lol isn't this social media in a nutshell? Everyone, particularly women, posting constant (edited) photos for nothing but VALIDATION from others. Likes & views = validation lol. Everyone obviously wants to look and feel good. It's a hard fact, but women have been altering their natural (beauty) though much much more (unhealthy) practices than men ever had. Hypocrisy is within us all. It's why I call bs every time an attractive person, such as herself, says that looks aren't everything. Fact = in order to get to know and experience someone's personality and other attributes, you first have to pass though the physical attractiveness filter. This is where MANY men are initially ignored & dismissed.

So I'm pretty insecure about my teeth. I have a minor under-bite that has caused the teeth of my upper jaw to come in crooked with gaps. My whole life I've had issues with smiling and just a lack of confidence. So I recently decided to look into doing something about it. The first oral implant center I spoke to suggested getting dental caps on ALL my front teeth. It was an affordable option AND can be done in just a few weeks. Sounds great, right? Well, they basically wanted to grind down my existing teeth into little nubs and glue fake teeth on top. I did some homework and found it's not only irreversible and can cause some longtern health issues. Plus every 10sh years you need new caps, so you're spending like $10k+ every 10 years. I then went to two dentists and a highly rated orthodontist to see if invisalign was a better option. All gave me the same answer. I could do invisalign to help my smile a little, but I would def need upper-jaw surgery if I ever wanted a 'normal' smile. Basically they would detach my upper jaw, move it forward a little, and then re-attach it with bolts. It's incredibly invasive, costly, and I'm sure takes time to fully recover. I'm going to talk to a oral surgeon about the procedure just to weigh my options. But at this point, I'm thinking fuck it. I'll just accept I don't have a beautiful smile. I'm still a great guy regardless. If a girl can't see that and gets hung-up on my imperfect teeth, she's clearly not the one for me.

@@dernvader6876 It really is. I'm sure many men in a similar situation would have jumped at the quick/easy answer of getting those dental caps. Only to then spend years and god knows how much money regretting it. I'm just not willing to go that far. I'd rather focus my energy fixing the things that are well within my power. Like eating better, dealing with my social anxiety, and working out regularly.

Self improvement is great but you just arent going to be attractive to everybody. So strive to be the best version of yourself and learn to embrace the fact that you are not perfect. Be weary of hormonal change drugs. If it works for you with no side effects, then awesome and I’d definitely say continue doing it. However, you could fuck your hormones up for life including low sperm count that never return to normal (despite what the science says, these cases absolutely exist and aren’t just placebo). I have never heard or seen someone who lost a girl because of his hair. It’s typically because they show their insecurity. Embrace your height and your hair loss. Even if you have to lie to yourself. Courtney says that looksmaxxing preys upon men with insecurities. At the end of the day, you don’t need to looksmax if you aren’t insecure. Boost everything else (teeth, clothing, hygiene, smell, personality, communication, etc.). Focus on all of that, and that should get you further than these looksmaxxing losers who are ultra insecure and spend all day looking at themselves and talking about looksmaxxing on forums even if you have no hair and are short. I’d rather be 4 foot 11 and look like the thumb from spy kids than to be a insecure guy too caught up with his own looks because he believe he needs to, to find love from women.

In terms of mewing, I think it’s pretty undisputed by orthodontists that it’s important for good childhood jaw development. The problem really comes in when adults HARD-Mew. When they do excises to try and split their palatial suture with the sheer force of their tongue. This (especially when done poorly) can cause all kinds of complications, especially if one already suffers from TMJD. I’m 25, and the act of simply closing my mouth, properly raising my tongue, breathing through my nose, and swallowing against my palate truly has changed me for the better. Not only has it actually changed my appearance as my double chin has completely picked up, but the buccal mass of my cheeks hollowed out, but my breathing is more relaxed and my sense of smell has improved 10x. It also put some other postural corrections on my radar (i.e. anterior head posture or anterior pelvic tilt). It’s important to take what nuggets of wisdom one can, and don’t throw the baby out with the bath water

They just go like "It's not true, trust me bro" or "Every woman is different". Or they try to tell you to go outside and see that there are a lot of average dudes with girlfriends. I’ve been diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder since I was 15. Meaning I literally see my face different then how everyone else sees it. It causes severe depression, and suicidal thoughts since the age of just 12 years old I hyper fixated on the little imperfections on my face. It got so bad when I was 16 I took a razer to my face because I didn’t feel like it was handsome enough even tho I’ve had multiple women tell me otherwise. I used to wish I had different parents so I looked a curtain way which caused unjustifiable resentment. I’ve been doing this whole “looks maxing thing” since I was a little constantly on skincare, changing my hairstyle, and color, all while absolutely hating every part, and imperfection on my face to the point I’ve almost taken my own life. I’m not writing this to be like “oh poor me” all I’m saying it constantly fixating on your appearance does nothing good for you or anyone else in your life. There’s a different between basic self care, and then there’s a point where it becomes absolutely insane. Hope everyone stays safe out there, and loves them for who they are, and don’t listen to these submale discord mods telling you you need to look a curtain of way. What is frustrating for me, is that I do all of these things already, and have for years. I take care of myself in every way possible. The way i have always believed is that if you dont take care of yourself, how can you ever be expected to take care of someone else? I never thought I would say this but sometimes I just feel like giving up on all of that. Sadly, the only women that seem to be interested are what I call older women. I've made that mistake before. How can I ever expect to have a family like that? The clock is ticking as I am middle aged and will turn 48 on March 15th. I have alot to offer someone. But particularly women just don't seem to notice it. In my area, women seem to like men of lower standards. I don't have bulging muscles or face tattoos or drive around with a bass system in my car like I'm still 19. I grew up. I don't know if I'm in the wrong area or not? I'm in Springfield, Ohio...I'm from Dayton. I'm in a real pickle.

There's a KZbinr called Hoe_Math that does a fantastic job explaining what women generally think about and value when it comes to dating. I suggest giving his "zones" video a look to see what you might need to work on. Also, have you ever considered moving? Maybe a change of scenery is what you need. As the old saying goes, " If the fish aren't biting in the lake that you're at, then go to a different spot." Where you currently live, there are factors that are out of your control, like scarcity. So, it makes sense to put yourself in a position that favors you. At the end of the day, it's your life, and you must decide what you're willing to do.

To me, it mainly consist of 3-4 steps: take care of your body, take care of your mental health, improve your style (weather it's clothing, hair style). Perspective from a 23 yr old guy who is "looksmaxing", engaging with that kind of content - I'm not objectively handsome, I'm not charismatic, I'm not making a lot of money, I'm pretty introverted and don't do a lot of conventionally fun things, I love doing stuff at home and just going out on occasion. Also, Im a "nice guy" as opposed to a badboy. With all of that basic stuff said, I have never had a girlfriend - despite my embarrassingly strong effort put into trying to get into a relationship. The exception is this one girl that just completely used me. So I asked myself the question, "why can't I even get a date?" I researched all of the conventional "be yourself" type of advice, and it got me nowhere. Then i discovered looksmaxxing and everything seemed to make sense. If i was more handsome, had more money, and had a "better personality" then that will probably increase my ability to get a girlfriend. It gives me an extreme level of motivation that someday all the effort might be worth it. I'm not stupid, and I'm not depressed, I'm just trying to do what it really takes for a guy like me to get a girlfriend some day. If anyone has questions or wants to discuss, Im open.

While she may genuinely believe that statement, the part that she doesn't say out loud is 'looks aren't everything, you need to be educated and successful as well', which is true for her AND is actually the complete opposite of the message she's trying to send out in this video. No, you can't compensate for looks with your personality or sense of style. You need personality AND style AND looks AND status for a woman like Courtney to want to date you. Don't pay attention to what women say. Pay attention to what they do.

What are some of your hobbies? Are they things you do by yourself? IF they can be done with others trying to join a club/group where you can meet people. Doesn't even have to be to meet a woman, just to meet people. The more friends and people you meet, obviously the more people you'll meet haha. And then through those connections you can find that special someone perhaps. I don't know you personally of course but a lot of people who complain are spending too much time on the internet, or are using a dating app where the chances are just super slim and most men/women aren't that serious. Just living your life authentically and being social can get you pretty far and if you have trouble with social skills, they'll just improve. If you do resort to apps, it might be more worth your time to use a more exclusive paid one than the Wild West like Tinder. Don't get down on your luck though or pity yourself. Never seen a guy get a girl out of pity.

@@Ray03595 Couple of things: 1) Most guys are already over saturated with friends, what they are lacking is romantic options. Ponder why that's the case. So advising them to join clubs with men or simply making friends is a huge waste of time, especially men who are in their mid 30s who want to get married and settle quickly. The more they leave things to luck, the more their options are being reduced. 2) "..a lot of people who complain are spending too much time on the internet, or are using a dating app where the chances are just super slim and most men/women aren't that serious" What's the basis for this assumption? Have you actually bothered to personally get to know the folks who talk about their struggles? How many do you know personally? Don't fill the gap in your knowledge with absurd ad hoc assumptions when you don't have enough evidence to support them. 3. "If you do resort to apps, it might be more worth your time to use a more exclusive paid one than the Wild West like Tinder." We have stats from serious relationship oriented app exclusively for folks graduated from ivy league universities that shows even the most educated women disqualify 70-80% of men using height and race filters alone. Let that sink in.

How old are you@@perrycoffey5410? If you're 15 you're still growing in height and that takes a lot of energy. My son at about that age started lifting weights (for baseball pitchers exercises at first) and had to start eating 4000 calories a day (he said that was hard to do). In a few years his weight was up and he had put on 20 lbs. Some years later he's now around 190 lbs (he's taller). If you're older, get into the gym and start eating. Then watch your life change. Respectfully, Courtney, as a very beautiful women, you simply can't relate to the average guy's experience. I understand you don't want the world to be that way, but it is as it is. This is especially to your last point: yes to participate in the dating market, which is progressively more online, You'd rather be taller than not. You'd rather have hair than not. and if you don't have either, you're effectively not getting any matches. So when you say "you don't need to go to Turkey to get a hair transplant" because you can find love without it, respectfully that's not what the data shows. This is downright gaslighting at this point. You're right that it can be taken to the extreme to the point of being detrimental, but more often than not, that hair transplant and even height surgery greatly improves QOL, precisely because we live in a superficial society. And someone with your looks might never really understand what its like on the other side of the table, so at least apply a bit more humility and benefit of the doubt when approaching the topic. I guarantee you if you lived life as a 5'3 man, leg surgery wouldn't be that wild an idea.

I think it’s better to just be yourself. You can still look good by doing the basic things like getting fit, dressing well, and good hygiene. Going to the extreme with plastic surgeries and other things is where you lose your identity, trying to be someone else. It’s worth it when you find someone that loves you for you even with your imperfections, at least you know the relationship is genuine.

Taking care of your body(eating good, exercise, hygiene, even dressing for the occasion) is just basic stuff, it's not "maxing." The things that go beyond that are getting into pride/vanity territory and it's high maintenance. As men, we should keep it simple because we have bigger things to concern ourselves with. If your focus is "looksmaxxing," then there's something else going on that you need to deal with, not distract yourself from with silly and neurotic behaviors.

Seemingly a significant proportion of women are actually negative affecting ther skin through their skin care routine. The number one things are basic like protect your skin against the sun or cold, reduce an inflammatory lifestyle like don't have an açai bowl with 60g of sugar and then three drinks at a club later that day, and then the next most important thing would be acute issues or things that are coincidental with various medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid disease, etc

I think there's a fine line between grooming and maintaining hygiene vs undergoing a bunch of cosmetic procedures in the hopes of changing your fundamental appearance. What we should be aiming for is natural upkeep instead of spending excessively on artificial interventions. But yeah, men can always compensate for subpar looks by improving other areas of their lives. The problem with this trend is that its proponents believe physical appearance is the sole criterion for gauging attractiveness. It basically boils down the complexity of attraction to a single variable.

Also as a short man at 5'7 I don't think Courtney truly understands how disheartening it is to see constant height bashing on every social media platform and dating app. I am at the point where I am a grain of sand of giving up on dating fully. I can handle my friends casually joking about my height but to see women on dating apps who I would date disqualify me before meeting me just because I'm a little short (which I can't change) is actually heartbreaking.

This really went on. And the model would already be outstanding looking, but he wanted to be Perfect. An example of male model perfection right now is the English gentleman David Gandy. He is all natural and so overwhelming, J-lo said she was nervous around him when she used him for her video. David inherited the genetic lottery. Looksmaxing on its own won't solve dating problems. Guys look at girls and notice that females that improve their looks automatically get much more attention from males. It doesn't work the same in opposite direction. For a man, the best strategy would be to end up in an environment where there are a lot of females with few males, so he can have a lot of options and few competition. And ONLY after that, he can improve his looks to have higher chances and/or have better chance with a high quality female. Good looking girls gets approached everywhere but good looking guys almost never get so much attention from stranger women. You still have to initiate, communicate, compete with other males and so on. In addition, putting work, effort and time into your looks inflates your ego which hurts you in the long run. You start feeling that you already put much work and resources into you so you will not even approach and talk to girls. You just stand there and wait for them to initiate. Again, rarely works even with attractive guys. In conclusion, you have to talk to a lot of women on a daily basis. That should be your starting point, the base, the fundamentals. Anything else is just a bonus.

Thanks for the video. I've never heard of "Looksmaxxing," and I'm still not exactly sure what this trend is. When you speak about striking one's face, I will say that being on the internet has caused me to facepalm quite a bit. I think many things are an issue of balance. I'm sure that the people who work for your advertiser would claim that my cleaning routines were completely wrong. There's a tendency among extremists to say things like, "If you're not going to do what I say, you might as well not do anything at all." I think many people get so many messages in so many directions that they give up on everything. I've been using Irish Spring soap for over fifty years. I'm sure that many people would attack my using Irish Spring soap, and some would probably say that I'd be better off not using soap than using Irish Spring. I don't listen to those people, but I suspect that some men who don't use soap have given up because they've faced that criticism. I'm a fan of the 80/20 rule. The idea of that "rule" is that we get about eighty percent of the value of anything from the first twenty percent of the effort. We then have to put in the last eighty percent of the effort to get the last twenty percent of value. As a kid, I was always expected to shower very thoroughly. I like to say that I felt that I had to shower as if I were a doctor about to perform surgery in the nude. While there's value to this kind of thorough cleaning on a somewhat regular basis, I also believe that there is value to taking quick showers where I put in only twenty percent of the effort but get most of the benefit. Because I was raised with the idea of needing to be completely thorough every time, I sometimes skip showers completely when I should just take a quick, easy shower. Another problem for many of us who are older is that we had such bad and counterproductive experiences in gym class as kids. We weren't taught stretching in a way that was healthy. As a result, we came to hate stretching. In some ways, that was good because following the stretching practices that we were taught would only have made things worse. The bad part is that we weren't as active as we should have been. The change that I wish we could encourage for young people is finding some kind of physical activity that would help them develop greater bone density during the years that their bones are forming. For most kids, a balance would be best. Some kids exercise too much and have joint problems by the time that they reach their twenties. Most kids exercise too little. Finding the right balance to get good bone density would be helpful. That approach may not be directly related to physical appearance, but I wish that trend could become popular. As a photographer, I've at times felt that cameras capture self-image and self-confidence as much as physical image. To the extent that doing a few things makes someone feel better, those things might improve appearance. To the extent that they feed mental illness rather than provide self-confidence, they are only making people look worse.

JFL at how regarded you must be if you think showering is something more effective than improving balding, teeth, skin, faciaI aesthetic💀💀💀💀

@@iMogggYouuu I'm not even sure what you are trying to say. You seem to have missed the points that I was trying to make. I didn't say anything regarding balding, and I don't think anything I said relates to balding in any way. I didn't say anything about teeth at all. Taking care of one's skin is good, but the notion that bargain soaps can't do the job well enough for many of us, particularly many men, is wrong. Facial aesthetic sounds like some kind of buzz word favored by extremists. My point is that balance is a good thing and those who are fanatics about their particular routine are fools.

When I was at my lowest, I had started to consume pro anorexia content. I wqs actively trying to stop eating as a last ditch effort to lose weight. It 100% stems from lonliness and desperation. Online dating is a fantastic way to erode what little self esteem you have. I've been single now for about 8 years despite actively trying to meet someone.
