Hi. Nice reaction. Thank you for your service 🙏 So cool that you came across Courtney's music. She is amazing. You would have no way of knowing after just one song, but she is truly a generational level talent. Unbelievable vocal power, control and range. You just heard what a killer rock voice she has and when she is on stage, she dominates a stage like no other. However, her vocal versatility is astounding. Courtney is equally as great across so many genres besides Rock. R&B, Funk, Soul, Ballads and more. The most incredible thing is, whatever the genre, there is never a drop off to the incredible quality of her music. Virtually all artists, even the biggest, have their comfort zone. Inside that zone, they are great, but take them outside that zone, and not so much. We've yet to see where Courtney's comfort zone ends, because she can sing virtually anything exquisitely. To hear one of her ballads is to truly appreciate what a gorgeous voice she has, A little Courtney background for you and your subscribers: Courtney first rose to worldwide fame when she appeared on America's Got Talent (AGT) in 2018 when she was 13. Her audition went viral and now has over 1 billion overall on line views. Courtney herself is closing in on 3 billion views. She has die-hard fans from virtually every country in the world. While on AGT, Courtney sang exclusively classic rock from the 60's and 70's by the likes of James Brown, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin. Courtney was so great on AGT that she was almost immediately signed to a record deal at Syco/Arista records (Sony Music). After AGT, those that knew her from only there, viewed her as this fabulous stage dominating rocker, which she surely is. but, she is so, so much more. As I mentioned above, her range is astounding. So in 2019, she released an EP called the 'Cover Sessions' where she took some of the biggest recent hits across different genres, and re-invented them into her vision of the way they could have been sung. They were all sensational. The purpose was to highlight both her incredible vocal versatility and her off the charts creativity. All four of the 'Cover Session' songs (Old Town Road, Sign of the Times, Someone You Loved, Sucker) are available on her KZbin channel and would make great reactions. BTW, as others have said, the song she is singing here is Otis Redding's 'Hard to Handle'. Howie made the Janis Joplin comparison due to Courtney's style, and she does sing a Joplin song later in AGT. Courtney went through hell to start getting her original music out. First, her label, for years trying to turn her into something she didn’t want to be. Another pop princess. Can you imagine that magnificent voice you just heard being limited to just pop, but there’s more. Of course, there was Covid, which delayed her album release for more than two years. Then her label was sold, creating even more chaos. At the beginning of 2023, as soon as she could, she walked away from her label and went independent. Courtney has a huge song library that she hasn't been able to release because of the reasons described above, but she has shared many of them, in whole or in part with fans, and they are all sensational. She is such a powerhouse as a songwriter. Since she has gone independent in 2023, she has already released five mind blowing originals accross multiple genres. They are 'Breakable', a gorgeous gritty ballad, 'That Girl Don't Live Here', an uptempo fabulous jazzy number with a touch of almost 1940's swing, 'Call Me Back', which will rip your heart out every time you hear it, 'Monsters', a truly magnificent rock anthem and 'Christmas Rocks', a rocky Christmas song that simply demands you move with it. All are available on her KZbin channel. Now that she's independent, she has said to expect a release every month or two. So buckle up. Next up is the release of her long delayed debut album. It's going to be an incredible ride. I can't wait to hear you react to more of Courtney's music. So the big current news in Courtney world. Courtne will be performing at Carnegie Hall on April 29th. It's a 92nd birthday gala for Clive Davis. Given what Clive Davis has accomplished in music and all of the big names he has discovered and signed, everybody who's anyone in music will be there. The performer list is a who's who of music. So a very big deal. Courtney will be performing a Janis Joplin song and will be opening the concert. I'd give you the link, but YT will block anything that is a non YT link, so check Courtney's Social Media accounts for details.

Thank you for this. I absolutely love it when fans of an artist fill me in on so much rich detail about them. A little about my channel. I have an online request form and an online request list. My viewers submit requests for reactions, and I do them, generally in the order they are listed, although I will jump around occasionally. Right now, I have no requests for Courtney. I also have 570 requests currently, so any requests made today wouldn't show up as reactions until September. (I do four requests a day.) Given all of that, if you'd like me to react to more Courtney, please feel free to add your requests. She has done four performances on AGT, four live covers of contemporary works, and had released five original songs- four of which are videos. I hope you can do a few of them I have been praying for Courtney because she is so unique and emulates some who have died early. I pray she comes to know He who is the truth.

She has brought back my early years, I went to high school with Johnny and Edgar Winter and we were about 20 miles from Janis Joplin. I went on into Aerospace while they all stayed in music. I played Bass with them. Thank you for showing this to us…

On April 29, 2024, she was asked by Clive Davis to open at his gala at Carnegie Hall with performers like John Mellencamp, Dionne Warwick, Barry Manilow, Green Day, etc. This has placed her in the limelight. She should have an album out soon. I and her myriad of fans are ecstatic.

Funny you should mention Piece of My Heart, in fact she'll be opening the show in New York Monday night with that song. It's a tribute to Clive Davis, celebrating the New York Pops 41st birthday in Carnegie Hall. As others have already commented, it's Hard to Handle by Otis Redding but the backing track is more like the Black Crows cover version. There is a version on KZbin where she sings it to more of an Otis Redding arrangement but audio only, at the end of a video of her covering Black Velvet by Alannah Myles. Shockingly she didn't win AGT. She made the top 10 to reach the finals but somehow didn't get enough votes to make the top 5. Simon told her later, "When you were on the show last time and you didn't win, my mouth literally dropped." So glad you said you'll check out her channel. Liked and subscribed!

I discovered Angelina and Courtney around the same time. I have followed both these young ladies since then. They are very different, obviously, but both exhibit extraordinary talent, as well as admirable character traits. Courtney has gone out of her way to message me and respond to her fans. In the way she is able to. She is determined to do the music she wants to- And her patience is paying off as recognition is increasing everywhere! Thank you for having this on your channel❤

Thanks for your service. Here in New Zealand recently we had ANZAC day, our memorial day for those in service. This performance about five years ago made me a true fan of hers. Roughly a year before that she was on the The Voice Kids UK, and I watched that too. But, because it was only a singing competition, she didn't have a chance to stand out as much as she did on the variety talent show AGT is. I'm not going to give any spoilers about what happened on these shows, only to say that she did rather well on both of them. After AGT, she was signed with Simon Cowell's label SYCO Entertainment. She released an EP of four covers, a Christmas cover of John Lennon's Merry Xmas The War Is Over. ... then nothing. She was constantly coming up with new music, Kevin Bowe, some of them ready for release, and promoted, but nothing happened. She was booked for certain gigs too, but none of these happened for her. There was meant to be a 50th Anniversary of Woodstock, but that was cancelled, partially to do with the chaotic 90s version, part to do with COVID. And that pandemic had a lot to do with the limited performances too. But what was the real issue behind nothing being released was that Simon sold the company, and the new owners were trying to conform her into another generic pop princess, and stifle her Rock tendencies, so they held back on her songs. Early last year she broke away from her contract and became independent. Her first song, Breakable, was highly symbolic about the issues she had with the label, but so universally written that it could be about anything. The next song, That Girl Don't Live Here, was about her growing up from the little girl who was on AGT. Call Me Back, is a Rock ballad (and I do suggest having a box of tissues with that one if you do a reaction to that one). Monsters, the next release, just a few weeks before Halloween, was my most anticipated release. Two or three years ago, this was one of the early demos released. Back than, it was called 'Keep The Monsters Away'. The first verse and chorus were released as a taster for the song. But due to label interference for previously stated reasons, nothing happened. Then, just before Christmas, an audio only song was released called 'Christmas Rocks'. She is to be the opener act for the Birthday celebration at Carnegie Hall for Clive Davis, and she is currently working on an album to be released. She's got the funds for it, due to crowd-funding, hopefully it will be released shortly. There are other original songs to be put onto the album too, like a song called 'Good Old Days'. And all through the COVID lockdowns, she was promoting a lot of both original material and covers, she did a seriously good cover of Tina Turner's What's Love Got To Do With It, a lot of Q&A, fan interactions, sometimes fun, sometimes silly (you should see her song 'YO, My name is Joe!', so silly). It shows that she is not so much celebrity, that she can't let loose, and have some fun with fans. But, that's about all the history I know of her, I'm sure that there is a lot I have missed, but I'm sure others will fill you in.

I did forget to mention that Courtney has been singing at a semi-professional level since she was nine years old, and there are quite a few videos on KZbin, Instagram and Facebook which shows plenty of examples of her talent before AGT.

Great reaction! The song, Hard To Handle, is by Otis Redding in the 60s, but wasn't really popularized till the 90's by the Black Crowes. Howie was more comparing the style of singing between Courtney and Janis. Courtney does sing many JJ songs and you can find them online . If you were getting 20-30 thousand views per each video there would be no reason to ask this question. I see you react to young female singers (don't see any young guys here and I am surprised to see you don't do Diana Ankudinova) so why do you choose not to react to Grace VanderWaal?

I am getting 1000s of views for some videos. Many of my Dimash reactions have 1000s of views. So do ones for Angelina, Ren, Lucy Thomas, Amira Willighagen, etc. I've done three reactions to Diana Ankudinova, and all three have gotten thousands of views. I choose very few of my reactions. The vast majority of my reactions are in response to requests from my viewers. So, with rare exceptions, I am not selecting the songs or artists. My vierers are. @@paulschmehl2124 yeah you're right I wasn't more specific so I'll alter that. How's that? Since you don't have a Diana in your playlists I assumed you didn't do her. If you have 20k to a million followers you'd have so many requests that you would be too busy to pop in one just because you like the performer or want to take a look at one you heard about. 9k followers gives you the opportunity to look at anyone you want. So my question was since you know so many young performers I'll assume you know of the existence of Grace and I'm interested why she didn't interest you..
