I have a buddy who was a K-9 handler for a private security company. He said the dog was with him 24/7 and when he left the company, they gave him the dog as a gift.

A "trache" refers to a tracheostomy, where you create an artificial opening within the trachea to help them breathe.

Different working dogs are famous here, Traverse City Michigan Airport had a wildlife control dog named Piper:kzbin.info/www/bejne/pX-UmGZ7otlmgZo He was very photogenic. A trach is making an emergency airway for the dog to breath if injured. The US military has really changed how they handle the working dogs and many handlers work hard to take their 'buddies' with them when they retire.

Trach means a tracheotomy. You basically put the tube down their throat to clear the airway. I'm not sure how you make sure it goes down the right path to the lungs. I know what to look for on a human (actually what to listen for). Probably the same thing.

3:47 chokes the dog into compliance, usually it just makes it uncomfortable enough for the dog to stop without actually choking it but it can choke a dog if it is stubborn

A "trach" is short for a tracheotomy meaning if need to provide breathing for them...just like with a human soldier they make a small incession across the trachea (wind pipe) then insert the tube, secure it and have a hand held "pump" basically to pump air into the pups lungs so it will not expire from oxygen deprivation ....a trach would be used as a last resort in a critical scenario...they are not pretty or fun to perform, watch performed or I'm certain to have one done to you but they would be given pain killing topical medicine so they do not feel the incision just like with a person....
