As many issues as I've had with my K1, enough to make me not want to deal with you guys... Payo's videos make me seriously consider the raptor.

Your videos are defiantly the best on the world wide web. Love your work and I hotly anticipate your next instalment.

Thank you, now i can't await my raptor to arrive. I watch the status page every day 5 times. Still no change after 1.5 weeks.... Feel like a small child waiting for christmas again 😂

Bravo! Your in-depth review has helped me make my decision whether to upgrade from the Raptor to the Raptor x. I work in the car world designing parts that eventually become carbon fiber pieces. I mainly work in 7 lines. With the performance being the same, and with the roughness of the 34 laser, I believe I will be keeping the original Raptor. I may buy the WiFi bridge handle but since I will still need the computer and all its cables nearby that for me currently is not a must. I will wait for a complete upgrade in a future scanner from the company. Thank you for doing your testing!

I have bought the Raptor bridge for the Raptor (non-X version) and I have to say it is really an improvement in handling. Using a rather powerful laptop (Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16ARP9) I manage to get about 40 fps with the Raptor. But now it is way more practical and don't have to worry about the cable and it is a lot easier to hold the scanner as the grip is way more natural. For calibration you still need to use the cable, but for normal operations you don't need to anymore. I don't find phone holder really practical. At least not with the Pixel 7a, due to the position of the buttons.
@brettturnage533Ай бұрын
@ Irony I am also using a Lenovo, a Legion i7 with a 4080 and I getting 50 fps wired (weird that I am not getting 60 fps), but I will give the bridge a try in a few months.
@TD-erАй бұрын
@@brettturnage533 Yep wired I also get 50 fps. Since you have a similar (the same?) model, can you also test to see if putting the laptop in 'high speed mode' actually lowers the reported framerate in IR scan in the 'performance test' ? Mine showed about half the framerate in IR mode in this test when I put it to performance mode. (both with power connected of course)
@Payo-TensileCreatorАй бұрын
50 FPS is the fastest you will get from Raptor. My desktop 14900K with RTX 4090 will only go 50 FPS max and I haven't seen anyone go beyond that. Otter in large mode will require most computing power, only this desktop can go 30 FPS without dropping.
@brettturnage533Ай бұрын
@ That’s what I was assuming despite Creality saying 60 fps was possible. I assume that is the same for the RaptorX?

Thanks for this new video. Ok Raptorx it's a lot more precise than Otter ....but Otter remain a great scanner for the price imho

Have you seen or used the metro x from revopoint yet? Be a good comparison to the Creality range

Revopoint will send me a testing unit around end of Jan. That's what they told me.

@@Payo-TensileCreator Any idea how they fully compare in spec? does raptor have a limit on points as Metro X has 800k in laser, I have ordered raptor but cant help the kit metro x comes with is very good

Do you have any plan to compare the NIR accuracy between Raptor, Raptor X and Otter? You do really good comparison videos :)

I'll try to add that into some future video.
@tusharjaimini248027 күн бұрын
Can we achieve 0.02 mm accuracy in machining object ( up to 600mm ) by original raptor ? ...if it possible make a video about this...... ....one more thing ..creality claim 0.02 mm @ 100 mm distance ...in that case what is 100 mm distance?
@Payo-TensileCreator26 күн бұрын
I don't think you will get 20 um for 600mm long scanning. You'll get 20+60 um error for 1000 mm long scanning. Your error would be in 56 um range.
@TD-erАй бұрын
@Payo what software do you use to measure the dimensions of the scans?
@Payo-TensileCreatorАй бұрын
A freeware called "CloudCompare" Many professional scanner software built on CloudCompare foundation. The UI might look obsolete but you can do a lot with it, merging the un mergable, meshing, align to plane ect.
@minibeyseАй бұрын
I can confirm your results i got a average error (=offset on true measurement that is systematic) of 0.007mm, with a standard deviation of 0.060mm. the average error i get is 0.05 over 1200 measurements on 10 points of the califlower model. Scanned 4 times with 3 times measuring the same point digitally) my source of truth is a calibrated caliper
@Payo-TensileCreatorАй бұрын
I ordered calibration rods but it got lost in the mail. See if I will get them and I will do re-test
@minibeyseАй бұрын
I'm also looking into calibration rods. I don't know how to use them yet, and how to get cheap ones. Do you buy them with a calibration certificate? Or do you need to send them to a calibration company? Also SW to use to check calibration (cheap) would be interesting. Hope i'm not giving you too much work!😅 Really appreciate you helping, thanks
@georgenovtekov4351Ай бұрын
Otter is absolutely enough for reverse engineering but you need to get control measurements for the parts that require tide fit. Either way for press fits neither of the scanners is good and will require control measurements.
@colaigorАй бұрын
Wow, the increase in scan area is insane. Ive read people saying only difference between the x and non x is the speed that they pick up the data, how wrong were they.
@Payo-TensileCreatorАй бұрын
Cross lines spacing wider than parallel lines, so it pickup surface data faster when the object has wider faces, but when the object has smaller faces like the angle block in the video, the parallel lines pick up surface much quicker (I think 30 - 40 % faster)
