Disclaimer: I like heavy machinery but don't work with it so take my observations and opinions with a LOT of salt. It probably has the turning radius of the Titanic with that tag axle so far out back and probably goes thru tires like the Sun is not coming up tomorrow (too many non-steering wheels in a row). What's the purpose of the tag axle ? You would think that with 3 already on the trailer it would be enough to bear the load. 9:00 RIP asphalt, it was nice knowing you, LOL. Those tracks + weight are BRUTAL.

For those that aren't looking or confused: 1 steer axle 2 drive axles 1 floater on the jeep (raised) 3 standard trailer axles 1 tag axle at rear of trailer = 8 axles total Standard DOT axle count... basis elementary math.

Impressive truck, however, why is the trailer lifting mechanism scraping on the ground?
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 6 жыл бұрын
Two reasons why the Removable Gooseneck scraped the pavement. 1) Being that the truck was only moving forward a few meters to allow room for loading, the RGN wasn't at its normal ride height. 2) As the truck moved forward the angle of the parking lot changed from downhill to uphill, causing the RGN to drag briefly on the pavement. Thanks for watching!

@@coolbigrigs OK didn't know that. That single axle jeep you use...are they easy to 'get along with'?? Ive only ever seen them in BC so I'm wondering what they're like to use.Right now I'm in the process of spec'ing a heavy haul tractor and trailer but would prefer a tandem drive as opposed to tri-drive. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 5 жыл бұрын
Totally get what you're saying. Tandem tractor with single axle jeep (joe dog) is the majority choice as it provides more maneuverability for urban road geometry over tri-drive tractors. Dropping the jeep allows the tractor to be utilized elsewhere in an instant. Thanks for watching.

I don't see the purpose of a single axle (joe dog) jeep just get a tractor with a pusher axle and call it a day
@coolbigrigs
@coolbigrigs 6 жыл бұрын
Not that simple. Push axles are illegal here in B.C. (American rigs w/ push axles crossing the boarder into BC must raise the push axles, loaded or not.) Jeeps are utilized in BC for a few reasons. Like pushers, jeeps carry plus distribute weight when needed to meet regulations. Provincial in this case. Jeeps easily detach allowing tandem-drive tractors the freedom to pull countless varieties of trailers. I thank you for watching. Your viewership is appreciated.

CR250R40 yep that sounds like b.c when ever i took my 13axle set-up to b.c i had to sit at the border and wait for the b.c transfer truck to take the load in cause i had to many axles on the ground and way over length but the joe dog aint no different from a pusher axle same spacing only difference is another Pivot Point

It doesn't matter what side of the border, we all shake our head at our legislators. The legislative bodies making laws we must abide truly have no idea what they're talking about let alone care about the outcome which affects people just trying to make a buck to keep heads above water. Logic never applies to government. Stay safe out there!
