For those wondering, kaas (then known as "je suis kaas") played 8 games in lec (then EU lcs) for Copenhagen wolves in 2015 summer. he replaced unlimited midway through the split. cw ended 10th with 4-14 record which was auto relegation (lineup that finished season was lenny-shook-soren-freeze-kaas)

This episode is really good i think. One of the few times that i can see the INCREDIBLE gap between solo queue and pro lvl. Some of the discussions about rotations and metas, and the last 30min are incredible to me. The all "speed of minions mid" discussion is, to me, one of the best i could see in a show. GG

I think it's interesting in the soloq discussion how all three people focused on three different avenues - Peter talking about how orgs can incentivize people to try hard, Thorin focusing (as he has in the past) on pros tryharding, and Dom giving the perspective of streamers. Point is all 3 of them can work towards trying to make NA soloq better...not easy but hey worth doing. Since streamers all talk to each other, would it be possible to get a bunch of high profile streamers together and agree for maybe one season to all really tryhard like Dom to demonstrate what he's talking about?

I would watch a podcast where most of the bigger streamers talk to each other, Dom is friends with a lof of streamers and he is really vocal about his opinion so I don't see a world where he couldn't organise such event. There is a big audience for said talkshow.

I feel like most don't care and they are more "acquaintances" than friends that you can ask things of. Also our region is so degenerative, I see views going down hard for streamers if they are always tryharding. Sadly people want greifing and trolling because it's more entertaining. I hope I'm wrong and somehow they convince eachother to try in solo q but it seems like such a pipe dream. Idk maybe I'm just scared from some of the shit I've seen in solo q lol

Probably the best solutions I’ve heard on improving High level NA solo queue, specifically orgs having tryouts for certain ranks, as well as displaying broadcast of high ranked player games in client on home screen.

I just want to correct dom a little bit. Players in big religonal leagues (Spain, Germany,) are propably getting paid, however in smaller regional leagues they arent getting shit (Scandinavian, Czechoslovakian, Polish)

in terms of the queue I have a different opinion then Thorin. One point for me is that a player who is challenger of course will get back to challenger but as far as I understand spots there are limited so if you bring 10 accounts to challenger (I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do it on any number of accounts if you did it once or twice already) then you are effectively blocking 9 spots from players who might be on the same level or slightly below you but who would be able to reach challenger if you had e.g. 1 account per person only. Also for the lower divisions (I'm a gold/plat player) I can only speak for me: I do like challenges and I wouldn't mind playing against a diamond/master/challenger or play with them. But my experience is that whenver someone says "I''m a high level smurf, get carried" he is usually the one ending up 0/10 because he doesn't respect the opponent and dies needlessly or isn't willing to listen to pings/call from other people because "he is a smurf and knows everything better". Also people in this elo don't know how to stall when someone else is sidepushing trying to 1v9 but that player is so focused on winning alone that he doesn't realize he is losing the game because of it.

I think one of the main problems with the whole smurfing issue is this. *disclaimer I'm only silver* It's not the streamers smurfing that's the problem, because like Thorin said they get out of brackets immediately. The problem with smurfing is people get hardstuck and hate themselves for not progressing in the ladder climb so they feel the need to make a new account for some semblance of progression if nothing more to shit on lower level players. Two things happen because of this, the player smurfing doesn't get any better at all, the people they are playing against also can't even play the game because of the vast skill difference between the two. I like the unranked to challenger series and approach you took Dom. Because it shows the entire climb bottom to top which in my opinion is pretty cool and to show that you've still got what it takes not only to get back to the top. But also showing a in depth look with commentary on the specific brackets etc. When somebody in challenger smurfs back to challenger I think that's actually informational. When someone smurfs from plat/gold because they are hardstuck and refuse to get any better as a 1 trick maokai top lane, then yeah that's really fucking annoying. Great content as always man keep up the good work.

I think riot can do is do a crowdfunding server that is located in LA with hired moderators. People who intensional int will have strikes and 3 strikes will be permanently remove from the server. Also there will be a hall of shame that permanently pose the name of the player with strike and a link into vod and description. People who are allow to enter should be LCS player, academy players and by invitation or by top challengers. I’m sure there will be people and organizations will help fund the server because it will help the NA LCS a lot in terms of training and scouting.

On the smurfing topic, something that bothers me a lot, I am currently in plat 3, Sometimes I get a Silver account with 72% winrate in like 12 games or something, that get's into my games and just hard loses the game (either on enemy side or my side). 12 games is literally just placements, if a Silver player can't Duo with Plat, a Silver player shouldn't be able to play in Plat. Edit: Just realized thanks to Peter's point. If those Silver smurfs are like Gold or Silver players who bought their accounts it could explain why their mmr is in Plat but it's so frustating because you're never really sure if the guy is actually a Plat player, more often then not they aren't and just go 0/5/0 in lane and quit or something.

why couldnt NA pros work with riot to set up a specific time where all pros sign up for solo queue so youd get like 8 pros at one time in one game and then the reason you work with riot on this is that if those other 2 players that arrent pros int the game you get them insta banned. Feels like NA needs this kind of moderation to really do anything at this point.

I don't think the NA players care enough to. They're being paid big bucks for mediocrity, so there isn't much desire to improve. Doesn't help that ambition tends to be more common in younger players thirsty for success, and NA isn't interested in that. They'll re-hire and re-use veterans who have peaked years ago because it's safer. Or maybe the orgs care more about brand than results.
