I’ve read and heard about this case repeatedly but I have NEVER heard either of the two facts I think are massively impactful: (1) Denali witnessed the gruesome murder of her baby sister - even if she hadn’t had any pre-existing developmental delays or intellectual disabilities, without comprehensive therapeutic intervention, there’s no way she was even remotely close to 18, cognitively, at chronological-age 18, when she committed whatever crime she engaged in. Second, everyone has always been like, how could she have thought the guy was for real? But what never got mentioned is that he had already PAID her large sums of money, for doing other things which were considered socially unacceptable- she was systematically groomed online and was extremely, almost cartoonishly vulnerable. She was a literal child, especially in her capability to predict the consequences of her actions. She didn’t want to destroy her phone after the murder- that should tell you a lot. She didn’t understand the gravity of her situation. She had been sacrificed by the adults around her- by not intervening, they sacrificed her - she was acting out, as hard as she possibly could, and she still wasnt getting any support. Not everyone knows how to verbalize that they need help, especially if nobody has ever shown them what healthy/appropriate self-advocacy even looks like or sounds like.

There was a story in the first week or so of this crime and subsequent arrest. A story by a friend of a friend. He said that Mummy dearest paid off a room mate who had seen CP on his computer.. Don't know if it's true, however, fits the enabling aspect that got everyone in that position.. IMO.
