As a North Carolinian, I can confirm Lexington--style bbq is fantastic.

I haven't eaten scrapple, but I am not a hunter. In our neck of the woods, it was tradition for the local diners and churches to make scrapple breakfasts for the first morning of hunting season. It was part of a combo with bacon and eggs, with butter or syrup. His presentation had it isolated.

I live in New Jersey and you don’t put just one slice of pork roll (NOT Taylor ham) on a breakfast sandwich. And you melt the cheese. Also, you don’t use Kraft singles, you use real cheddar or American cheese. These guys have the palate sophistication of a second grader.

Skyline chilli in a can is like using dog food in place of real fresh skyline chilli. From WV and we use to have a skyline when I was young. It clearly looks like they are using the cheepest ingredients across the board. The most WV item is a WV hotdog with chilli and slaw. The pepperoni roll is popular as it is good for the lunchbox and keeps for a couple days at least. On coal mines foods that keep and have both bread and meat is popular. Spam is spiced ham, processed it keeps well in cans for years.

Surprised by some of the rankings, but on some of these that I've eaten... Arkansas - Say what you want about how it looks, but biscuits & chocolate gravy are insanely good. Texture is unique, but closest to a warm chocolate chip cookie...just with a buttery kick. Deserving of S tier. I'd have switched TX brisket and OK onion burgers, but that's just me. They're both good; I just love brisket. Alabama - If you love mayo, Courtney, you'll love white BBQ sauce. Does a good job with chicken. It's A tier for sure. Iowa - The National Pork Board is in Des Moines, so Iowa got its own chop, which is ¼ inch thicker than a center cut pork chop. Should be A/B tier, but the tenderloin, which Indiana got, is solid A tier. Delaware's just screams sadness.

I've literally never met anyone who didn't like funeral potatoes, so I'm kind of wondering if they made it correctly. And for clarification, I'm on the opposite side of the country. It's not a dish that's common here, but everyone I've ever known raves about how good it is.

I miss brisket out here in CA where it's harder to find. It was actually better in MO than in TX where I lived before. It's not that great in CA. The same goes for steak on all points. Mo has the best BBQ, steak & brisket (corn-fed beef over wheat is why). Their chili is also great, but I don't have a fair comparison for that vs other places. Love biscuits & country gravy.

The lobster roll is so tourist, I just love a great 1 1/4 pound boiled lobster with some butter. Yes I live in Maine. I also once lived in Rhode Island, they don't know how to cook seafood despite their claims. Courtney great seeing you live your best life, cannot wait for the next video!

I thought they were going to go with the Wisconsin crème puff. But fried cheese curds is a top favorite. Bratwurst would have been good too if properly prepared. Dusseldorf mustard, sauerkraut on top. Seen people treat bratwurst like a hotdog which is scarier than horror movies to me.

I have simple tastes, NC pork BBQ, Texas brisket, and Cincinnati chili over spaghetti, all good. At least A tier. I can get them all in Charlotte North Carolina. PS I thought Maine lobster rolls were cold with mayonnaise, Connecticut was hot with melted butter. I prefer the latter.

As a lifelong Iowan, I gotta say I am glad they didn't go with the loose meat sandwich that so many other channels go with... While I do enjoy the loose meat sandwich, the Iowa chop does represent us better, as Iowa is the number one producer of pork in the US, and is home to the "World Pork Expo" in the capital city of Des Moines... I also prefer the tenderloin over the loose meat as well... As I said earlier, I have nothing against the loose meat (AKA, the Made Rite) sandwich, It just feels like someone got lazy when they say it is top food in the state in their videos... Great that they let the people rank the food for their states... I have no arguments with the ratings though... I welcome any honest opinion as long it was given a fair chance... TBH, I actually hear more Iowans raving Casey's Pizza then I hear about any of the three foods in this video... Especially the breakfast pizza (I prefer their taco pizza, myself)... Casey's General Store is a gas station chain, headquartered in Iowa, but they have locations spread throughout the Midwest... They make pizza and sandwiches and other dishes that can be taken to go, but many locations deliver too... You can order a whole pizza or by the slice... BTW, Iowa also leads the nation in corn and egg production, and is usually close to top in production of soy beans and beef...

WHY? WHY does the internet hear "Ohio" and think of Skyline (a local restaurant chain in one city, with a bizarre signature dish that nobody actually likes)? That's so wrong, and nobody who is actually from Ohio would ever vote for it. Even people who love Cincinnati, don't eat at Skyline. It's a novelty that people from out of town try once and then never want again. Everyone knows all of Ohio's best foods are desserts, and the most iconic, by a very wide margin, is buckeyes. Also, he mispronounced "pasty". Granted, the spelling isn't helping. And I would not have given that an A. I've had an authentic pasty from the UP, once, and never really wanted one again. It's basically just beef stew in a bog-standard pastry crust, which is not an amazing combination. I mean, it's ok, but I'd put it in C tier. The list of foods that are better, that people commonly eat in Michigan, is long. Detroit-style pizza would be the A-tier pick. Or Traverse City dried cherries.

Never seen Knoephla (NEF-LA) with chicken in it in any part of North Dakota and I'm of a German from Russia backround. Beef-sometimes and my Grandmother used to put Bacon or Ham in it, also there is creamy style and a brothy style and genuinely surprised it ranked that high. Still better than that South Dakota fried crap those things are disgusting to me asvwell as Spam even though I ate a lot of it growing up🤢
