My goodness the number of comments about him talking over her or her talking over him are crazy. People, they are BOTH very excited about their lovely home and want to make sure everything gets said that they want to convey to viewers. A little kindnesses goes a very long way here. Now, the real game changer for me was the soaking tub!! It’s like a heavenly choir should be singing while a golden ray of light shine down on it (or the spot where it will be, lol!). I am still pondering the whole van life and had pretty much given up on baths which are my choice of cleaning, but now I know that it is possible which makes me so very happy. I have fibromyalgia so baths are sometimes the only thing that can relieve my muscle pain. Wishing you all the best of success on the road. I look forward to seeing all of your successes and adventures.

Love your bus! Just a couple of tips from the RV world. For your upper cabinets, go to the dollar store and pick up some dog collars. You can wrap the collars around the cabinet handles in lock them closed when in motion. I also can not stress enough to get a roof vent hood to go over your roof vents. It will still provide ventilation but it will give rain protection if the vent hatch cover fails. We learned this the hard way. Happy travels.

Despite what some of the other commenters have said, I really appreciated all of the info that both of them gave about their build including costs. I commented on your Chris and G travels channel about how I wanted 2 do the skoolie thing at 1 time. We actually ended up buying a 1995 Safari Serengeti class A diesel pusher, which we lived in while prep'g 2 sell our house, then we drove across country in it & continued 2 live in it for 6 mos until we were able to find a piece of property to purchase where our kids could have lots of open space 2 play in. We are now looking at fixing the Serengeti up more, 2 sell bcz we found that we're not organized enough 2 have 5+ people, a cat and a dog in such a small space. I still think it would be awesome 2 full-time RV when the kids r grown, more like "Life is a Joy" is doing. A lot of the info that this couple gave will be useful on our renovation of the old Serengeti. Thanks again for this helpful info.

One of the most interesting, and pleasant videos tours of a bus conversion I have seen. I grew up in a large family, and my Dad did a conversion to a "camper bus" for our family. The painting and a lot of the work were shared family efforts. Interestingly, our bus was also painted blue and white. I have to say, though, that your month of prepping is evident. I thought that was tons of privacy! When I was in the army the barracks had 7- 10 toilets along one wall with absolutely no partitions anywhere. And across this this room were all the sinks and mirrors along that wall. And through a large doorway was the gang shower. 10 or 12 shower heads in a room that was completely open on one of the walls. So in this rather large bathroom one wall was toilets, the opposite wall were sinks, and the far wall was the shower. It took a little getting used to doing your business in a room with 20 or 30 other guys, but you quickly got used to it, and it seemed pretty normal after a while! A few days, really. But in that bathroom there wasn't a scintilla of privacy or anywhere to hide! That was in San Antonio, at Fort Sam! I'm sure this will bring back some memories for a few people on here! The good old Days!!! And when I was in my first relationship we both used the bathroom at the same time. Which meant that somebody was using the toilet while someone else was brushing their teeth or taking a shower or drying off after the shower! If I remember correctly and I'm sure I do, we had sex once, while one person was sitting on the toilet, mid procedure! It seems odd now but then it was ..... well, we were young. Very young. 24? And after the Army bathroom, it didn't seem so peculiar! now I'm looking for a master bedroom with two separate bathrooms and two separate dressing rooms! And I live alone!!! It's a long story!!!

Awnings hinged at top, that fold flat for travel would help with keeping heat out a lot. Also in winter keeping some closed would retain heat. I'm sure that with some thought, you could come up with something that would look awesome when down for travel. One long awning down each side would be easiest, just less options for light or keeping warm. Kind of like park east west and close north side in winter. Plus secures your bus even more!

I really appreciate the specifics you offered, especially about the stove, but for other stuff too. It's really a beautiful home. Great call on the sink too, btw; big is good. It's great to hear a young couple with an appreciative attitude toward water and it's so true that we take it for granted with its seeming ubiquity. For anyone in the decision making phase of choosing insulation, I would caution against spray foam. There are serious health concerns with it, even though installers insist the air quality problems come from improper installation, there really isn't a lot of long term data yet to confirm that. Also, those are residential environments, not a vehicle with greater temperature extremes, vibration, etc. The traditional roll insulation has mold issues and possible particulate problems too. I think the 2" rigid insulation with the air gap sounds top quality, safer, and probably a better sound barrier than spray foam. Best of luck to you both.

In our apartment building we have been placing just about everything in the recycling bins and all food scraps go in the compost. It's been that way for the past two years. Good for the Earth!!

You can do cookies and pizza on your fire stove or a bbq. I've done both with foil successfully. Just a thought.

Great interview. I felt like I was there with you. Credit to the camera man. Love the open design. White is key and you have a great mix of that with everything else. I also have a Berkeley! Same size I think. Mine is slowing on production. I’ll have to try the food coloring test.

Purchase a toaster oven they are compact they are like an oven you can cook cookies in them you can cook roast of any meat in them they don't take up much space they don't give off very much heat even though there is heat given off which would help Heat the year of your bus especially winter so baking in a toaster oven is legit

I did. I got a convection oven combo toaster. And I have a Vitamix and I hope that I will be able to use that and my KitchenAid mixer to make bread in my new countertop convection oven. My Vitamix makes homemade peanut butter from peanuts and a tablespoon of olive oil, and applesauce from apples and smoothies from spinach carrots celery and fruit with coconut milk xcetera and my KitchenAid makes mashed potatoes as well as kneading the bread, when I'm in the mood ,and has a spiralizer attachment that makes zucchini noodles to go in my salads. And of course I always make fermented cabbage and I just use my mandolin to shred a head of cabbage put in a bowl with some sea salt and mix it up really good by hand squeezing to make sure it has water and with sea salt, a teaspoon, and let it sit till ready to pack tight in the jars and put non aluminum lids on and again pack the Cabbage tight into jars and sit them on the counter and taste test every day and within 5 days, sauerkraut! Oh, very important! Sit something heavy on the top of the Cabbage in the jar to make sure the cabbage water stays over the top, and when done refrigerate forever I digress. But it's the best probiotic known to man. As a vegan I would just need a place to keep fresh produce mainly. Just talking out loud. Forgive please...

Barbara Mowrey Thanks for the information, your excitement rubs off on me! Do you have a channel, I hope, to show us how you make Saurkraut? My son has makes it, but maybe there is more to learn, as sometimes it has not turned out. He also makes Kumbucha.

@@ElectedOfficial1 Get an Instant Pot! I use it to make make yogurt, potatoes, rice, eggs, pasta, cheesecake.. you can sear in it too. I love it! Got an air fryer as well, you almost don't need a stove :)

Your bus is amazing!!! I am floored by how the guy kept saying "easy" for all the fantastic, smart, great looking, well crafted things he did!! The bus has SO much in a small space that it feels big!! At the end all I could see though is her BAD sunburn and the bald tires. That made me worry about you guys taking PRECAUTIONS against skin and highway hazards. Take care...you guys make a great couple. I wish you all the best in the world.
