Fact : You can be both mentally ill and commit a conscious violent murder. She may have a mental illness or 3, but she also committed murder at the exact moment that her mother was about to unravel the spider web of Sydney's lies. I don't believe in coincidence. You're either hallucinating OR you know the college is calling, you can't intermix them both and toss in a random intruder too. Its garbage. I think she's depressed, I think she's clearly demonstrated an adjustment issue. But I think she knew damn well the moment her mom got into a conversation with thw college admins, her lies would crumble. That was a logical course of events, I'd even say its motive, but it wasn't a delusion. Her life was in fact falling apart. She hit her mom over the head with a frying pan! She didn't scream "oh my god someone broke in", she pretended to BE her mom, then proceeded to stab her dozens of times. Thats not schizo, that's intention.

The job and duty of a defense attorney is to basically plan the best possible defense for your client. It doesn't have to be true, it just had to result in them walking free. So it's hard to say if he's a believer or a great defense attorney. And I guess I don't care. I generally just think about how the jury would feel sitting there. And in this case, I'm uneasy. I'm definitely not confident that the jury will come back guilty. I think she killed her mom entirely over her college failures. I think she knew what she was doing, mentally ill or not. I don't think she's anywhere near ill enough to meet the standard for a serious mental defect. I can appreciate her lawyers work, but I hope the jury sees through the BS and sends her to prison.

Justice for Brenda. She gave Sydney a wonderful childhood and raised her with love and kindness. Brenda was murdered in a needless, violent, painful manner by her own daughter, and now the family is doing the best to protect Sydney from accountability for her horrific action.

I think prosecution did a much better job in closings. There are so many things id love to address from the defenses closing, but i cant remember them all now and its really not worth my time. I just hope the jury sees what the majority of us see, and that justice for Brenda is served to the fullest.
@emmyemmy8669 Жыл бұрын
prosecutions did a much better closing because they are going by the facts - can’t argue with the facts of sydney caught in lies over and over again and sydney immediately changing her stories whenever she was caught in an inconsistency.
@TheJourneyToJustice Жыл бұрын
She did her self....her mother was giving her a talking-to to and called the college, then and only then she went on the attack....to the head and neck making sure it would kill her mother. Lots of crimes happen this way.....The insanity plea is reserved for the real mentally ill people and she is not mentally ill...maybe her actions got her down and she made up a story knowing her dad and grandparents would believe her no matter what and that's just what happened....This will not stop her from going to prison for a while or even life.

The phoniness of the defence is so apparent on the appearance of Sydney. Why is her hair isn't even combed properly? Where is decent clothing and a little makeup, just to resemble her look before the murder? They deliberately make her *look* like an insane person. I hate their tactic, it's so transparent, such a cheep trick. Hope the jury doesn't fall for it.

her mom was probably giving sydney a scolding and giving sydney an earful. i don’t believe sydney planned it but she did snap - she probably got angry at her mom’s scolding and disappointment. we can tell sydney isn’t much of a planner- she lies and acts without thinking of the long term plan and consequences. anyone that can see long term consequences, would know lying about being expelled can’t last forever.
@DR-mq1vn Жыл бұрын
I think you are right. Sydney hit her Mom with the frying pan and it wasn't planned. But then she grabbed a knife (it only takes seconds for premeditation). The fact that she then used a knife shows premeditation in those few seconds. She is guilty.

her mom was on the phone with the college when she was attacked. The college administrators heard the blows from the pan, and then the air escaping her lungs when she switched to stabbing. It was the lie being exposed that triggered Sydney, not being given a scolding.
