So Im absolutely loving it!! I have a CR500AF from a crap 03 CRF450 roller. Best thing to do with that motor was throw it in the ocean. My bike is an amazing self destructive monster of a bike. I completely rebuilt an 88 CR500 engine and everything plugged in beautifully after the same mods you needed to do. I was going to sell it. 2 guys in the neighborhood offered 8-9 thousand, my son begged my not to sell it so I don't know. I really love the "HUGE" power so I think Ill hold on to it for a while. I have another CR500 engine that came with this behemoth, so might do another one and have 2.

I've been looking forward to this build. A year ago this was only a twinkle in my eye... then parts started accumulating.

Yea I have the 450 frame but I need to find the motor. Where should I look?
@The.Odyssey2 жыл бұрын
@@yogiballa I found mine on Facebook marketplace. It wasn't cheap. Cheapest one on ebay right now is $3500, I paid 2600 or 2700 for mine (can't quite remember) but mine also is a fresh rebuild. You can tell that it's never even been ran with the bore scope.

Thank you! Fell behind on it a bit (other jobs, & smacked my truck up) but... I have bought my own ACDC tig so I can do the rest of the aluminum welding myself (maybe not the rads. I'll practice on a spare radiator first). I'm itching to get back into this one, so expect a new video shortly!

You know whole bolt-in mount kits are available right? No need to chop and compromise the frame anymore.
@The.Odyssey Жыл бұрын
Correct, there are for the almost new frames. Too my knowledge they aren't available for the old ones like this 05 (please provide a link if you have one). Personally, I'm not a fan of them at all. The engine looks like it sits too high to me.

It's incredible that I couldn't find those bushings, I had some made and the man who made them made the decision to enlarge the holes in the engine and ended up leaving them off center and that delayed my project for more than a year, and I couldn't find someone correct that problem, what a pity you can't find those bushings for my 86 cr500 engine

Hey, when do you expect to be uploading the next video on this project? I own a 2007 CR250R that I plan on doing a CR500 conversion on. I'm anxious to see your finished product.
@The.Odyssey2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! The next video will most likely just be welding everything up that was fit in this video. That will probably come out in the next 2 weeks as im waiting for my welder buddy to have some spare time. This video took off nice but has slowed down yesterday and today, I do hope it picks back up. I am still figuring out exactly what I want the finished product to look like so ideas are rolling around in my head. I was thinking I might put up some polls to get feedback from viewers on what they think. Absolutely everything on this bike is going to be addressed on this build in some way shape or form so i figure it will be completed over the next 3 - 6 months as i figure it all out. After the welding is done I will probably be opening the engine up. It is a fresh build (bought it that way) but I just have to see inside before I try to fire it. I have no idea if there is porting or anything done. This is a very exciting build for me as well and I'm glad you are interested in seeing how it plays out.
