Hi. Nice Reaction. So great seeing you coming back for more of Courtney's music. However, everything you've reacted to so far is from when Courtney was 13/14 years old. I realize that you are only doing what was requested, but Courtney is now a 20 year old young lady, and she has evolved tremendously since the time period you are looking at. She was magnificent then, but as to be expected, as she has matured, her vocal power, control and versatility has become exponentially more incredible. She truly is a generational level talent. Also, everything you've reacted to are all within a single genre. Again, I know these are the requests you are receiving, but since her time on AGT, Courtney has shown that not only is she a fabulous, stage dominating rocker, but also equally as exquisite across so many genres, including R&B, Funk, Soul, Ballads and more. To hear one of Courtney's ballads is to appreciate what a truly gorgeous voice she has. As to the Janis Joplin comparisons, IMO, you had it right the first time, when you said Janis sounds a bit like Courtney. The reason being, Janis spent her whole career in a single style of music, whether by choice, or by range limitations. So when Courtney chooses to sing in that one style that Janis did, there are some minor similarities, but unlike Janis, Courtney has shown a range that is simply breathtaking, doing so many things that Janis either could not, or would not do. You're never going to find Janis singing a beautiful ballad, or 1940's Swing as Courtney has done magnificently. Heck she even had an opera clip go viral. BTW, you mentioned Howie Mandel compared Courtney to Janis after Courtney sang a Janis song. It's true that Howie made the comparison, but the song Courtney sang for her AGT audition was not a Janis song. She sang 'Hard to Handle', originally by Otis Redding, later released by the Black Crowes. Howie.s comparison had nothing to do with the song Courtney was singing. He was telling the story of a similar artist (Janis) who was a complete unknown, until she was discovered and signed by Clive Davis. His comparison was to the fact that Courtney was up to then a relatively unknown singer who was being discovered, and her life was about to change, just as Janis' did. You also talked about Courtney's shyness when not singing. Over the years as she has matured, she has also become more open and comfortable in public settings, but she is still the same soft spoken, absolutely genuine and authentic person as she was then when she's not singing. All of the fame and recognition she has received has not changed her a bit. Truly a class act in every possible way.

We are from the same era -- I was born in 49. And Courtney Hadwin sings like the raw songs sung by the females of my youth, ie., Janice Joplin.

I do hope you continue to find out more about who Courtney is and how she has progressed, because she keeps getting better and better. She had a rough go of it with all kinds of bad luck, timing wise, due to canceled venues like Woodstock's 50th then COVID and another huge venue in Europe. Fortunately prior to COVID she recorded 4 covers in her own style that went over extremely well. All of them on her YT channel along with all her own hit songs with video to most of them. Over the past 2 years she's gone independent after her label got taken over soon after COVID and the label tried to change her which she wanted no part of, and has written and recorded loads of songs. She will be releasing her 1st full album or originals she and her producer/co-songwriter Kevin Bowe (who worked with many of the greats from the past) in a few months. From that album she's releasing her favorite she said in February called "Spellbound". Btw, Courtney mentioned that "Pretty little thing" wasn't released to the public because she/they felt it was to Pop. Max Martin actually wrote the song for her. Judging by how Courtney sings and performs it, I wonder if Max Martin expected his pop song to sound so Rock like. 😃

I agree with Simon: this is my favorite performance, even though I’ll always have a fond memory of her "Nutbush City Limits" when she was twelve years old.

You are right that Courtney's bound for the spotlight and is "something else". Other commenters have given you more information on Courtney: now a determined 20 year old independent singer songwriter about to become more famous when her original album is released this Spring, and she starts live concerts! AGT performances, like this one at 14, are great, but I would think you would want to hear and see her as a beautiful budding superstar on some of her recent videos on her KZbin channel.

Thank you for another great reaction! Whenever I watch this I can't help noticing exactly what you said, Courtney's outfit looks like it's too big until she starts singing (even though Calvin Klein fit it for her specially for the occasion). She seems to literally grow into it before our eyes. My favorite is still the one you reacted to yesterday, Tina Turner's River Deep Mountain High in the finals of her first time around. Thank you again and God Bless You Always.

Original done in cooperation with the famous Max Martin. The song was to be released but Max Martin has not approved and it likely will remain in La La Land. Courtney has not given a reason.

Among people who described Courtney, at this age, as "painfully shy" is her own grandfather. But many people, including Courtney herself, have said she becomes a different person when she's onstage and the music starts. She feels music deep inside her, and it stirs feelings she has to let out. This video is from 6 years ago. As some others have said here, you should see what she's doing now. She's 20 now. She's writing her own songs in partnership with her producer Kevin Bowe. In 2023-2024 she released 6 original songs -- the music video for one of them, "That Girl Don't Live Here," has been viewed nearly 2 million times on KZbin -- she's got a new album coming out in a few months, and she's about to go on tour with her own band. We, her fans, think her career is about to take off.
