I've come across a couple of good articles about the importance of a good book cover, and one thing that stuck out to me was when I read that a cover is not only a billboard for a book, but also the first page of the story. I completely agree with that sentiment.

Wow! I'm with you there especially about the cover for These Broken Stars. That book cover just makes me want to go out and buy it. I know they say don't judge a book by it's cover and as a writer I really shouldn't, but as a reader I say this is why book covers matter, everyone lol! Awesome video thanks for that. :D

I bought A Thousand Pieces of You because of the cover & the synopsis sounded right up my alley - I love the idea of parallel universes. But the romance killed it for me - c'mon YA - there doesn't always have to be a love interest. Let the action tell the story!

These Broken Stars is one of my top 5 books I've read in my life. It is so good I recommend you read it cause I believe you will like it. I really felt it was more adventurous than sci fi. I didn't think I would like it, but I loved it. I do the same thing I look at the cover if it looks good than I will read the summary. Usually I like the book with the cover, if the summary doesn't sound good I won't read it. I am a Librarian so I help pick out the YA books. Plus she is also part of the book Hunted which is the beauty and the beast retelling I am sooo excited to read that as well!!

I loved the Beauty and the Beast remakeish. It was a good book. I couldn't put it down. Vengeance Road is def a book on my TBR list. I read the synopsis and was like "yes gotta read it"

Another book I would recommend is My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century which is about a girl with a famous parent and she travels to Italy on Summer Vacation and gets sent back in time to the time of Romeo and Juliet. This is a three book set I read the first two & loved them!!! Hoping to get the third soon 😀

I just bought an older book that I hadn't heard of before because the cover caught my eye. It was actually in the wrong section of the store. The Program by Suzanne Young. The two characters in yellow in a clean white room. It just popped out at me so I picked it up and read the synopsis and decided to buy it. I don't ever buy a book without reading the synopsis first but the cover is what made me pick it up so maybe not exactly a cover buy but this video made me think of that book.

The only times I remember buying certain books by its cover is when I specifically wanted to buy the hardback edition like the six of crows and crooked kingdom (because of the color of the pages) and illuminae (because of the extra notes at the front cover). I'm planning to buy gemina soon when i do get to save enough money again. :)

I have a ton of cover buys from the thrift store. I feel like if I am spending a dollar or less for just the cover, then it is okay. Entwined is one of those that I found for $1.50 at the thrift. I loved the cover and enjoyed the book. I also purchased a book earlier this year titled A Slice of Cherry , which is about African American girls who are daughters of a serial killer. The cover has gorgeous stacked tea cups with blood overflowing the top cup. I just had to know what it was about. It was a good book (3 stars I think). It was quite strange with its paranormal elements though. I know there are many many more cover buys, but those two always stand out in my mind.

I get the whole don't judge a book by its cover thing. I would totally buy an awesome book even if it was in bad condition or if I didn't particularly love the cover. But at the same time, why do we need to judge people who do judge a book by its cover. It's just as shallow, and it doesn't affect you. A lot of work is put into the design of a book, from the cover to the end papers, from the colour selection to the font. As an artistic person, I value that. If the synopsis attracts me I will buy the book regardless of its cover, but I would be drawn to it a lot more if the cover was pleasing
