Seriously a classic track. Halo CE just had a different vibe to the other games, in the music, and the mystery of the Covenant. The elites having grunting expressions and broken English "Arrrgh, humamon!" IDK, after just completeing Halo CE again, it's strange now starting Halo 2 again as I had a long gap between playing them over a decade ago now.

I never noticed that CE’s theme is such a kickass semi-edm piece. The futuristic electronic sounds from the time of CE make sense considering the futuristic technology the covenant uses though. I just realized that this, when added to the religious choir in the theme as well, builds a complete picture of the covenant as a religious organization driven by their quest for advanced technologies (which they consider to be bestowed upon them by their gods). I like how since the horror element of the flood was missing in Halo: Reach as well as you no longer playing as the Master Chief, the Covenant kind of took up the horror role proper and showed you just how truly terrifying the concept of a covenant invasion could be. And I think their theme reflects this pretty well, while also bringing back some of the ass-kicking sound ideas from ce and turning them up to 11. The soundtrack makes me glad reach was made when it was.

This also adds weight to the Flood menace once you encounter them in CE, just think of it for a sec: The Covenant, an enemy that once looked almighty and invincible at first, is now being wiped out by these new enemies with little to no effort; Those grotesque-looking Grunts that once came in overwhelming numbers, those cold-blooded Jackals that never fall back against the enemy, those imposing Elites capable of beating you up in mere seconds and to strike down entire squads of your allies, and those beasts-looking Hunters that are more than capable of wiping down quite anything that dared challenge them (including us super soldiers), are now being mauled quite easily by this horrifying parasite that, of course, is not your ally. No wonder the Flood is considered the biggest threat in the entire halo series (not even the Brutes nor the Elites can hold their feet against this force of nature, this cosmic horror). That's what I like about the Flood.

It's a Covenant Prayer to keep the Guardian of Sunaion sleeping. At least, that's what the Covenant wanted to achieve. There's an audio log in one of the Sanghelios levels that has a translation and you even come across some grunts performing the same chant during the Battle of Sunaion.

Jul M'dama's Covenant were hardline extremists, even more-so than the original Covenant and their faction was on the precipice of collapse, aside from the plot element of keeping the Guardian sleeping, it makes sense that this fanatical offshoot of the Covenant would be more cultish than what came before them.

@@lebendigesgespenst7669 Even though a large portion of Bungie people work at 343. Plus Joe Staten left Bungie and worked with Microsoft so 343 could talk to him
@lebendigesgespenst76693 жыл бұрын
@@PackHunter117 this is an ancient argument. Bungie was very split on many issues by the end of their time with halo; which is what caused a lot of ex Bungie to join 343 obviously, and also what caused Joseph Staten to leave Bungie and Marty to be fired from the company. This little era of chaos though meant that neither really was the Bungie we once knew, especially since they both lacked instrumental grizzled old ones figures like Joseph Staten (who WAS busy on other Microsoft projects) or Marty O’Donnel (who went and did his own thing after being snuffed like that). Bungie got a lot bigger as it got more successful so a lot of the “original” Bungie staff that made up both 343 and Bungie were new hires who brought their own ideas about how things should be to the table. This is evident when we see the drastic direction halo took after 343 took over (and also the drastic departure Bungie took from destiny’s original premise so soon before its launch). So yes some of Bungie worked for 343 at the time but that didn’t really matter and doesn’t detract from the criticism of their new entity of 343 industries’ handling of the franchise. And no Joseph Staten wasn’t just around the corner as a resource just because he also worked for Microsoft. He was a busy man, there’s a reason that him joining halo infinite was such a big deal. I was once like you, but I learned the hard way. Anyhow all of this doesn’t matter anyways because as I said previously: pretty much the sole person responsible for audio at Bungie was Marty O’Donnel and they weren’t allowed to talk to him. So it doesn’t matter if every other soul of Bungie would’ve worked for 343, they and their commissioned musicians still weren’t allowed to talk to the source of halo’s music while tasked with remastering it
