Fun Fact: Burr's actor was praying for his own daughter when Lin was singing. So sweet:)

It makes this song all the more poignant when you know as the listener that both Philip and Theodosia died young due (indirectly) to their fathers' mistakes, Philip at 19 in a duel that wouldn't have happened if Alexander could have kept it in his pants and Theodosia at 29 lost at sea on a trip to see her father in New York she likely would not have made had Burr not been self-exiled for years before that in Europe due to charges against him of treason.

More accurately, if his father could've kept his mouth shut. No one really cared about the affair, but the scandal? The unnecessary pamphlet about the scandal? He had a chance to step away peacefully. Heck, he might've even been able to move past it if he didn't make such a fuss, no one was accusing him off this affair. No one.

@@leahdavis9434 Actually, that isn't the case. The so-called Reynolds Pamphlet by Hamilton was actually titled "Observations on Certain Documents", those documents being other pamphlets authored by a journalist named James Callender who had obtained copies of the correspondence between Hamilton and Maria Reynolds, apparently leaked by somebody on the Monroe Commission convened to investigate Hamilton for financial malfeasance and to which Hamilton had provided said correspondence. So Hamilton absolutely WAS being accused of the affair, although it could be argued that he could very possibly have denied everything and preserved most of his reputation. Stonewalling is often an effective tactic. That wasn't Hamilton's style, though.

Kinda sad that both Philip Hamilton and Theodosia Burr had tragic deaths in real life.

@@adelbraselton9729 Yeah she fought for her dad to be able to come back to America, which eventually he was able to, and settled in New York. She was very ill after child birth but wanted to see him so she set sail to New York on a boat called the "Patriot" along with other people boarding, and unfortunately the boat was never heard from again. Historians believe it was lost at sea or sunk which wasn't uncommon at the time, but very tragic. The boat was never recovered.

I love seeing Hamilton and Burr physically represented on stage as mirror images of each other in this song. It's such a sweet, vulnerable moment for them both where they're actually on the same page for once. Seeing that scene where Eliza reads the letter to Alexander really hit me hard the first time I saw it because it was the only storyline in the play that I didn't see coming. I'd been listening to the soundtrack non-stop for like 2 years straight and thought I knew everything that would happen while watching the play but I never knew that scene existed since it was deleted from the soundtrack. It was heartbreaking but Anthony Ramos sang so beautifully as always.

The Laurens Interlude always gives me chills (at a minimum, I won't deny that I have cried from it) and the inclusion of Lafayette and Hercules Mulligan reading their letters about it is powerful.

My dad died suddenly when I was 17.... Twenty yrs later, it still will occasionally hit me...hard...at random moments. And I'll just break down in tears. The first time I heard this song was one of those moments.

Theodosia's first husband actually died in battle, I think. Theodosia and Burr married very quickly afterwards I think. I love your reacts, always a highlight ❤

Knowing what happens to Phillip just makes this song so painful and emotional. And I think its something every parent has promised to themselves and their kids..." I'll do whatever it takes"..."ill make the world safe and sound for you." And sadly, that's never something you can 100% promise someone.

Was the use of "blow us all away" intentionally a really dark joke? I mean, Phillip and Theodosia were both blown away in their own ways. Phillip with a bullet from Eacker, and Theodosia lost at sea.
