A subtle thing with ship formations is turning arcs. Say you turn right: middle guy turns middle, right guy barely moves, left guy swings wide. There's a lot of domino subsequents with that, and I'm guessing that's the primary balance reason that ship formation templates aren't in regulation. Once the decision to not make it core-tournament was made, they probably double'd down and made the upgrade cards. Turret symbol mystery (my take) - so big number was super high, little number was super low. Could be a thematic match where small ships were able to out-maneuver the point-defense systems on the larger ships.

A note on the damage deck, it appears that you just need a single huge damage deck. In 1st, each ship had a specialized damage deck.

GhostLink92 Me too. I bought all epic ships at the same time i bought conversion kits to my other ships and i’ve never bothered to mix the 1.0 epics with the 2.0 ships.

Aw, I liked Justin's idea of having the Raider as a resistance ship lol I completely understand and agree with you, Nick, sometimes we need to step back and look at it from the gaming standpoint as opposed to the thematic, especially in this case. But yeah, that would have been way cool.

Biggest concern for now is the crew slot being on huge ships, that upgrade was a problem in v1, and I hoped they would only have Teams and « commanders » cards, being able to put any crew from « normal » x-wing on a huge ship opens some weird possibilities The product listing explains that Raymus is a Command/crew, so the diamond icon is the Commandet slot which I had hoped would show up

For the initiative I would speculate that the high number represents initiative in the movement phase and the low number is the combat phase value. This means they move after all small ships and generally shoot last

I hope this and card packs bring more interest to Quick build cards. They're including a lot of them but, without memorizing the card text for every upgrade, they aren't even exactly quick. It'd be nice to see more full-text quick builds and game modes/tournaments that utilize them

Buy the 1.0 huge ships if you can find them before this releases and you will likely get a better deal. C-ROC is especially cheap now.

I’m quite surprised they didn’t include the CR-90 corvette for Resistance, considering the Resistance are using in in the Star Wars Resistance tv show and also set pictures and interviews revealed that we’ll be seeing it again in Episode 9.

Do you think the TIE Drone (TIE/D Automated Starfighter) will eventually appear on the Empire? I like the idea of the fighter, but it feels like it's stepping on the toes of the Tie Fighter and takes away from the CIS drone ships.

I've played ~3 epic games, good fun but takes a lot of time and organising. Had to use a small whiteboard or blackboard to keep track of pilot initiative.

Formation flying and wing tools will probably allow for good pilots to be flown in epic. In v1, high PS arc dodgers were being blown to pieces super quickly because there was no way of dodging 12 arcs. Now you can fly Vader and spread his damage on his whole wing, sounds very interesting

I'm betting that the diamond symbol means "epic play only". There was a similar symbol on old epic cards. It looked like a lightsabre being thrust into the air.

As someone who owns all the ships, I'm relieved that I only need to make one more purchase to have them all updated. Just hoping the big 3 get some more love because I'm been waiting on the Tie/rb from Solo for almost a year and a half now.

I think the conversion kit only has one damage deck. I have all of the ships and a few extra of a some of them. I hope I don't need 6-8 conversion kits now.

Did you ever play Heroes of the Aturi Cluster? I really loved the gameplay variant idea, and I'd love to see something like that as an official FFG product.

Hotas is AMAZING! I am on my 4th time through it with 3 friends currently. I would also recommend trying Battlestar Palas, uses the same mechanics as hotas (as it was designed to use it) if you have not played it yet.

I like epic, I already have 3 large ships so I'm in, but I was hoping to be able to use all ships in all factions. I mean I am sure scum could use the GR 75 or steal a CR90 or Gozanti, maybe not the Raider but the rest are easily interchangable and could be purchased by anyone who wanted one in cannon.

Interesting to note, the picture with the Seperatists ships has 9 Vulture Droids, making me believe you might be able to play with more than 8 copies of a singular ship type.

Armada is way better than epic play imo the crusiers are much less. Hopefully there's going to be a clone wars edition core set. Take the plunge! Xwing and Armada are amazing games.

I definitely agree! I do have to say that I find more players for X-Wing, or my friends see Armada and get overwhelmed just seeing the ships laid out. Both are worth that "plunge". X-Wing has become more of a campaign thing for me and friends (with Hotas and Battlestar Palas), and Armada for that "epic" space battle feeling!
