have different needs in those situations. Women often seek emotional support and a listening ear. They want their partner to be their emotional rock, someone who can validate their feelings and offer a safe space to express themselves. Men however crave encouragement and a sense of competence. They feel most supported when their partner cheers them on and acknowledges their strengths. I know these are generalizations, and every person is unique, but this is what I notice about the differing needs between men and women!

ya pat sis, got to control a bit. v common issue among girls cuz people tend to give more slack when raising girls, and end up spoiling a whole generation of girls/creating princess syndrome. but now old liao, can't blame upbringing - have to be fair to john and keep track of ur emotions - it's ur responsibility, not his - right means right, wrong means wrong, no such thing as we must take turns to be right and wrong. rmb resolving a fight is not about winning or losing and selfish gratification, it's SOLELY about looking forward and ensuring the sustainability of your relationship (i.e. what went wrong, what can we do better) because both of you are two halves of a whole and you want that whole to last forever. so don't lose sight of that. btw you don't have to do anything to cheer him up when he needs peace and quiet. just sitting around quietly and doing nothing, with ur presence around. is good. shoulder massage if he's okay, or just hang out doing ur own thing is also okay. from experience, it's v soothing one to just have someone around but not having to do anything with them. and john bro, overcoming fear is important for certain things cuz ur meant to push each other to grow stronger, but skydiving and escape room is not necessary lah. of course for the more impt things then shouldn't compromise. btw i agree dun go IVF and all those painful procedures. just try naturally, if it happens then it happens. let God bless u as He sees fit. or look into adoption - I'm sure you will be a blessing to the kid.
