Absolutely great plan and fully agree. But what people (not you here I mean) underestimate in this case is the response of trauma is different for everyone. Not everyone has knowledge of the psychology and how the brain is working, and how the trauma process is working. Betty’s mind couldn’t deal anymore with consequences of permanent non stop years after years narcissistical abuse. Considering the 80s years the society knew so few about narcissism and its influences on people’s mind and behavior. As well we dont have to forget that perception of the marriage in 80s was much way another compared to nowadays: women like Betty were programmed to be a Wife, sacrifice herself for family, lacking self love and personal interests as well. By the way, having 4 children was a lot initiated by Dan, - one of the narcissism tactics to make victim dependent, moneyless & overloaded by family responsibilities not to develop or grow as personality. Another remark: many write about Betty’s obsession about Dan etc. this is common posttraumatic syndrom from narcissistical abuse. Many years the neurons of the victim will be trained to turn around the narcissist partner. When the partner leaving the victim literally collapsing, Betty was fully dependent on narcissist partner not only about money but what is much worser emotionally. Her head will be turning around only about this. Its a heavy deep traumatic codependent connection. She couldnt get any psychological help because at these years there was no profis specializing about narcissistical abuse. Nowadays therapists know technics to break neuron connections to stop ‘turning around syndrom’ of the victim. She was traumatized to such a point that even went into dissociation while on crime scene. Before dissociation happens the trans/stupor reactions that may last for years. This woman’s brain couldnt handle anymore many layered traumas & collapsed. Some would collapse by hurting themselves, others would fall into escapism/drugs/alcohol etc, others would hurt their abuser etc, - depends on its own survival instincts that we have from our generation/father/mother/grandmother etc. I could write so much yet on this all. For instance suffering of Betty was giving to Dan the very known termin in narcissistical terminology so called ‘narcissistical resource’. When ex-victims glow up and enjoy their life, abusers often cannot deal with it. Linda could be as well his victim (not a fact), raised by Dan’s programming. They often do triangulation, he could as well gaslight Linda and she started to support abuse of Betty unconsciously. Who knows, maybe one day she would face with the real face of Dan as well. So happy for you you build yourself up. This is the best punishment for them 🙏🙌😊💛

This is best comment I’ve seen so far. She had all the resources to achieve her goals and go on to live a good life. It’s what she put her children through that is so awful to me. If for no other reason, do it for them! Yes her husband was abusing his attorney knowledge to aggravate the situation that is no reason to do what she did to her children. Those voicemails were enough proof to me that she is a very disturbed woman.

I went back to a University program two years after. I worked for a while first to see what I wanted to do. I never actually "got over" him, and stopped trying to. I just accepted that it was meant to be that I would meet him, and the duration of it was also meant to be. I don't hate him ( I do dislike his adult kids and first wife - a lot, because they were playing me the day i moved in) but i just feel that it was a very dysfunctional and abusive relationship. He even refused to let me come to his son's engagement party because I "will upset his wife " I was his wife, not her. He was always talking about her, trying to figure out what would get her back. I was not allowed in his son's wedding pictures ( because I wasn't his son's mother) it was crazy. He wanted a hausfrau and cleaning lady/cook until his wife returned. She never would, they are divorced, she's bought a home, and can't stand him. She plays with him, and he was always upset with her instead of focusing on me. Some things you just don't have the power to change, and the energy you're wasting can be redirected to things that will benefit you. Dan Broderick would have cheated on this Linda down the road. It could have been any woman after she became a mom and wasn't completely focused on praising him. They were both playing games with Betty who had devoted her adult years to Dan. These films about them make Dan and Linda out to be a young ( he was in his 40s) couple in love that Betty was sabotaging. Betty is very intelligent, but she was so consumed with Dan and had nothing else so she just had no perspective. I worked for years before marriage with the public, so I saw that my relationship was dysfunctional. You can't "fix" an abusive person. It's not realistic, and it's exhausting.

She thinks her feelings are the most important thing in the world. I’ve never heard her utter a word of empathy even for her own children. When it comes to the kids all she says is “I was the best mom.” In her mind, the world revolves about her and is all subjective to her feelings.

@@sreedhanyapillai3936 it's not as simple as that - her sacrifices and hard work went along with a foul-mouth, verbal insults and a caustic wit that embarrassed friends of the Brodericks and later the two older daughters. and you wonder why people never appreciated what she did?? you must not know a lot about narcissism. You need to have at least 5 of the 9 traits that qualify a person to be a narcissist. Betty was diagnosed with all 9. Her and Dan were a match made in hell.

The Marital settlement was $28,000 for Betty. He hid money and loaned his brother close to a million dollars. The alimony he paid her was coming to an end. He humiliated her and cheated her out of money and the dignity she deserved.
@Heirphoria138 ай бұрын
None of that is true. He gave her whatever she wanted. Paid for everything including her mortgage. She in turn drove her car into his house, smashed patio door, smashed picture window, smeared pie all over his bedroom and drew all over their bathroom. Spoke to their children like garbage AND she dropped the kids to him with their suitcases.And lets not forget....murdered them while they slept.

@@Heirphoria13 No, all of what I wrote is true. Eventually a bank found out about the "loans" Uncle Larry received from his brother prior to his divorce and sued him on the children's behalf to get what should have been their inheritance. Dealings with Dan were akin to bargaining with a demonic snake. Everything he paid for was tabulated including the mortgage as items to be deducted from the marital estate at an inflated rate. They were "Epstein Credits" Betty wound up with a $28,000.00 divorce settlement whereas her hard work allowing him to study for years and not support his family made him a multimillionaire. He sold their house from underneath her and refused to talk to her. Yes she drove her car through his front door and fortunately was unharmed. At that point she really lost it and was out of control angry. Her kid(s) could have been hurt. He cheated on her and literally out of a fair share of the marital estates.

@@Heirphoria13 Part 2 to my previous response. Betty dropped the children off at Dan's`as a ploy to get him to appreciate her and that she did a lot of work for the care of their children. His calculated response was to hire a Nanny and keep them because he would keep more money$$$ for himself from the marital estate. As far as smearing the boston cream thing his secretary/ho made for him over his bedroom If it made Betty feel a little better why not?.it wasn't as if they split on good terms and he was parading Linda in front of his children. As far as murdering them while they slept linda was awake and told Dan to call the Police. She knew she was paying the ultimate price for breaking up a marriage. Not that she or Dan deserved to die but they made their own bed so to speak. Betty was deliberately pushed over the edge in the hopes of causing a suicide. It didn't work out that way. Dan was also looking to hire a hit man to get rid of Betty and any future payments he would need to make to her

@loralieisa Are you serious? So when the intruder comes in and they wake up that makes it different cause they were no longer asleep at 5am? He gave her everything she asked for in the divorce. Including paying all her expenses and her mortgage. Bottom line is she's mentally ill and couldnt let it go. SHE asked for a divorce numerous times way before Linda was around and degraded him every chance she got. She's a loon.
