I'm so sorry. These homeowners were clearly practicing the art of deception. Shame on them! It is a beautiful property and I'm sure that you and hubby will get through all of this and it will be wonderful.

Oh, my stars, Norrine! You've certainly been very busy. Personally, I've missed seeing you on KZbin and I've missed your content, which has always been very informative. Home projects seem to be never-ending, especially when first buy a new home. We've been in our home since 2001 and are still finding projects that need to be done. However, our to-do list is much, much shorter now. You have a lovely piece of property to which to wake up and fall asleep, not to mention all the beautiful wake time you'll have. Worry not! With your incredible imagination, ingenuity, and work ethic, you'll accomplish all your dreams for a magnificent home in due time. Remember: It's not the destination that's important; it's the journey! Enjoy the creative process! So looking forward to your regular return to KZbin. Thank you for the update!❤

Thank you for the update, Norrine. I’m so glad things are working out for you and your husband. I know how overwhelming a cross country move can be. We bought our home in Tennessee (during Covid) while we were living in Alaska - from online photos and video walk throughs our kids took. After we bought our home, we drove to Tennessee through Canada with a loaded trailer. Our new home was full of surprises which my contractor husband has been able to fix. At 77 years old, we found land closer to our family and are building a smaller home half an hour from the Kentucky border. Hopefully, we will both be settled in our new homes by Spring.

Please don't become overwhelmed. Your house is lovely even if it's not what you expected. Our first home was a fixer upper. Literally! We focused on one room at a time on a pay as you go basis. For a while our living room was just a painted bedroom upstairs. It's worked until we could fix up the actual living room. Each new thing we did made it very special and a reason to celebrate. Your property is gorgeous, and you will love Kentucky. My best to you. God bless!

My mom has been a huge fan of yours and your channel for a long time now.... She was THRILLED when she heard you were moving to Kentucky as this has been our plan for awhile now ourselves. We both live in WNY currently and after doing a LOT of research and checking things out online decided a ways back that Kentucky was going to be where we wanted to move out too (Hopefully in the next couple years). So of course she called me and texted and linked me your video as soon as she came across it and told me I had to check it out. I have to say I absolutely love the area you picked. The picture @ 10:02 looks gorgeous and almost exactly what we are looking for ourselves. Lots of trees and open space and the houses that are spread out very nice. I am SUPER curious as to what city/area this is in specifically. Coming from someone who also plans on moving out of state it is really hard to accurate real time specific info about cities/areas/crime/people/traffic etc etc. I am very sorry to hear about the problems you faced and how deceitful the previous home owners were in trying to cover things up and just make a quick sale and when they started getting called out about it they chose to get the lawyers involved and told you to buy the house or see you in court. Very shameful indeed. All of that however pales in comparison to the home inspector. They should honestly be straight up fired. While I can understand not looking under a shelf full of toys or junk to look at the bottom of a pantry... all of the pipes and electrical and fixtures not even being secured is all textbook stuff that the home inspection is SUPPOSED to catch. On a side note it's great to see how positive you are about these things and is a small comfort knowing you have at least the know how to be able to fix most of this stuff up yourselves. Really wishing you the best and hope it all works out great in the end. I look forward to checking in periodically and seeing how you guys are enjoying your lives in Kentucky!

Welcome to Kentucky! I am sure that you will love it too and I also love Menards! 🥳 If you are ever driving through Oldham county Crestwood Meats has the best bacon wrapped filet mignon, gvn powder seasoning and Amish rolls warmed in the oven with butter. Hot browns are yummy and a lot of brunch places have them. As long as you have a truck/ large car you can find a lot of things for cheap/ free (if you pick them up from Nextdoor/ estate sales) Cincinnati is probably the closest IKEA to the KY/ Indiana border, but IKEA does deliver. Keeneland in Lexington is beautiful, Ollie’s are all over KY and great for DIY supplies/ xl tarps. If you are near the Indiana border sometimes getting contractors and supplies are cheaper there than in KY. Since the weather changes every 15 minutes here, enjoy the lovely summers but please do not put away your seasonal clothes 🙏🏻 lol. If you are going to be doing DIY’s with paint, before the weather gets too cold be sure to paint/ spray paint anything you need to outside. Also be sure to use Waze to avoid any traffic/ hidden cops for tickets. Other than that advice, welcome to Kentucky where people will likely smile and wave when passing you in the neighborhood (even if you have never met them) or wave to let you go first at a four way stop sign intersection! 🏇🥃😊

Didn’t pay much attention to standard building practices, much less code, did they!! My mom and I bought a little house in 1975 after my dad passed away. Everything looked fine. Flash forward to 2008 when the house had sat empty for years and our son asked to remodel it for him to live there as his wife was expecting their baby. He pulled down the drywall and found wall studs that were too short and the builder had shoved wood shims on top to make them taller!! All had to be sistered with taller studs. You are such a joy and I’m so glad to see you again! Sorry about the ‘lemons’, but happy about the ‘lemonade’ and what a testament to your ‘new’ relationship! He’s quite a guy!! ❤❤

My daughter and her husband (Navy family) were transferred with little notice. Their story is like yours…dishonest sellers, real estate agents, real estate attorneys and a friend who didn’t point out the problems with the house. No walk thru because closing but the broken hearted calls when they were finally able to see the house were hard for me. They ended up spending thousands of dollars and many hours of hard physical work and still have more work to do. However, they ❤their town, neighborhood, schools, neighbors and the rights to several lakes they can walk to in a few short minutes. Keep your eye on the prize! For the paint color on your recently relocated cabinets, perhaps a color several shades deeper than the color in the walls? Whatever you choose, it’s going to look wonderful.
