The way she emoted through the song, picking the right times to put feeling into it, the pitch, the other things that I cannot describe. She is a phenomenon. And, how she can hold that long note, with that power... Why isn't she top of the charts already!?

Hi Saeed, I remember the first time I heard Courtney’s version of this song. It was totally mesmerizing. I couldn’t get over her falsetto. To think that the same girl with that strong rockin’ voice can also sing so sweetly with so much emotion. And to think she was only 14 at the time. I played it over and over. All this time later it doesn’t fail to amaze me. I love your reactions Saeed. You totally “get” Courtney. You have become my favorite reactor by far. Can’t wait to hear more Courtney reactions.

Hi Saeed. What a magnificent voice Courtney has. She can literally sing anything, and be spectacular at it. Courtney's one of the only artists I've seen and heard that can put three or four different songs into one. How many style changes were there here, and her transitions were flawless and exquisite in ever case. Even more amazing is that she was only 14 when she recorded this performance. When Courtney exploded on AGT with her audition, which now has over a billion on line views, and throughout the remainder of her time on the show, Courtney sang exclusively classic rock from the 60's and 70's by the likes of James Brown, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin. Everyone who knew her from there, thought of her as this fabulous, stage dominating rocker, which she most certainly is. However, she is so much more. So in 2019, she released a four song EP, where she took massive recent hit songs, across multiple genres, and re-invented them into her own. Each was sensational. Suffice it to say that none of those songs sound anything like the originals. The purpose was to highlight her astounding vocal versatility and her off the charts creativity. The four songs from the EP are Old Town Road, Someone You Loved, Sucker and SIgn of the Times (this performance). As huge as these songs were, I've never come across anyone who has heard both Courtney's versions and the originals, who doesn't think Courtney blew the originals out of the water in each case. All of the remaining three songs from the EP are available on Courtney's KZbin channel and would make terrific future reactions. She will simply blow you away with what she has done with these songs. Can't wait to hear you react to them.

Thank you for reacting to this, it's not just Courtney Hadwin's best vocal ever, it's as good as anybody's performance of any song, anywhere, anytime, whether it's Whitney Houston's version of I Will Always Love You or any other iconic recording. Of the 4 "live cover" sessions, the most popular is Sucker, a cover of a Jonas Brothers song, and she does awesome things with that one too. I think Sign of the Times is a great song that Courtney makes greater. Sucker she makes great. SHAMELESS PLUG DEPARTMENT: Courtney now has merch on her website, T shirts and hoodies.

Thanks for the reaction, Saeed! What's amazing, is that she was only 14 when she recorded this cover in 2019. She also recorded 3 other covers at that time, using the same studio musicians, and I think you'd enjoy them all, if you haven't reacted to them already. She called that EP of 4 songs her "Cover Sessions" album. Here are all 4-tunes: www.youtube.com/@CourtneyHadwinVEVO

It's my understanding that this cover was the first of these four 'Cover Sessions' her label released before they separated ways. This was the: sit down, stay, sing it as normally as possible without elaborations, then bring in increasing special vocal skills as song progresses. I believe her unique cover of 'Old Town Road' was the final of these four, and that mike drop at end of that song was her exclamation point on this exercise demonstrating that hell yeah, that girl can SING! I could, of course, be wrong. Love her vocal versatility, and her singing voice, before any special vocal techniques, is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. She needs to trust her normal voice more, IMHO. I absolutely LOVE her extensive repetoire of vocal techniques, especially that old-style black gospel vocal squall she's perfected from Tina Turner, Etta James, James Brown, and more. But it's a POWERFUL spice, that can be overpowering when it's always there and always full ON. She's demonstrated excellent use of so many advanced techniques, and of knowing when and where to use them. Love this young vocalist! And she's turning into a great songwriter, IMHO.

This one surprised me. I vaguely recall her appearing on AGT. It's wonderful to see how she's grown into such a pure vocalist. I thought she was just a power rocker. This was fantastic. In fact, I think I'll listen again...lol. Gotta shout out to Harry Styles also for such a great slice of life.

Its a great song and an amazing rendition!
@kimjensen76074 ай бұрын
No she's not just a rocker. Everyone believes/believed that then. She released these four covers after AGT when she was signed by Simon. To show that she wasn't just a rock singer. Now she is an independent artist and writes songs herself and together with Kevin Bowe. And her album is coming at the end of the year. But will release a couple of singles before. There will be everything from Rock, Blues, Power ballads and soul, etc. on it.

Saeed: As long as you're checking out Courtney's "Cover Sessions" ("Sign of the Times" is one of those), you should take a look at her version of "Old Town Road," if you haven't already. No one one but Courtney should ever sing that song again. She owns it now.

Yes, I totally agree. I've heard the Harry Styles version before on the radio, but as soon as it is finished, it's blanked from my memory. Not so with Courtney. You can literally feel the emotion with the song, and totally memorable.

Courtney is the only young female singer who can compete and survive The Voice Battle, it shows how brutal the REAL ADULT singers world is. Watch this video on KZbin 'The Voice 2018 Battle - D.R.
