In the Mexican American culture our songs tend to be alot about heartache and hurt, some of our most popular songs are about that subject, we are a very emotional people. Everything about Selena is all natural! Singing voice, body and being very appreciative of her fans! She was born in Lake Jackson Tx. We was born in the same hospital, but that's a little lie! Lol I was born in the older hospital before they moved to a newer one! But we are both Texans! Some of her live concerts she would allow people to come up and hug her and sometimes give her a kiss on the cheek! There is a video of her doing that but I do not know the name! I am from Corpus Christi and lived Two Blocks away from her home in neighborhood called MOTOWN in corpus christi texas (main street is molina) its a mixed neighborhood of black and hispanic working class families. their is a statue here of her and her her burial site is at local cemetery, sadly her father STILL lives making money off her name and fame.

I really have not much to say about Selena but what they say in the movie. At first, she wasn't very accepted in the Spanish speaking music world, it is a bit hard for a person who was born outside of Mexico to be accepted when singing mariachi as a professional singer, it kind of happened to Linda Ronstadt when she released "Canciones de mi Padre" but just like Selena she also gained respect eventually when people recognized their singing quality. Selena learned Spanish and she appeared in a "telenovela" doing small parts in some episodes and you can see she was shy because it was hard for her to speak some phrases in Spanish. Sadly after she had died then she became huge, but only then.

SELENA was huge in TexMex before she passed. Over 60 thousand concert goers attended her '95 concert. Yes she became more hugh after her passing but she was already pretty much established in the Spanish genre with countless TMA'S (Tejana Music Awards) including a Grammy for her 'Live' Album. It was mostly the music industry dominated by male performers which gave SELENA and her family a difficult time in accepting them. They didn't think a female could succeed in their Tejano music industry but of course they were proven wrong. Lol.

So if you see the Selena Series, that song was written by the guy who plays the keyboard "Ricky" who was in love with "Suzett" Selena's sister who was married at the time. Before Suzett got married the band which was Selena, her brother AB, her older sister Suzett, and keyboard "Ricky" and a few others rode in a big bus to travel to gigs and being that clustered in a bus for a long time lead to hidden romance and mixed feelings between a couple of them.

Just want to point out that JLO's 'Maid in Manhattan' gown does not resemble SELENA's 'No Me Queda Mas' gown except for its strapless low cut. The hair looks almost the same but that's it. JLO's gown flows outwardly while SELENA's goes straight downward hugging her body. 😊
