He didn’t talk about it in the video, but for those who don’t know, you can get the Japanese Collectors Edition (which comes with a statue, art book, and keychains) on Play-Asia for $90 and will come around the week of release. I think you still get the Adventure skin and you can play it in English. The only thing I don’t know is if it also includes Gerald’s notebook or the reverse-able cover so if anyone knows feel free to comment.

So like the thing about geralds journal is that there is a 99 percent chance someone is gonna do a reading on it the second it comes out, that or its getting reposted on reddit or twitter, so I just got the digital version because i want to play it early, That being said there have been imagery of book collectables in some stages and since the only Book related thing this game has is the journal, theres a none zero chance that you will be able to collect the journal pages much like Egg Memos from frontiers, which is a great choice to me to re use that concept since they were pretty cool in frontiers but lacked direction, to me atleast, the journal pages being this games version of that makes it a bit more interesting due to the nature of geralds research, but for those worried about missing lore, I wouldnt get to carried away.

Another downside about the collectors edition is that it isn’t fully guaranteed that the physical copy of the game will arrive on the release date. It says on limited runs’ website that the shipping timeframe for the physical copy is between Oct 25 and Nov 8, so while it is most likely that the game will arrive on the 25th it isn’t guaranteed and if there’s any shipping issues then there’s a chance you won’t get your copy of the game until 12 days after the release, so if you’re hoping to get your copy and play it day one, just know the risk you’re taking with the collectors edition

I've already got the digital deluxe edition on preorder so I'm not worried. October 22nd can't come fast enough. Just like most others I'm double dipping into the Sonic Generations side of things to see if it's getting more than just a glow up and an upgrade to 4K graphics with 120 fps native performance. But I'm not going to expect anything to be a major change to the game since all Sega is doing is trying to improve upon perfection. If i were to want anything from the remaster I'd choose to have new game plus and the option to replay stages with all of Sonic's friends.

I wish game companies would just sell us a phyiscal version of the soundtrack for games without making it a limited release and/or limited to an overpriced collectors edition. Hell games like Witcher 3 and Unreal anthology just included a free soundtrack disc in the standard edition of the games. If sega knows everyone loves the music for the sonic games then just make it available to buy separately.

To anyone wondering about Limited Run Games, they have a history of taking INCREDIBLY long to ship certain games out (I'm talking over a year), and not replacing any product that was damaged while being shipped. Their customer service is also absolutely atrocious. I don't think Sonic X Shadow Generations will have these issues since it's a high-profile game, but it's something worth knowing.

In the end, I ended up going with the PS4 Limited Run, but it says that the shipping date will be *between* October 25th and November 8th, so I will ALSO be pre-ordering a physical PS5 copy because I don't trust it to come in on time, then sell the PS4 version to *maybe* get some money back. I’m a hardcore Sonic fan, I haven’t played every single game (especially those that have the most drop-dead amazing lore) but I have seen gameplay videos and videos explaining the lore and games. But anyways, I don’t think I’m getting the Limited Run games collector’s edition because by the time I could get it, it might be too late because of the limited time to preorder it. Not only that, but I feel like I’ll only preorder the regular Nintendo Switch edition, now getting the PS4 version of the collector’s box would be cool for the collection and to play; I won’t be getting it because of the price and I also don’t have a PS4 or PS5.

I got the "Day One Edition" on Switch, Physical. And yes, the game runs well on Switch and doesn't have any lag. The version I got came with the SA1 Skin (Code) and Gerald's Journal (Booklet) inside the game case, I also Upgraded to the Deluxe Edition afterwards.

The amount of releases they put out this time around has me ordering all 3 versions (Xbox, PS, and Nintendo) already. Xbox version is the standard physical for day of release, Nintendo is the JP Special Edition with the Shadow statue, and PS5 is the Limited Run edition. They've been doing well at making excuses for me to want the versions for every system, Frontiers I bought standard on Xbox, and got the JP Special Edition for Nintendo, eventually buying PS5 just because I only just newly bought a PS5 like a year later. Superstars I bought on Xbox for day one, bought on PS5 with the iam8bit Special Edition, and just recently bought the JP Special Edition with the Sonic statue for Switch. In a way, it's nice to have an excuse for additional physical stuff when I buy multiple versions of a game I like, rather than just buying them to have them on the alternate platforms. But at the same time... I really wish there was just ONE special edition version and they were worldwide released, it's not exactly fun spending all the additional money on importing from Japan or US to the UK, not to mention the higher cost editions... But I'd rather pay for this stuff than digital-only any day.

I am going to get both the Physical Standard Edition on Switch and the Digital Deluxe Edition on PS4 cause with the former version, I can get the content from the Digital Deluxe Edition on the Nintendo eShop once the game releases while the latter version, I want to hunt down some Trophies to get the Platinum. Edit: Also going to put this out there, the Limited Run Collector's Edition is legit the only way that you can get a Physical copy of the PS4 version without importing from other regions outside of North America since that version is Digital only as only the Xbox, PS5 and Switch versions are Physical through major retails like GameStop, Best Buy and other big brand stores alongside your local stores as well that aren't big brand stores.

I change my mind on the collector's edition and cancel my order. I'll buy the early access version and to save some money for other things. I would love to play the game as soon as possible.

I’m debating on getting the Digital Deluxe Switch version or the Physical Switch version; I only want to buy anything for the game once (buying Deluxe so I don’t have to buy DLC later) but Gerald’s journal looks so cool…

Imma get it on the switch mainly so I can play Sonic Generations on the go,although I'm a bit worried how well Shadow Generations would run as there hasn't been any footage of the switch version. There hasn't been any footage of it in Nintendo Directs as the recent Partner Showcase would've been perfect for it since it came out the same day as the Sonic Movie 3 trailer. I know there are trailers that ran at switch specifications, but I just don't see 60fps at Shadow's campaign,even then,you'll never know.

Honestly, I'll buy the standard version and wait for the "deluxe pack" to be released separately to avoid possible disappointment with the extra stages.
