OKAY I love how your kitty is just sitting with you so peacefully. You do a really good job at describing books without giving big details away! I really appreciate that! I never know if I’m being too vague because I don’t want to spoil things so that’s good to hear. Definitely check out Half a Soul and What the River Knows, I hope you love both of them! I’ve never actually watched The Mummy but I might need to now, haha

Nice to hear I wasn't the only one distracted lately. 7 books is still quite a lot though lmao. I've been seeing a lot of people reading 'Half A Soul'. Maybe I should give it a try since I just watched the third season of Bridgerton and NEED to know what happens in the second half so maybe this'll keep me occupied hahaha
@LibrariesandLattes7 ай бұрын
Yeah I guess something was in the water in April… But yeah definitely not complaining about 7 books! 😆 Do it!!! Definitely has Bridgerton vibes and will hopefully scratch that itch haha

I liked hearing your take on Didion, although I’m not sure if i’m more or less keen to read it now. I will at some point. I’m also not sure if What the river knows is what I imagined and hoped it would be 😅 I imagined a big boat and lots of drama and colors and all of that, not the archeology and a magic ring haha! Might be worth a try, but I don’t think it’s at the top of my list. Super cozy wrapup though and the cat only adds to it. 😊
@LibrariesandLattes8 ай бұрын
Thank you!! I would definitely check out Didion’s book, it seems that my opinion is the minority one, so maybe you’ll connect more to it! As far as What the River Knows goes, I totally forgot to mention that there is a big boat and a decent amount of time spent on it! 😂 And also a good amount of drama and colors along with the archaeology and magic ring, haha, I think my brain was all over the place for this wrap up. I’d recommend it but understand if it’s not a top priority, just want to be clear about some things I forgot to mention, hahaha
@ellenmadebookclub8 ай бұрын
@@LibrariesandLattes Thanks for the clarification, that helps! 😄 I was never a huge fan of anything Indiana Jones, but I think it might have been tainted by a hand me down tshirt from my brother and a boy on my street who kind of excitedly forced me to watch it 😂 so now I’m averse to What the river knows! That’s so dumb, it will stay on my list! And I have the Didion one, I think I’ve been a bit afraid it will hit too hard, but if it’s not too emotional maybe it will be fine 😊

Great recap. ☀️ The Didion book has been on my TBR for some time. I'm sorry it didn't connect with you, but maybe that's a good thing - as you said, not having been greatly affected by loss. If you're at all interested in the topic but would like something more emotional, I might recommend When Breath Becomes Air, a memoir by Paul Kalanithi who was a doctor dying while writing the book. It's a strange take on grief/loss, as you might imagine, given he understands what's happening to him from a medical standpoint but aches to refute or reverse the diagnosis from the most personal standpoint. At any rate, thanks again for the video - I look forward to more.

Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I would definitely check out her book and see what you think about it, hopefully you’ll enjoy it more than I did! And thanks for the suggestion, When Breath Becomes Air has been on my radar so that’s really good to know! Definitely adding that to my TBR 😊

Love this! I agree with you about Half a Soul. How did a River Enchanted compare to Divine Rivals to you?
@LibrariesandLattes8 ай бұрын
Thank you!! Yes we had similar thoughts, from what I remember in your video when you talked about it, haha. Hmm, good question! Some elements of the plot and the overall vibes definitely felt similar. I feel like her writing was even more beautiful in A River Enchanted! And I felt like the main romance in both books came about a little too quickly (wanted more drawn out “enemies” before they became “lovers”) but thought that both main relationships ultimately had depth and a beautiful connection. And both books ended on a cliffhanger, haha! I think if you liked Divine Rivals/Ruthless Vows, that you would like this one too 😊
