The large population centers Denver,Greeley,Boulder etc. Wanted them and voted to bring them back but none will be released near their towns.Does not seem right they don't get to live with what they wanted.This will be like the vote on bears,the experts were overridden and look at the problems we now have with the bears.

It’ll take a few years, but in time the same people that voted for the wolves will be the same ones crying to the CPW about how they never see Moose like they used to. Everyone likes to talk about the elk issue, which I agree is a problem. However, looking at the statistics from places like Wyoming, it’s the moose that really take it incredibly hard. Our poor state is so far removed from reality it’s insane. Being born and raised here my whole life I’ve seen it go from bad to worse. The worst thing the DOW did was merge with the parks. That truly was the downfall of the wildlife management. I don’t even mean just this wolf thing, I’m talking about everything from sheep management to OTC non res elk tags. Whatever fills the pocketbook the most is exactly what the parks service wants. Ok my rant is over… I’m sure I’ll get ate up in the comments.

Shepherds and Herdsmen must be thrilled with joy! I hope thermal night scopes come down in price soon. Loss of livestock has to be documented. It is easy to lose a calf or lamb and not notice. They may not be able to get it confirmed as a wolf kill. Was is a coyote in heat and a pack of dogs? Coyote are enough of a problem.

I disagree with the woman rancher regarding that the voters have nothing to lose. WE LOSE A LOT WHEN we lose our wildlife. Just because we can’t “count” our loss or show it on a tray, it’s a HUGE loss to our souls. There’s more than money in this world. I do support assisting ranchers, even tho many of them graze their livestock on public lands for very small fees.

This is very important to return to ecological equilibrium. People that complain about bear overpopulation - it is because there must be wolves as an additional apex predator. Mtn lions, wolves, and bears must all coexist and compete for the same resources in order to keep the populations in check.

Thats not going to happen, this isn’t Montana, Wyoming or Idaho. The echo system was ruined when they put I70 and all the ski resorts in. The populations of humans boomed into the areas the eco system was ruined. In those areas they don’t have 100,000 skiers coming in every winter nestled with luxury homes and condos.

It's funny how many people from Colorado don't know anything about the South half of the state. One of the two areas their dropping 10 measly wolves in is Gunnison NF which shares a huge border with the Riogrand NF which shares a huge birder with the SanJuan NF combined the three forests are between 9 and 10 thousand square miles of uninterrupted mountains. 10 wolves won't be about to be located let alone cause an issue in 10k Square miles of the rockies. Anyone saying different either hasn't lived their or can't do simple math.

The states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan have wolves and you rarely hear them complain or have problems. Wolves are good for a ecosystem. They are basically bog coyotes. They will help regulate deer populations. God put them in the wild before humans moved west. Tbet serve a purpose. But need to be properly managed with a hunting season. I just hope if wolves are brought back that the government will allow compensation for farmers for wolf kills. Like allowing each wolf kill to be a tax right off or something

Not at all accurate, first the numbers you seen had to meet a list of criteria to qualify for it, then they can only have so many paid at that level if you have 10 animals die you dont get the same ammount for all 10 animals. Regardless if they are same age weight etc. This is the part that is not discussed. Otherwise investors would buy animals and put them near the herds to be killed off and they would just gain financially. Not at all accurate.

It's sad that people have no idea of what they are voting for. A simple study of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana with their serious problems with the proliferation of wolves and the decline in the ungulate populations. I've hiked in the mountains of Idaho and Wyoming and don't see the moose numbers that were prevalent years ago. This year with the extreme snow and cold weather, there will be an even greater decline in ungulate populations. People in large cities seem to be compelled to an emotional choice and don't consider the possible long-term consequences. These are not indigenous wolves (smaller), they are Canadian wolves that are far larger.
@jeffmallo2755
@jeffmallo2755 Жыл бұрын
zeus the ungulate populations were out of control at least in Montana. The Montana FWP thought the herd was over double what the terrain could sustain at least in the Northern Yellowstone range and at the same time the wolves were reintroduced they started issuing record number of cow elk tags to reduce the population. The combination now has the herd at sustainable levels. I didn't vote for this measure becuase I thought why pay for something that is already happening, but bottom line wolves are part of a natural ecosystem and overall it will do good things for our environment!

We always saw moose over the years when out in the back country but now it's pretty rare and I don't walk my dog without a pistol. I would bet that the sub species they are introducing are the Canadians which are bigger than what was there back in the day. Can only hope the ranchers eliminate as many of them as they can. Those of you that think just because they aren't released near a town that you won't have them....think again. They have migrated to the south and have expanded their range here over the years. A huge mistake! 1. They are already here, so this is a waste of money and time. 2. The conflicts will be huge in less than 10 years. 3. Voters who voted for this don't live in these areas, they don't hunt, so they have NO idea what they have just done. 4. The cost will out weigh the value - what for it, more and more tax dollars will be handed over to live stock owners to make them whole - why do we cut our nose off to spite our face? 5. Watch what will happen when a pack gets in to Rocky Mt National Forest --- Elk on golf courses will be nothing compared to a pack killing indiscriminately! 6. Wolves don't kill just to eat - they kill, period. Ask anyone that lives in MT, WY, UT, ID, MN, etc. I've archery hunted in every one of these states and I have seen it with my own eyes! This is bad for the wolves and bad for CO! 7. Now lets look at the money. CO's main voter body does not spend one cent for conversation. Hunters are the main contributors. With state licensing and fees, hunters pay $796 million a year. 8. Through donations to groups like Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), hunters graciously add $440 million a year to conservation efforts. 9. All-together, with a tax of 11%, asked for by this same group (hunters) in 1937, this tax generates $371 million a year for conservation efforts. This tax raises $15 billion, yes billion, a year for conservation efforts. 10. Every single day U.S. sportsmen and women, contribute $8 million to conservation. 11. This is $1.6 billion a year for conservation. 12. If conservation efforts are not funded by the "hunter" who will do it? The tax payers who live in downtown Denver? Nope. The Elk will starve. The Deer will starve. And, then who will get blamed? Not the voters, nope. But The Division of Wild Life will, because the "normal" tax payer has NO idea who funds these conservation efforts during the winter to keep these herds fed, and safe from conflicts with cattle owners. The argument this will bring "equilibrium" back to CO eco-system --- you are smokin' crack - why? Because, besides "man" who is the wolves natural predator? News flash, there isn't one! So guess what will happen, just like what happened in ID? The DOW will have to conduct a fly-over kill-zone to thin these packs - watch for the liberal uproar when this happens because they will say its a "cruel" and "barbaric" method to keep this apex predatory in check. This will have a huge financial impact on conservation dollars spent/donated in CO .... this was and, still is, a huge economic impact to those states that did this very thing. Now what will happen when these hunters stop buying gas, hotel stays, groceries, camp sites, etc. This will hit every aspect of the CO economy.
