Epic!! Woo! Double sided 3x3 mats. Where the designs on opposite sides link up to form a continuous 6x3 area should you buy two. Would be cool.

EPIC!!! Not that I am excited... They are so excited about the wing moving templates, but that only eliminates ONE aspect of what makes epic play slow. I wonder if the rules for wing leader simplify attacks, initiative (we wasted so much time asking "Who is next?" in 4 player epic games...) & special abilities within wings.

I have two 3x3 mats that work really well. But you know what I would definitely buy? A two sided mat with a legion surface on one side and an X-wing / Armada surface on the other.

I'm super excited for this expansion. I already own a 3 by 6 play mat with a ISD on it. We used it for campaign (Hotac and Pallas). If your looking for great big play mat off a nebula, I will recommend deep cut studios.

I like that they're simplifying formation flying, but I'd like to see some of the mechanics of heroes of the aturi cluster involved with breaking up formations, could we see formations falling apart, causing stress and/or limiting the ability to focus? What formation-specific actions will we see? Maybe concentrated fire, volleys, etc.?

This is perfect to intro new players into the game! CR-90 + X-wing Squad v.s. Raider + TIES, the newbies contol the large ships! I am salivating already.

Seems to me like each formation will make a single attack with a bonus depending on if you have 2, 3, 4, or 5 extra ships. It also seems like with the transfering damage you're only attacking the one lead ship and it passes damage on to other ships and they fall one at a time. Kinda like how they do squad damage in 40k.

pretty sure the formation flying will be a thing for epic (hence why they revealed both at the same time) as it makes the most sense. Also, called it. The formation stuff works almost exactly like i expected it would.

My playgroup is starting with 1st edition, and will be moving up to 2nd edition soon, so these conversion kits, are a great idea! Also it looks like dreadnought H I R or P. And perform usually refers to maneuvers.

I would personally go for an 8x4 table for the sake of using as much space as possible. Especially if I wanted to put various items to the empty side such as dice or rulebooks not just for X-Wing but other wargames as well.

What about boosts and barrel rolls in formation? A wing leader cannot barrel roll if they have a ship on either side of them. Would they all barrel roll then?
