In this video, I give a review of the Craftsman Versastack 17 in. Rolling Tower Tool Box in red and black that I purchased at Lowe's. I also give an update and an overview of my growing Versastack setup with the 216 piece Craftsman Versastack Tool Set along with the Craftsman Versastack 2 Drawer Organizer that I have done review videos on already.

I had the 2 wheeled box years ago when i atteneded Lincoln Tech. I loved it. I also used it for years after that when i had side jobs. Would load my tools from work. Very convenient and strong. (well I know 20 years ago they were built very well!)

Yes they are underrated as far as price and features. They do say tradestack is better for professionals for the heavier duty build and the larger footprint. Thanks for watching!

I really love this product. I have three of the drawer sets plus one of the toolboxes that connects to them. have used and abused them big time and they are still holding up very well. they are every bit as good as Milwaukee (only mention this brand because they charge the most for their tools but do not provide anything better than anyone else) overall I think ,as far as tool boxes go, craftsman has it nailed. the quality is very good and the price is reasonable.

I think to compare craftsman to milwaukee would be a stretch. Their tradestack line is more similar to packout. But I agree, great value for the money. All depends on what you need it for. Thanks for watching!

@@JayCostaUSA What about securing the box with locks? I noticed the small holes on the front of each box. Would it be possible to insert a long metal rod with holes on both ends so that 2 locks can be used to secure it? I hope the question makes sense. In other words, instead of buying a bunch of locks for each box, all I would need is 2 locks.

@@JayCostaUSA Lowes has the Versastack double drawer unit on their web site. But I ordered DeWalt Tstak ones since they are cheaper and you can get a deep drawer. You just have to not mind that you have a mix of colors.

@@JayCostaUSA yes it is IMO. I thoroughly went over both in Lowes and the Trade Stack is bigger and built tougher. And has the Versa Stack adapter so I can put the radio on top. Nice video. I recently started looking for a mobile tool solution for occasional projects away from home which could be automotive or woodworking. I have Makita LXT power tools and Craftsman hand tools. I recently went on a trip to work on getting a bunch of old car parts out of a yard so I tossed all kinds of tools in bags and put them in my truck. Reminded me of what a hassle it was. Especially since I had to drag all those bags a long distance to where the parts were. I thought I was going to go with the Packout system but it was just too big. And a problem I was finding with all of them was that none of them would fit in my truck bed with the cover on it. I looked at Ryobi Link, DeWalt Toughsystem 2.0 and the Craftsman Tradestack. But while searching online for review videos I kept seeing Versastack and Tstak systems. And when looking at Lowes I was able to get that Versastack 216 piece tool set for $119 and that became my away tool set. Then I saw that Tstak had a trolley/cart thing that folded up and DeWalt had good drawers for reasonable prices. So that's the direction I ended up going. Trolley cart with DeWalt Tstak drawers, the Craftsman tool kit and I'll pick up a couple large boxes for saws and such and probably the open top crate. Would have been cool to get a $49 radio but those all seem to be marked up on Ebay right now. Not that I really need it.

I'm deeply invested in craftsman v20 line I have the versastack myself and I'm a painter. Due to what they did with their brushless rp line. I will be moving to flex. With that said, they're reliable AF. I beat the hell out of my impact and drill from removing and installing cabinets to driving 6inch fasteners. Keeps up w DeWalt and Makita which are the brands my coworkers have. Never let me down. 🔥

@@JayCostaUSA They seem to have much less power, I have the American made version and the power difference is easily noticeable. I do really high end interiors and cabinetry worrying about my tools not having enough power to handle the job is the last thing I need. They honestly just seem like a total downgrade.

@@hooliganrc4470 I used to be heavy into 1/8 scale buggy and truggy racing. Rebuilding what I have and just picked up a 1/10th 2wd buggy to get back into racing a bit. Have some small 1/18 scale losi mini t and associated rc18t I am running to get my daughter excited about it. Great hobby, How about you?

You might consider moving the heavy ratchet sets down one space to get that weight down lower and off the other drawers. I am looking into this system since most other tool box units like the Packout are too big (17) to fit inside my slide out truck box (15 high) when turned on their back.My slide out tray fits under a toneau cover and fifth wheel trailer. I have Milwaukee tools but I don’t want to start getting cases that won’t fit where I need to carry them. 2 inches makes the difference to me.

I just stumbled upon and bought the 230 pc 3 drawer tools for $99 and noticed that it was stackable. I then looked up what add ons where available. This tower may be an option for my Tacoma since I cant fit my old tool box in the bed with the tonneau cover on it.

HART kinda won me over with their stack system, but I wish they had a tool kit like Craftsman does with their stack system. Hart does not, so I can't ignore that Craftsman does. I might have to pivot. If I get the Hart system, I will end up with a separate, unintegrated tool kit. I like the way I could bring it all together with the Craftsman Versastack system.

I love how it integrates into one system. Cant beat it. One alternative if you dont want to switch completely over to a new system is foam inserts in your Hart storage. Would take some time and effort to make it right, though. Thanks for watching!

Sometimes you can have too many options! I think with Lowe's support craftsman is here to stay, good bad or indifferent. It is focused towards homeowners, so I wouldnt expect it to compare with Milwaukee in price or options.

The Packout is definitely more useful in a Pro setup, but it’s about 2 inches bigger in width and depth which prevents it from going where I need them. The Packout hand truck is well over $200 by itself. The Packout wheel box doesn’t have a removable cart.

@@chucknSC All depends on your usage. Professionals are probably better suited for packout. Unless another issue that they have, like your issue with the width.
