"The Promise Of Fever" In the beginning Rimmed with wind and storm A great black wrath of infinite math Spat snarling into form And there was Heaven Lit up with precious stones Each one could fall but for the rule Of Faith and love and stronger thrones And therein rose vast wonders Affections to be seen Fathered from the plundered Reflections of a dream Fogging into nightmare For him whose place was set With wayward stars that absent, marred All creation with their theft In the beginning Bewinged and ringed with dawn This favoured Avatar, enthralled Swansongs from those that thronged this shore With Gabriel and Michael He shone with fierce intent For loyalty, their joy to see Him spur the hymns to heaven (sent) For sculptured lips of seraphim Whom fate then cruelly rent (With sleight-fingered strains of harmony) Each note to grim portent As grinning nimbus gathered Over spires arabesque For Him that blazed with holy praise That for a jealous God was meant Shining Feriluce Lustrous scourge of fallen spirits Basked in glory, flew To lakes in sacred altitudes Sweet haunting music swathed the breeze With curling tongues that lapped the lead As through thick mountain mist he wandered cursed (with thoughts adrift) Until at last, past grasping trees He paused to draught forbidden streams That whispered siren promises To drown his thirst (for sports amiss) These waters held secrets Like raped Russian dolls Wherein evil and good Tore his soul for control And drunk with the verse of desire's first words The weight of the universe Slunk in rehearsed Horror in numbers too great to discern The rotting of worlds to the conqueror worm And love a rare orchid so fragile in bloom Espied gasping breath under dark-sheeted moons Shining Feriluce Reflected in a jaded mirror Climbing from the noose Of time in divine servitude And thus a strange new melody Of will and wanton fantasies Whetted by the veiled, seen Danced from his ashen lips In red dawn scores, the silver scream Of truth and her deleted scenes Was taken up as far, it seemed As God his words eclipsed (Those waters hid visions Like butchers in war Perverting the course Of life's blood evermore...) In the beginning Skinned well with gibbous tones Of countenance and ignorance In equal measures sewn A marbled arc of Angels Sworn to the morning star Shared His pride and deep inside Felt Chill Shadows sweep their cards Writer(s): Adrian Erlandsson, Paul James Allender, Martin F. now nearly! There are so many of us who love all of Cradle Of Filth new and old. Why else do you think they keep going like they do. Its because of the very strong fan base for a very creative band. If they kept doing the same thing over and over no one would keep listening. This band can only keep getting better as that monster evolves and creates masterpices.

Damnation and a Day was COF's best album, hands down. I loved the concept of it as well as the composition. I'm personally an old COF fan, the new stuff makes me hate Roadrunner even more, but more than anything I'd love to hear another album with the sound they gave on Damnation and a Day it's so amazingly composed but brutal at the same time.

somehow this album does not get the recognition it deserves. At first, I was a bit shocked on the sound and the lack of vampiric, sinister yet melodic black metal they had on Dusk and Cruelty. But eventually Damnation grew on me too. It's a fantastic album and I regularly give it a spin.

Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band, formed in Suffolk, England in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. The band has gone through many lineup changes, with vocalist Dani Filth being the only constant member. The band has broken free from its original niche by courting mainstream publicity. This increased accessibility has brought coverage from the likes of Kerrang! and MTV, along with frequent main stage appearances at major festivals such as Ozzfest, Download and even the mainstream Sziget Festival. They have sometimes been perceived as Satanic by casual observers, even though their outright lyrical references to Satanism are few and far between; their use of Satanic imagery has arguably always been more for shock value than any seriously-held beliefs. Damnation and a Day (subtitled From Genesis to Nemesis...) is the fifth studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It was released on 10 March 2003 and is Cradle of Filth's only album on a major label, Sony Records, after which they transferred to Roadrunner. It features the one hundred and one-piece Budapest Film Orchestra including the forty-piece Budapest Film Choir. The album is partly based on John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost. In addition to the Miltonic arc, the album also features stand-alone tracks such as the Nile tribute "Doberman Pharaoh" and the Aleister Crowley-influenced "Babalon A.D. (So Glad for the Madness)". Nymphetamine is the sixth studio album by Cradle of Filth. Recorded between February and July 2004, it was released on 28 September by record label Roadrunner. Nymphetamine marks the first recorded appearance of guitarist James McIlroy on a Cradle of Filth album. He would later record guitar for the band's 2010 release Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa. Nymphetamine is also the band's final album to feature keyboardist Martin Powell. Damnation And A Day and Nymphetamine are the only two albums I have on my discography, in CD format. Especially Damnation And A Day I am honored to have four copies because it is the Cradle Of Filth album that I like the most. As for Nymphetamine, I have the Special Edition with both CDs! Thank you, Dani Filth, for your music and your poetry! I hope you will always be active, because you are the best Extreme Metal band in the world, and I am your fan! I've already had almost all of your albums but I offered them because I'm only really interested in Damnation And A Day and Nymphetamine! ❤️❤️❤️

It was the first extreme music album I bought in 2003. It was love at first sight! For all that the album represents to me, it's the best album ever on Cradle Of Filth discography. I do not mean that the others are smaller record works. None of it! All Cradle Of Filth albums are works of extreme international music! What I mean is that Damnation And A Day, to me, is their best album! Because I like the album in particular. Because it is a conceptual work of extraordinary extreme music! The album for me represents everything! And I love the cradle of Filth! They are the best extreme music band in the world. Luckily I've had all their studio albums, but I decided to give it away and just got Damnation And A Day! I bought three copies! I have a special affection for the album!

I was 15 years old when my parents took me too a thing called a "Music store." They said I could only get 1 thing. I walked up and down the isles looking for anything that caught my eye. I had no musical preference at the time. Then I saw this album cover... I immediately remembered hazel dreams of sitting on a throne of thorns whipping slaves with my downward glances. That's when I was born again.

This album has Melodic/Black/Thrash/Heavy metal and a little bit of groovie riffs is so damn catchy, the gothic orchesta make it better in every song and effects sounds make unique album, not to mention the theme of the album and the story it tells, it's one of the best, it gives it a lot of personality, this album Deserves to be in a top 5 Cradle of filth albums only Existence is futile, Dusk, Midian and Cruelty and the beats are better in my opinion.
