As long as Covenants have power tied to them they will always be a problem. They should only be story and cosmetic. Idk why this is so complicated. Blizz always makes so many frustrating and stupid choices.....

Congrats Selwen! Amazing content as always! Let's hope that this gets fixed before 9.0 goes live. They should give all abilities to all coventants, just changing the "skin" making them more lore-friendly for each covenant.

My thoughts exactly, i LOVE Kyrian i think its entirely badass and besides the mounts being a little bit weak but ability wise its no where near as good for my class

I would love for my Troll Shaman to wear plate, use death coil, bubble, and have a stomp. Based on the decisions I made I can't do that. I gave up the ability to tank when I chose a Shaman class. We all have to make choices. It is up to each of us the prioritize what we want most. It's great they give you a choice that is difficult to decide. That is why we have multiple alts.

An Ability(s) that is part of your class that then get's soft-locked, is a completely different paradigm to anything you described. And this without mentioning how so many of them can be situational and have huge disparities depending on what spec you playing(at least for now anyway) and all the cosmetic aspects that come attached. Imagine if your active ability talents choices were to be soft locked, because that's what covenant abilities are in the end. I see what you mean, I like to make 'permanent' choices but where they make sense.

I would really like to have conduits as essences tbh, maybe even having different effects for different specs in the same conduit would be good too for reducing grind time before you can start doing the good content. As for the covenant abilities they should make it so they are another talent row that has the 4 covenant abilities and the only thing that changes it's the effect, i think for example the Condemn Venthyr ability would look so good with the Night Fae particle effect, and the Ancient Aftershock Night Fae ability would look so good with the Venthyr particle effect, damage types could be reduced to 1 too, something like "Anima Damage" so at least we wouldn't have weird things like Ret Pallys dealing shadow damage or stuff like that. Now the cosmetics i think they should be obtainable no matter what, but with enough amount of effort. Imagine if after you finish the current patch story of your main covenant you could talk to someone in your sanctum to make a quest chain for other covenants that at the end of the expac would give you different transmogs/mounts/toys/achievements even though you are not with them, it could make sense too if you would be helping other covenants with let's say something that only your covenant can actually do.

I remember Ion saying at one point that if they can't balance the covenants closely enough they'll just cave and allow players to choose between them at will, and honestly seeing all the feedback... I feel like that's becoming the reality

Man I hope Blizzard listens. I'm actually terrified that Blizzard will ignore all the suggestions and feedback for making covenants and conduits more gameplay friendly and fun to play with instead of how punishing they designed to be right now.

Sorry this is long... I'd like to see conduits work like essences do, or have them be crafted. I have probably 4-8 hours to play per week which means after the maintenance stuff we will have to do I might have 2-4 hours per week... which might mean i just get to raid once or do a few dungeons. If I have to farm conduits over and over when I want to respec, that will strongly diminish my enjoyment of the game. I already don't like the fact that if I want to try a different covenant for the ability or a change of scenery/characters/lore/whatever, then that means I get to give myself literal weeks of grinding just to try something else. I like night elf lore and the night fae aesthetic and general vibe, but I'd like to try the other abilities whenever. That would go an extremely long way towards my enjoyment of the game. I don't even have beta and I'm already thinking to myself "well I want to play a shaman, but their night fae ability doesn't look as fun as the kyrian one... but I don't really want to be kyrian. So maybe I don't play shaman?"

I really want to play Shadowlands but it just looks like another clusterfuck. Cov.'s should only be cosmetic. Boom, you just fixed the expansion.

I think devs will let us have more covenants and conduits later on, every patch will open one covenants I guess
