She cried almost the same way 30 years ago! Not one time did she own up what she did to her babies today. She’s in the place she needs to remain at. It’s terrible for David, every 2 years he needs to go to the parole board?! What an injustice there. My thoughts and prayers for him and his family.

I remember when this happened. She strapped children that she carried in her body into their seats and backed her vehicle into water and let them drown. She was on television begging for their return, blamed a black man and had people looking for these children. It was reported on the news her older son appeared to have tried to get his brother out of his seat. I remember this CLEARLY. Releasing her would be a travesty.

I can't get that picture out of my mind of those two innocent babies strapped in their car seats and the car plunging into the water, sinking, the fear and confusion and pain they felt as the water suffocated them. I feel the same way, Karen. All I can think about is them helplessly strapped in their car seats seeing their mother outside the window as the car rolls into the water. Sitting buoyant for 6 long min as it filled with the cold water and those terrified confused little boys wondering what's going on, where's Mama, we're getting wet and the water is getting deeper. Then what they experienced once the car was submerged. It's unfathomable. I remember the day she and David were on the news pleading to the media. I was 17 yrs old and I thought she doesn't behave like I thought a mother would behave if a stranger just kidnapped their child. I was picturing someone hysterically crying, inconsolable, panicked, falling to their knees in grief and worry. She was nothing like that. She was to calm, to coherent. It's been burned in my mind all these years because she didn't act right. The only mother I had ever heard of, at that time, that had taken their children's lives was Diane Downs. I was appalled at how a mother could do something so horrific for the attention of a man. It was the worst thing I had ever heard. Then here comes Susan. Doing the same horrific crime for the same damn reason, a man that doesn't wasn't children. Those two women haunted me because Mamas wouldn't do that to their babies. 30 yrs later, all of it comes flooding back. Why didn't she leave. Be a deadbeat mother, forget about them and run off with her lover. At least David would have gotten to raise his children and they would have gotten to live their lives. It would have been selfish and disgusting but it's better than being a baby killer. I don't even live in that state and this case has affected me all these years. I'm so glad the parole board did the right thing. David suffers tremendously all these years later, he wears it in his face. He's been destroyed. His pain is as raw as it was 30 yrs ago. As for her, I don't know what the hell she kept wiping at with that Kleenex cause there wasn't a wet spot anywhere on her face or leaking from her eyes. She's a coldhearted monster and I hope she dies behind bars. This poor father breaks my heart. He deserves proper justice.

@@kerrolinad3020 not to mention apparently she was hyper sexual in prison. She talks about immature mistakes. She was in her mid twenties by the time she was convicted. She was too old to not know better. She has no ability to have remorse so she is a sociopath. You can’t fix someone without a conscience. Anyone having contact with her are able to be manipulated. It’s obvious she is using “mental health” as a crutch. You have a captive audience with Susan and she hasn’t changed one bit in 30 years. Her inability to be held accountable for her actions shows in this video.

Her lawyer did his job trelling her to show remorse with her crying and to admit guilt two factors all parole boards look for but it did not over ride the many people who stood for David and his sons She did the same crying number and even sounds the same as she back when she claimed she was car jacked and her sons were in the car And Mr whats his name ( the minister ) did not help any by suggesting the guards used her for their pleasure,,,,still lying I assume No mistake was made by the decision of this panel imo

It's intriguing that one who is rightfully imprisoned for two deaths, yet the rich and powerful can be free to reign over America. The ramifications, the collateral damage from this woman's actions linger long and the damage is unfathomable. Your American (SCOTUS) court system is corrupted by political power, yet ordinary people are subject to a seemingly appropriate justice system. It's a shame that America's justice system falls mainly on the not so rich.. What's happened to the America where civil rights have no longer any sway?

I was watching this live in my living room & everything that took place. I remember Susan Smith telling police that a black man took her car with her babies in it. I remember how the young black men were treated by some police officers trying to find the perpetrator so they could locate those two angels. It damn near started a race war. She has the same manipulative personality she had 30 years ago. She can't change she is who she is & it's appalling that Life doesn't mean Natural Life! David has suffered the most & he shouldn't have to deal with her every two years when she's up for parole. David you're a strong good man & you're boys are so proud of their Dad. I'm so happy that you found love again & have a beautiful family. I have never forgotten about you or Michael & Alex. Susan likely is a narcissist with a personality disorder that Drs say is untreatable. Seeing her cry & talk today brought me back to that horrific day. She hasn't changed & she only helps those in prison who have something Susan wants. She's a self serving manipulative narcissist who isn't sorry for anyone but herself! She's a child killer & always will be remembered for that. Tommy Pope looks great we're all a few decades older but he did such a great job thirty years ago & he nailed it again today. He knows exactly who Susan Smith is & what harm she'd put Michael through if she was ever released on parole. She used God and religion to justify rationalize her choice to drowned her children because they would supposedly be better off without her as she said. God religion has been the source of the most horrendous pain imaginable so how about you leave God out of it and just being reality, not magical thinking and hold her accountable, prayers mean nothing because that’s only magical thinking

Good I’m glad she was denied parole. I don’t believe she was sincere I feel like tears were fake. It was all about her and not those boys. She chose to have an affair and she chose to let those boys die.. committing adultery is a sin in killing someone or somebody is also a sin. She committed many things while she’s been in prison for the past 30 years. She does not deserve to be free.

I went to high school with Susan --and i was in school with her brother in law, David's brother from elementary school. This woman did damage to the whole community in so many ways. In high school, she was always one of the girls that always was a winner even if she had to make someone feel bad while doing so. Basically, she was "better than everyone else" at everything. And she wasnt really a nice person. That's what i know. My dad was in the recovery effort and he will never be able to forget what he saw. The baby had pulled his hair out in terror and his older brother had grabbed the rolled down window clinging to it.

At 5:06 of this video, Susan Smith 's lawyer had the nerve to say it is a mental health issue. No it was a mother didn't want to be a mother anymore and straight-up killed her precious little babies over a man that didn't want her. These precious souls' deaths were horrible. Then she lied and said a Black man carjacked her and kidnapped her 2 little babies. This woman needs to stay in jail forever.

I don't think she has any remorse whatsoever. That car floated for SIX. WHOLE. MINUTES before it sank. She had plenty of time to change her mind and save her babies. But she didn't, and lied to the police for over a week. She's just as heartless now as she was 30 years ago and I hope she spends the rest of her miserable life in prison.
