Hi Nick. Great reaction. Several things make Courtney so different than every other artist. First, you would never know it from hearing only this performance, but Courtney is primarily a stage dominating, fabulous rocker, that just happens to have the vocal range and dexterity to be equally good across so many genres including R&B, Funk, Soul and Ballads. Her transitions between genres are always flawless and exquisite, and there is never any drop off in the incredible quality of her music. Nearly all artists, even the biggest names, are great in their comfort zones, but move them away from that comfort area, and not so good. We've yet to find where Courtney's comfort zone ends, because she can sing virtually anything and do it better than anyone else. She even had an opera clip go viral on TikTok. Secondly, her creativity is simply off the charts. Courtney will never sing a cover unless she has her own take on how the song could or should have been sung. She never mimics anyone. For example, she did a cover of Lil Nas' 'Old Town Road' and completely dismembered the original Country, Hip Hop version and put it back together as this amazing Rock anthem. I've put the link below as a possible future reaction. Courtney first rose to fame when she was a finalist on the 2018 season of America's Got Talent (AGT). During her stint on AGT, she sang exclusively classic rock by the likes of Tina Turner, James Brown and Janis Joplin. Her audition performance went viral and now has over 500M views across all platforms. Overall Courtney has over two billion online views and is loved by millions from virtually every part of the world. I've put the link to her AGT audition below as well because it is an absolute must see. The reason that Courtney isn't already a megastar is that her debut album of original music has been repeatedly delayed by the over two years of travel bans and lock downs related to Covid, but when it drops it will be epic. There is so much built up anticipation for it. Over the last two years, Courtney has shared all or parts of a number of originals with her fans and all have been sensational. Turns out, no surprise, that she is also a real powerhouse as a song writer. For those of us that follow her, Courtney is truly a generational level talent. Can't wait to hear you react to more of her music, so you can see everything that Courtney is able to bring to the table musically with her incredible talent. Welcome to the wonderful world of Courtney Hadwin. This is just one facet of Courtney’s singing. She can literally do anything! This was a great reaction and I have subbed to your channel. So sorry to hear about your father. The loss of a parent is a devastating thing. It must be more so if it was sudden. My thoughts are with you. I know you said you weren’t taking any new requests right now but when you are I would suggest “Sucker”. Courtney turned the Jonas Brothers pop song into hoppin’ rock and soul. I will put in an official request when you’re taking more.

1st I wanted to just say I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad at 40 and it was very hard to move forward for a time. But time does lessen the grief. Not so much heal. Music does have a way of helping the process. Not sure if this was mention here yet, but Courtney was only 14 when she recorded this and 3 other covers she did after getting signed from her stint on AGT. This one was to me the closet to the original she covered any song in that studio. Two of the others that she did, she completely changed them into rockers from the days of past. Most people who know about Courtney but who don't really follow her know her from her audition on AGT. That performance made Courtney Hadwin known around the world to anyone who watches AGT or who goes on KZbin to look for music videos of other singers. She went viral overnight after that audition and followed up with 4 other performances on that show that were show stoppers, especially if you were familiar with rock the way it used to be performed. I read a comment here who mentioned her dancing on stage turned them off. But anyone who appreciated artists like Mick Jagger, Joe Cocker, James Brown, Tina Turner, etc from a time where anything goes, knows the excitement a good stage performer brings to the table at a concert. Courtney hadwin is damn near the best stage performer of today's generation. There's still a few good ones, but I haven't seen one that makes my insides jump out of my skin to join in with the way she performs on stage. She was doing this at 11 or 12 years old just after she found a few videos on KZbin by artist such as James Brown, Jagger, Little Richard and more. From that point on she mentions she new what she was missing and proceded to learn from those great performers. If you do more reactions to Courtney, I agree with reacting to "Old Town Road". kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5_apZpqeJWDisU or her AGT audition kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYGrh3-uop2IY5I as next in line. Either way you'll want to see all she can do. She is a rocker for sure, but that ain't all. If you follow up on her, you'll be shocked by her persona, stage skills and singing abilities in any genre she chooses.

Hey! I just want to add to this, because I always love Bert's comments, genuine. This was a softer side of Courtney due to in my opinion many people were saying she can only run around and do Rock type genre music. She did this and blew those people in the wind. :) Goosebumps every time I hear her sing. No other musician female or other in my life time ever gave me goosebumps just listening her sing. She's a power house and her history is huge with singing in England. I'm glad that in her youth in this Century that the "Old Soul" music influenced her in very many good ways. You want to hear her sing soul? at 8 she does Etta James All I could do is Cry. OMG. Never in my life even being once in Music heard such a young person give out emotion while singing and a presence that gives you goosebumps.. I suppose it's horrible for others to compare her to other musicians, but what i learned is that people find it easier to relate and describe the person, or they're jealous, yes jealous that the new person might take away from the musician or artist they love. My two favs from her is "Papa's Got a brand new Bag and All I could do is Cry". Etta James and James Brown go way back and this is a youth who can connect and love the music. That's rare in today's youth. Anything w/Courtney Hadwin, from singing, stage, dancing, and clothing style will not disappoint. Courtney is rare and most likely a prodigy and people will not like her which would take for ever to explain, but I hope nothing but the best for this young artists. Truly a rare artist.

It's always great to hear somebody react to her when they heard the original first. Some have reacted to her without listening to the original, and that's a huge mistake with the likes of Courtney. She hit you hard because you knew the original. I think her version of Old Town Road is easily the best cover I've heard, and it's better than the original...by far.

@@ros8737 Tbf, Will I Am of Black Eyed Peas 1st recognized her as a judge on The Voice Kids UK, being similar to Janis Joplin the year prior to AGT when Courtney was performing an audition of Tina Turners "Nutbush City Limits" and Will I Am was so curious as to why she was tired after she performed because he didn't turn his chair to see Courtney in action. Sorry for your loss, things will ease, day by day. This, my friend, is Courtney Hadwin. I'm surprised that you do not know of her already. She was literally a global sensation in 2018, when she appeared on AGT. I live in New Zealand, and have become a huuuuuge fan of hers because of that show. This is a mild performance for her, you should seriously check out her AGT performances, especially her audition. Also, another one to watch would be her cover of Old Town Road. Many people, myself included, consider it far superior to the original Billy Ray Cyrus version.

Should be mentioned that Courtney chose to record these 4 covers (well you only know about 1 so far) for a different reasons. As has been said, Courtney is a rocker and did all intense rock performances when she was on AGT just before doing these. So there was a bunch of comments going around social media while she was on AGT that she was more or less a one trick pony. She made a statement by recording the 4 Cover Sessions mini EP afterwards. This was the 1st one she release that summer. It caught me off guard that's for sure. I was expect more rock from Courtney and I will admit I the 1st time I heard this I was disappointed. But once she got to the raspy distortion at the end I quickly changed my mind. But then the next song she release ("Sucker" and then the last one "Old Town Road" - which btw I wasn't a fan of the original) she was all about rocking it again. I only wished they gave her more room to move. Later, she mentioned each song she chose she had a reason for. I always believed one of those reasons was to show the critics she could sing like today's cookie cutter singers if she chose to. She just didn't want to. Very curious to see what she releases when her original album comes out. She's always moving forward with being creative and different.
